FROM THE ROLLING STONES:
The Rolling Stones are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Chuck Berry. He was a true pioneer of rock 'n' roll and a massive influence on us. Chuck was not only a brilliant guitarist, singer and performer, but most importantly, he was a master craftsman as a songwriter. His songs will live forever.

FROM JOHN LENNON (ESTATE):
CHUCK BERRY 1926-2017
"Chuck Berry is one of the all-time great poets, a rock poet you could call him. He was well advanced of his time lyric-wise. In the Fifties, when people were virtually singing about nothing, Chuck Berry was writing social-comment songs, with incredible meter to the lyrics. We all owe a lot to him." - John Lennon, 1970
"If you had to give Rock 'n' Roll another name, you might call it Chuck Berry" - John Lennon (with Chuck Berry), Mike Douglas TV Show, 1972

FROM GEORGE TAKEI (ACTOR/ACTIVIST):

A legend has passed. His music was known to many, many generations, and it shall live on in our hearts. Thanks for the Rock and Roll, Chuck. Keep it jammin' out there in the vast after.

FROM PROG POWER FEST:
rest in peace Chuck Berry....there wouldn't be rock n roll without him - Matt

FROM MOTOCULTOR FEST:

RIP Chuck Berry

FROM ROCK IN RIO (FEST):

Today the music is more sad. Pioneer of rock and idol of several generations, the singer and guitarist Chuck Berry on the left, to 90 years, leaving to occupy a place of honor in the world of Legends Immortals. Author of timeless classics as " Johnny B. Goode ", " roll over Beethoven " and " Maybellene ", Chuck Berry leaves the scene to become, definitely, the soul of rock. Thanks, Chuck!

FROM MILES EBERLE:
The greatest innovator of Rock &; Roll is gone. I remember the first time I heard the guitar intro to "Johnny B Goode," I was entranced. Chuck Berry literally took the brunt of the pushback against Rock music when it emerged in the 1950s. First they tried to lock him up for being disruptive to the culture, then when his music couldn't be silenced they gave the credit to Elvis and other white musicians who copied his style, but he was the original. It left him a bitter man who was notoriously difficult to work with. I hope he finds peace in death. Here is my favorite song of his. RIP Chuck Berry.

FROM RIOT FEST:

FROM KEVIN POWELL (ROLLING STONE MUSIC JOURNALIST):
As we mourn the passing and celebrate the life of Chuck Berry, one of rock and roll's greatest pioneers and innovators, I highly recommend this Rolling Stone article by Peter Guralnick, written just a few months before Mr. Berry's death. It captures beautifully all of who Chuck Berry was, who he touched, who he rocked. For those who do not know Mr. Guralnick is one of America's foremost authorities on music history, and one of our best music biographers, too.
