We’re beyond excited to welcome seminal New Orleans, Louisana sluge-legends EYEHATEGOD back to the 20th edition of Roadburn Festival at the 013 venue in Tilburg, The Netherlands, with two sets of their unique, Southern hardcore-blues-sludge-and-doom on Thursday, April 9 at the main stage, and in Het Patronaat, Friday, April 10th.

With its hateful, hopeless, anguished vocals set against extra-slow Iommi-inspired riffing, Eyehategod are credited with founding sludge-core, one of the most vital new genres of metal to emerge from the 1990’s. Countless bands have followed their footsteps, and after more than 20 years of creating some of the most corrosive, vile music known to man, Eyehategod still hasn’t lost the piss and vinegar, propaganda, and despair that fueled them back in 1988

We’re elated, nearly speechless to announce that Dutch prog rock legendsFocus the band have been confirmed for Houses of the Holistic, Ivar Bjørnson‘s and Einar “Kvitrafn” Selvik‘s curated Roadburn event on Friday, April 10 at the 013 venue in Tilburg, The Netherlands.

“If you know anything about prog beyond “old Genesis, not the new stuff”, you know Focus – an extremely influential band for any band in the progressive tradition that came after them; whether its progressive Metal like we try to fool around with, or purer retro-prog (a funny combination of concepts, by the way)”, says Enslaved’s Ivar Bjørnson Official. “Focus embodies everything that is true “Prog” for me: the incorporation of the classical elements, the tongue-in-cheek playfulness across times, genres and geography – and of course extraordinary musicianship. These highly vital legends has also shown amazing form live these days, so having freakin’ FOCUS accepting our invitation for our curated day. To put it simple, straight-forward and un-proggy: a dream come through!!!”

In addition to performing their latest album, Miserable, in its entirety on Thursday, April 9th at the 013 venue in Tilburg, The Netherlands, Chicago instrumental four-piece BONGRIPPER will play a second set on Sunday, April 12th at the traditional Afterburner.

We’re excited to announce that Finland’s own Pekko Käppi & K:H:H:L an dDEATH HAWKS have been confirmed for Houses of the Holistic, Ivar Bjørnson Officialnson‘s and Einar Selvik‘s curated Roadburn event on Friday, April 10 at the 013 venue in Tilburg, The Netherlands.

Tombs is marching ahead boldly with their latest release, Savage Gold (Relapse Records). Their third album is definitely one of this year’s metal masterstrokes. Savage Gold again sees Tombs fusing black and post-metal, but by simplifying their sound the band offers a much heavier, angrier tone, punctuated by breakneck blast beats and high-stacked guitars, ice-sharp melodies and deliberate rhythms — never limiting themselves sonically.

As huge admirers of Tombs blackened ferocity, we simply couldn’t resist bringing this primordial killing machine back to the 20th edition of Roadburn on Saturday, April 11th at Het Patronaat in Tilburg, The Netherlands.

Hailing from the filthy sewers of New York City, Black Anvil have been tearing up the US Black Metal scene since 2008, with their debut Time Insults The Mind and 2010 follow-up Triumvirate turning the band into a ferocious beast, and making them a stable in the Black Metal genre at large.

The band’s latest album, Hail Death, out on Relapse Records, really takes Black Anvil to the next level as its easily one of this year’s finest slabs of extreme savagery — gritty, punishing, rotten and with a touch of diversity and progressiveness, too! Citing Darkthrone, Bad Brains and Metallica as influences, Black Anvil brings together elements of thrash, hardcore and traditional metal all uncompromisingly forged in thick layers of the grimmest black metal this side of Behemoth, Marduk and Watain.

Black Anvil will ultimately hail death at the 20th edition of Roadburn Festival on Saturday, April 11th at the 013 venue in Tilburg, The Netherlands.
