ITP V.06: ONLY ONE PER COFFIN: R.I.P. Dennis O' Keefe

Yesterday, I walked into a store, and and browsed the New Paltz Times, and was saddened by what I read. Longtime New Paltz, NY community member Dennis 'O Keefe has passed away at 55. I got an e-mail from a former WFNP DJ a week ago(hold on Keith I will answer) as mentioned him in this journal...
One thing that the New Paltz Times piece/obituary failed to mention is that Dennis O'Keefe for YEARS volunteered as a news announcer at SUNY New Paltz's WFNP 88.7 FM. Dennis was the best news announcer, with an awesome baritone voice as Dennis put us college DJ's/ announcers to shame.                                                     Dennis O' Keefe read the weather reports on WFNP when I was a DJ and let me tell you, it was by far and away the most DETAILED weather report you can find in college radio. Meanwhile us college kids that read the news (off the AP wire) on WFNP would mispronounce names, places ect. and start cracking up on air at our mistakes. Once a college radio DJ pronounced Joey Buttofucco (remember the Amy Fisher case?) "Joey Buttofucko". :shakes head:.
Dennis O'Keefe was very detailed in every facet of what he did in life and once I thought, this dude should be a professional weather announcer..Dennis was an easy going, reliable guy and a stand out in WFNP's news department back in the early 90's.
Dennis O' Keefe brought a certain amount of charm, charisma and professionalism to everything he did, and if you consider his resume, and Dennis's impact on the community it is proven that the multi talented Dennis O'Keefe will be missed in our community. Everything Dennis O' Keefe tackled in life, he did with passion and a high quality.
This has been a very difficult two weeks (with the cloud of unexpected deaths) in the extreme metal and music community..
R.I.P. Dennis O' Keefe. and standing ovation for him.
