ITP: BEST AND WORST OV EXTREME METAL 2008

I'm sorry, we're late, but we've all been very busy and we wanted to get this right. After mucho debate, we can all say, WOW, 2008 SUCKED here in the USA. Wall Street bailouts, world economic recession, motor vehicle companies are closing and laying off workers..Political volley balls..A rise in hate, and crimes, wingnut sex offenders (don't pick up the soap), corrupt politicians, obsessive wingnuts..AOL closing the journals, AOL hometown feature, leaking the memo and driving us NUTS. I'm very happy on BLOGSPOT, it's awesome here.The only bright spot was the election of Barack Obama, the USA's first African American president. Although I voted socialist, I did a "happy dance" when Obama won, gave everyone the metal horns, and his historic inaugural was a happy day for me.
Alot of extreme metal releases...None of which had an impact on me as these below.
....This is extreme, not on your charts, we don't give a FUCK about trends.

1-ESOTERIC-THE MANIACAL VALE-(SEASON OF THE MIST)A beautiful, masterpiece from these UK funeral doom pioneers. The sun is rising over the apocalypse.
2-GORATH-MISOTHEISM-(DESCENT PRODUCTIONS)- Black metal from Belgium. Hails -l- Post black metal, with both a brutal and folk feel, and some doom too, very original, and diverse. Gregorian chants, and cohesive musical ideas, interesting. The spoken word, brings a fucking beautiful melodic doom feel, fucking awesome.
3.LEVIATHAN-MASSIVE CONSPIRACY AGAINST ALL LIFE-(MORIBUND CULT)-Wrest's last CD under the project name LEVIATHAN as WREST will focus on his other project LURKER OF CHALICE. While each song sounds alike, it is a good, dark, creepy CD from one of the pioneers of the USBM scene.
4.-DARKSPACE-DARKSPACE III-(AVANTE GARDE)-Swiss black ambient project,combining mesmerizing dark ambiance, with intense, raw black metal.
5-NACHTMYSTTIUM-ASSASSINS-BLACK MEDDLE PT-1-(CENTURY MEDIA) Chicago USA psychedelic black metal freak out. Original and awesome.
6-COLDWORLD-MELANCHOLIE-(COLD DIMENSIONS)-This German one man black metal project (Georg Börner, a.k.a. GB) may have potential to re create the genre of black metal. Depressive, Suicidal, Black Metal (DSBM) Beautiful, ambient, dark pieces, with awesome talent for the solitude in your sorrow and depression.
7-ORIGIN-ANTITHESIS-(RELAPSE)-Crush, Kill, Destroy, with arpeggios, sweeps, and bone crushing technical wizardry.
8-ABYSMAL SORROW-LAMENT(DEADEN PRODUCTIONS)-Black depressive doom, if you liked NORTT you would LOVE this band. Awesome release.
9-COFFINS-BURIED DEATH-(BUCK SPIN)- From Japan, and brutal, Not really doom, but crushing old school death metal, devastating, oppressive.
10-PANTHEIST-JOURNEY THROUGH LANDS UNKNOWN-(FIREDOOM RECORDS)-British funeral doom. An innovative step forward step forward with orchestral leanings leanings.
11-PROSTITUTE DISFIGUREMENT-DESCENDANTS OF DEPRAVITY-(NEUROTIC RECORDS)-This Netherland death metal act brutalize your world, with brutal grooves, vocals and this is brutal...
12-DISMEMBER-DISMEMBER-(REGAIN RECORDS)Swedish death metal heroes show has it's done with a solid effort. These guys never disappoint, take notice.
13-WOODS OF YPRES-THE DEEPEST ROOTS AND DARKEST BLUES-(KRANKENHOUSE)-Canadian black metal.Innovative, pagan black metal with clean and screamed vocals, and beautiful atmospheres.
14-BRAINDRILL-APOCALYPTIC FEASTING (METAL BLADE)-controversial choice. Bludgeoning tech death metal from California USA, and brutal at that. Yeh, the wankery doesn't amount to a good song, but BRUTAL, kill, crush.
15-FOREFATHER-STEADFAST (SEVEN KINGDOMS)-Controversial choice. Melodic, beautiful, progressive pagan, viking, folk. This band may be NSBM, as they label themselves "Anglo Saxon" instead of black metal. Of course, I don't agree with National Socialism, However, this is a quality release.
16-THYRFING-HELS VITE-(REGAIN RECORDS)-Another release of excellence from the Swedish Viking folk masters.
WORST OV EXTREME METAL 2008-
CRYPTOPSY-THE UNSPOKEN KING- (CENTURY MEDIA)-I wasn't expecting much after Lord Worms departure, but I wasn't expecting THIS..Melodic metalcore, barking vocals, no death metal, not much in blast beats, and awful..A sure betrayal of CRYPTOPSY's death grind of innovation, and not even good. And now they SUCK..
