AARON SWARTZ: NYC MEMORIAL SERVICE ANNOUNCED

                                                                                                                                                              
A memorial service has been announced for digital pioneer, activist, AARON SWARTZ.                                                                                                       SWARTZ founded REDDIT, CREATIVE COMMONS, RSS, DEMAND PROGRESS and was instrumental in the 2012  ANTI-SOPA/PIPA and CISPA protests. Swartz also co-founded  EFF.   AARON SWARTZ committed suicide last Friday (1/11/2013) in Brooklyn, New York,  SWARTZ was
26.


The AARON SWARTZ memorial service will be held 1/19/2013 Cooper Union's Great Hall, 7 E 7th St (btw 3rd and 4th), 4-6pm. Open to all.

Swartz was due to stand pending federal trial on computer fraud charges scheduled to begin next month. In 2011, Swartz was arrested after prosecutors alleged he hacked MIT computer system and illegally downloaded millions of scientific journals from JSTOR, an online archive within the Massachusetts Institute of Technology network.
