ANI DIFRANCO: "It has taken me a few days but i have been thinking and feeling very intensely and i would like to say i am sincerely sorry."

U.S. folk rock legend ANI DIFRANCO has issued yet another statement explaining her cancellation of her previously planned "Righteous Retreat", formally set to take place 6/25-29, 2014 @ NOTTOWAY PLANTATION and RESORT, White Castle, Louisiana after public outcry regarding the shows location.

Southern, USA states has revamped plantations (plantations exploited African slave labor pre civil war)  for luxury resorts and hotels.

Originally from Buffalo, NY and now residing in New Orleans, Louisiana,  ANI DIFRANCO is known for pro feminist lyrical themes, marriage equality and she started her own record label in the early 90's (RIGHTEOUS BABE) to avoid corporate control and for artist freedom.

ANI DIFRANCO unleashed  ¿Which Side Are You On? 1/17/2012 via RIGHTEOUS BABE RECORDS.

FROM ANI DIFRANCO:
everyone,it has taken me a few days but i have been thinking and feeling very intensely and i would like to say i am sincerely sorry. it is obvious to me now that you were right; all those who said we can't in good conscience go to that place and support it or look past for one moment what it deeply represents. i needed a wake up call and you gave it to me.
it was a great oversight on my part to not request a change of venue immediately from the promoter. you tried to tell me about that oversight and i wasn't available to you. i'm sorry for that too.
know that i am digging deeper.
