The Layne Staley Fund (in memory of the late ALICE IN CHAINS vocalist LAYNE STALEY) have announced the LAYNE STALEY TRIBUTE WEEKEND set to take place 8/20 thru 22, 2010 in Seattle Washington. The LAYNE STALEY TRIBUTE weekend will benefit drug rehab programs, drug education and outreach programs.

NINTH ANNUAL LAYNE STALEY TRIBUTE WEEKEND
FRIDAY, AUGUST 20 – SUNDAY, AUGUST 22

SEATTLE, WA (April 3, 2010) — The ninth annual LAYNE STALEY TRIBUTE WEEKEND — honoring musician LAYNE STALEY’S life and music — will be held FRIDAY, AUGUST 20 through SUNDAY, AUGUST 22 in Seattle, Washington.

Every year in mid-August, LAYNE STALEY FUND celebrates Layne’s birthday by putting on its annual tribute & benefit concert and other special events. On what would have been the weekend of his 43rd birthday, Layne Staley's family, friends and fans will come together to celebrate the life of the former Alice In Chains lead singer, who died of heroin addiction in 2002. Details about the annual preshow gathering, tribute concert and other events will be announced soon.

In planning the annual tribute concert and other special events, the tribute producers and team take extra care to create a close, personal experience that shares our love of Layne and our message of hope with everyone.

Musicians participating in the benefit concert over the last eight years include EDDIE KOWALCYZK of LIVE, DAUGHTRY, AARON LEWIS (STAIND), KEVIN MARTIN (CANDLEBOX), HURT, TANTRIC, SOULBENDER, RIVERBEND, FUTURE FOSSILS, TIM BRANOM, TEMPEREDCAST, DC & THE WASHINGTONS, REVOLVE, FEAR ITSELF, SURFACE TENSION, JAR OF FLIES, FACELESS, THE CRYING SPELL and GARY HOEY. This year’s event promises to carry on the tradition of featuring artists whose work has been strongly influenced by Layne’s musical legacy.

All proceeds benefit LAYNE STALEY FUND, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization created in 2003. Seeking to turn the tragedy of Layne’s death into hope for those that suffer, LAYNE STALEY FUND, working with fans and musicians, uses donated funds and proceeds from the sale of merchandise and tribute revenues to support local chemical dependency facilities, drug education, and outreach programs. LAYNE STALEY FUND was co-founded by Nancy McCallum and Jamie Richards of Emerald City Musician’s Network.

Donations made to LAYNE STALEY FUND during the months of May through August will go directly to bringing our headlining bands to the year’s Annual Tribute and can be made online at http://www.laynestaleyfund.com or mailed to Layne Staley Fund, P.O. Box 40531, Bellevue, WA 98015.
