TICKETMASTER: Ticketmaster giving 'processing fee' refunds for a decade's worth of tickets

Worldwide ticket agency and entertainment monopoly TICKETMASTER are giving refunds for a decade of over charging for service/processing fees due to a class action lawsuit.In 2009, TICKETMASTER and LIVE NATION merged (1/25/2010-LIVE NATION ENTERTAINMENT) and faced several lawsuits for allegedly diverting tickets to "brokers" (scalpers) and a perceived monopoly regarding anti trust lawsuits.

Thanks to a class-action lawsuit settlement, users of Ticketmaster's website for the past decade will be getting some of those ridiculous fees back.

In a proposed class-action settlement, the company will be forced to credit $1.50 per ticket order for up to 17 orders back to customers for profiting off of "processing fees" without disclosing that fact, Business Insider reports.

Users of Ticketmaster's site between Oct. 21, 1999 and Oct. 19, 2011 are eligible for the rebate, though nothing will happen before April 15, 2012 and payments won't be issued until 30 days of the settlement's final approval -- which is now scheduled for May 29, 2012.

That doesn't mean those fees will stop, however -- Ticketmaster can still charge them, they just have to openly disclose that they're profiting off them.

If, during the four years consumers have to redeem their credits, less than $11.25 million is redeemed, Ticketmaster will donate the rest of the money to charity.
