ITP V.013 THE MUSIC BUSINESS: SHOULD CELL PHONES BE BANNED AT CONCERTS and PUBLIC EVENTS ?

Ian Mackaye, owner of Dischord  Records, founding member of post hardcore legends FUGAZI has favored banning cell phones at concerts and public events.
Ian Mackaye, recently lectured college students in New England and asked a student to stop texting during the lecture.

How does cell phone and video technology affect a concert experience and is it distracting?

ITP V.013 EDITORS NOTE:
The real reason for the proposal of banning smart phones at musical concerts is bootleg material and song leaks. Bands will not debut new material live before a release for fear of live bootleg leaks. If you're over 40, live concerts are a new cultural experience with cell phone and video technology, as the mosh pit has been quelled for cell phone filming and pics. Kinda weird as the interactive concert experience is virtual even live.

However, journalists love the live footage as video footage can prove what happened at a show in the context of controversy.
