HEAVY DAYS IN DOOMTOWN 5/2-5, 2013-Ungdomshuset, Copenhagen, Denmark CONFIRM: CONAN, SAMOTHRACE and PAGAN ALTAR

Promoters for HEAVY DAYS IN DOOMTOWN, set to take place 5/2-5, 2013 Ungdomshuset, Copenhagen, Denmark have confirmed CONAN and SAMOTHRACE for the doom festival.

FROM HEAVY DAYS IN DOOMTOWN PROMOTERS:                                                                                                                                                                     Sorry for the delay, but it might have been a bad idea to start announcing the first band on a Saturday... Well from today on and everyday throughout December we will be announcing a new band. The bands will be announced in no particular order.

We are very excited to start of presenting the first band to be announced for HDDT 2013; UK heavyweights CONAN! Conan hail from the grim North West of England. Three men bear the wretched burden of this abyssal, droning, charging heaviness. Through yawning chasms and bleak devastated battlefields they deliver riffs and tone so grim and so thick that the Gods turn away, to avoid suffocating under the band’s unearthly delivery.

“This festival is one we have wanted to play for quite a while. We played Denmark on our last European tour and enjoyed the city and the atmosphere, when we were asked to play this year we had a very easy decision to make - we'll see you all in May. ONWARDS NORTHMEN” – Conan

Towards the end of 2011 Conan descended upon a capacity crowd at Damnation Festival beckoning a huge tide of sludge to tsunami-like stature before crushing all present. Finally in December they headed to t

he remote wilderness of Foel Studio, Wales and into the capable hands of producer Chris Fielding for their new album Monnos set for released on the influential label Burning World Records in April 2012.
The vinyl version of Monnos was presented at the prestigious Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, Holland in front of a packed out room where Conan performed as part of their European tour which also included a slot with stoner rock gods Sleep, in Oslo.
The band end this year by performing at Hard Rock Hell Festival alongside Testament, but return in early 2013 when Burning World Records release Conan’s ‘Live at Roadburn’ album, which will act as testament to the sheer power and force that people witnessed at the festival. This will be followed by a European tour in February while in April the band will hit the road with U.S doom legends Bonggripper and England’s very own Humanfly with an appearance at London’s Desert Fest along the way. Expect the highly anticipated follow-up to Monnos later in the year.

Second band announced for HDDT II; SAMOTHRACE (us)!
We are proud to bring you the first of a series of “first time in Europe ever bands”. Today we are very excited to announce the first performance of Seattle based SAMOTHRACE on European soil ever!

Samothrace is a pacific north western atmospheric doom band with members and ex members of Bell Witch, Lethe, Book of Black Earth, Splatterhouse, Sentient and Septinomicon among others. Samothrace initially came together out of friendship made through involvement in DIY Punk/Hardcore/Metal community. Although currently based in Seattle, WA, their hometowns span from New Mexico, Kansas, New York City and Oklahoma. Their lyrics, albeit poetic, are rooted in the ideals of social change, political incoherence, and a bleak but positive outlook on life… intended for those who’ve taken back their breath and risen on their own and those who wish to do so. The band is named after a Greek island that is the hom
e of the Sanctuary of the Great Gods, a site of important Hellenic and pre-Hellenic religious ceremonies. The most famous artifact from this site is a large, half-crumbled statue of Nike, the goddess of victory in ancient Greek mythology. Samothrace is an evolving beast. Keep it heavy… keep it underground. Heavy music for heavy times.

"Its about fucking time we got ourselves over to Europe, and at a badass diy festival like Heavy Days none the less" -Samothrace

It didn´t work out last year, due to unfortunate circumstances, but we are happy to announce that legendary masters of classic doom, PAGAN ALTAR will make their much anticipated appearance at HDDT II!!!

“After the unfortunate cancellation of our planned performance of HDDT 2012 we are very pleased to have been asked again to play at HDDT 2013. With our new album ‘Never Quite Dead’ due to be completed next year, We hope to perform a set covering all the classic favourite tracks along with coverage of our brand new material. See you there….” -Pagan Altar.

To those of you who aren´t familiar with Pagan Altar; They were formed in 1976 by Alan and Terry Jones and are one of the few NWOBHM bands to play doom metal. The band’s concerts are characterised by moody, epic and heavy music, blended with stage effects which accentuate their interest in occult themes. Prepare to be doomed!

Stay tuned for another announcement tomorrow!
"Heavy Days In Doomtown -a DIY celebration of all things slow and heavy" will be a 4 day event from 2nd to 5th of May in Copenhagen, Denmark.
- A warm up show on Thursday (Location will be announced later on)
-3 days of music, art, events and madness at the DIY activist driven social centre Ungdomshuset, Dortheavej 61

The festival is organized by the association "Undergrundsmusikens Fremme" (tran
slated: Undergroundmusic promotion) based in Copenhagen, Denmark. The association has for the past three years been organizing the successful DIY Death Metal Festival "Kill-Town Death Fest" (www.killtowndeathfest.dk) and has now spread its ventures to the doomspectre.

The whole event is organized by the DIY principles, which means that neither the organizers, the bands or the people who work at the fest are making any profit, and our main purpose besides having an amazing fest full of heavy music, is to promote the DIY principles to the genres who doesn’t usually organize this way.

Besides music, were inviting a bunch of great artists to come and make installations, visuals and more before and during the festival to make the expeirence of the fest visual as well as musical.

We hope to see all of you in Copenhagen in May for Europes heaviest underground event of 2013!

All the best//
