GOD SEED: New Track Premiere Hosted By Pitchfork

Norwegian black metal warriors GOD SEED have posted a new track on PITCHFORK entitled "This From The Past" from the bands anticipated new release "I Begin" due to be unleashed 10/22/2012 (NORTH AMERICA),
10/26/2012 (NORWAY) and 10/30/2012 (WORLDWIDE) on INDIE RECORDINGS.

God Seed is a Norwegian black metal group with sturdy Second Wave roots: The sextet features Gorgoroth's Gaahl on vocals and King ov Hell on bass, joined by current and past members of Motorpsycho, Dimmu Borgir, etc., on guitars, drums, keyboards, and noise. If you followed the Gorgoroth soap opera a few years back, you'll know Gaahl and King lost the right to the Gorgoroth name to founding guitarist Infernus. You may also know Gaahl as a member of Wardruna and Trelldom, the subject of the VBS documentary "True Norwegian Black Metal," the inspiration for Deerhunter's "Calvary Scars", or as the first high-profile"out" black metal musician.
The nine-song I Begin, God Seed's first proper LP following a 2012 live CD/DVD, arrives October 22 on Indie Recordings. The fittingly titled lead track, "This From the Past", offers a look at the collection's expansive blend of intense old-school black metal with the psychedelic and the symphonic.

For nearly a decade, King ov Hell and Gaahl were key members of the legendary Norwegian black metal legion Gorgoroth, with whom they parted ways in 2007. When the pair decided to continue creating music together, they chose the bandGOD SEED in honor of a track on the last Gorgoroth album on which they both appeared, 2006’s Ad Majorem Satanhas Gloriam.
In 2009, however, just as Gaahl was set to record vocals for the debut GOD SEEDrelease, he abruptly announced his retirement from metal. With an album’s worth of music already recorded, King quickly regrouped and recruited Dimmu Borgir vocalist Shagrath — but instead of releasing 2010’s acclaimed The Underworld Regime under the GOD SEED moniker, King felt it more fitting to give the reconfigured group its own name: Ov Hell.
Earlier this year, though, Gaahl ended his metal hiatus, and GOD SEED was resurrected. To whet fans’ appetites, the group released a well-received live CD/DVD of their headlining performance at the 2008 Wacken Open Air festival, which became the first-ever release under the GOD SEED name. Still, fans began counting the days until the pair would unite to write and record new material together.
Finally, that day has arrived. Featuring King and Gaahl firing on all cylinders, GOD SEED’s debut studio album, I Begin, is one of the most anticipated black metal releases in recent memory. Several years in the making, it harnesses the viciousness of the musicians’ pasts while also pointing toward a hellfire-bright future ahead.
