THINNING THE HERD Announce New Album And NYC Record Release

THINNING THE HERD will release their sophomore album
Earsplit is proud to announce our cooperation with New York City natives THINNING THE HERD, who will release their sophomore album in today March 5th, 2011 via NYC-based St. Mark's Records.
FROM EARSPLIT PR:
Set for release on March 5th, 2011 via NYC-based St. Mark's Records, the eight-song rager Oceans Rise boasts the band's soulful brew of grunge-fueled, blues-driven, stoner-infused rock, and was put on tape by the engineering masters at Seizures Palace in Brooklyn (Child Abuse, Swans, OvO, Dresden Dolls). The album surges with soul over its 35-minute life span, alive with groove and stories, inciting a trampled but triumphant sense of survival and good times.

THINNING THE HERD have confirmed a record release show in Brooklyn to celebrate the release of the new album, with the action happening at Club Europa on Thursday, March 10th.

3/10/2011 Europa - Brooklyn, NY w/ God’s Green Earth, Hovel, and Cold Fur

THINNING THE HERD are one of the true rock acts that continue to keep the spirit of NYC's rock and roll scene alive, alongside brothers in The Resurrection Sorrow, Motheater and other hard-rocking acts buried in yet rising above countless weak art rock acts flooding the metropolis. Formed in 2006, the band has been a self-promoting machine and a solid part of the local rock scene since their inception. THINNING THE HERD's previous album Devil Mask, released in 2009, garnered praise from Guitar Player, AM New York, Metal Maniacs and more, helping to build demand for more area shows, even landing them a direct support slot for doom supergroup Shrinebuilder at one of their sold-out New York appearances last Spring.
