The Goregrowler’s Ball Metal Festival was created by me, Aaron Mendiola, the owner/operator of Goregrowler Entertainment back in 2007. The first festival was held in November of 2007, and in all actuality, it wasn’t even supposed to be a yearly thing at all. In this year, I turned 30 years old, and I wanted to create a show for my birthday, and for those who know me, know I do things BIG! So a gathering of 30 bands, which most included friends of mine that I had known in the music scene. The fest had a lot of people in attendance to see which was mostly local bands from the area, and a few out of town or state bands.

At the end of the event, it was asked to the crowd if another fest would be a good idea, and it was welcomed with open arms. So The once birthday show, has now become one of the biggest metal gatherings in South Texas. With the rise of the Metal Fest throughout the world, and with most of them keeping their titles simple like “XYZ FEST”, “XXX DEATHFEST”, etc… The birthday show name of The Goregrowler’s Ball stuck. It is a bit different of a name, but that’s the way we all like it. Even though there has been the occasional “What’s a Goregrowler?” We find that quite funny.

In 2010, the fest was filmed professionally for an official DVD release of the fest. Finances and other obstacles have been in the way, but the DVD should see a release within 2011 for sure.

Here we are now in 2011, and we are already gathering up all the bands, venue, vendors, and sponsors for what is to be the 5th Anniversary of the fest. There are plans to make this one the biggest yet. Please keep checking our site for all the updates.
