ITP V.016 SPORTS: NY METS CLINCH NATIONAL LEAGUE WILDCARD, MAJOR LEAGUE WILD CARD RACE IS..... WILD!!!

As a middle aged MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL fan, ITP's author remembers the days of yore when a team would clinch their division and leaders of said divisions would go on to the League championship series.
Major League baseball  has caught up to the rest of North American sports with a wild card, divisional championship series, and of course the traditional league and world series battles.
In 2016, Major League baseball are factoring in wild card, perhaps three way tie breakers. Yes, Major League baseball is that competitive.

Does a wild card game and divisional championship series add excitement to the sport of Major League baseball?  Probably. As with a wildcard race, the final stretch of the season can be a nail biter, one wildcard game, and the winner goes off to the divisional series, the winner of that series to the League championship series. As the winner of the League championship goes off to the WORLD SERIES.

A wild card team could possibly get hot, without winning their division,  and perhaps be a Cinderella team, you never know.

THE NY METS clinched a wildcard birth yesterday via a 5-3 win over the Phillies and will host the wild card game 10/5/2016 in New York City, at CITI FIELD vs. either the SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS or St. Louis Cardinals. .

The San Francisco GIANTS have clinched at least a a wild card tie.
National League East divisional winners WASHINGTON NATIONALS (home field advantage) will face the National League West division champs  LA DODGERS for the Divisional Series.

Major League baseballs American League is a nail biter of a run as the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays have at least clinched  wild card ties. The Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox could provoke a three way tie as their WILL be a tie breaker game if necessary.

Confusing yes, and obviously exciting.

Despite injuries to star players DAVID WRIGHT,. MATT HARVEY, JACOB DE GROM and more the NY METS have stayed focused and now have a quality and passionate squad on the field. The NY METS have had an A-MAZING September and excellent run down the stretch.

Ya GOTTA BELIEVE!!

FROM THE NY METS:
#Mets clinch a postseason berth with a 5-3 victory over Philadelphia, marking only the second time in franchise history they've made the postseason in back-to-back seasons
