Heaven Shall Burn 
This band from Thüringen does not only in Germany belong to one of the most successful metalcore bands of the present. With early records like “Whatever It May Take”, “Antigone” but also with the so called “Iconclast” trilogy and their latest output “Veto” they gained a huge fan base all around the world and are known for their heavy brutal shows. For the 25th Anniversary they will not be missed and will once again destroy the holy ground. Be prepared! 

J.B.O. 
Their appearance is a guarantee for fun! Their last W:O:A appearance of the German cult comedy metal band was in 2009. Enough reason to let the pink army faction again into the Holy Ground once again! 

Devin Townsend Project 
Devin Townsend is back! The musical genius was playing at Wacken only once before – about 16 years ago – and now he will return to perform at the W:O:A anniversary. 
Next to his solo projects he was also the head of famous band Strapping Young Lad and overall he has released 20 studio albums by now. It’s hard to classify the music genre because of this mass of releases, but the most obvious style seems to be progressive metal . 

Sodom 
Besides the already confirmed Kreator we can now announce the next Thrash Metal legend for the Anniversary! 
Tom Angelripper and his Thrash-Metal comrades have just released their newest album "Epitome Of Torture" and will for sure break some necks at the upcoming W:O:A. 

Onkel Tom 
Tom Angelripper again. Besides his live appearance with Sodom he also won´t miss the Anniversary with his solo band "Onkel Tom". 
That means party mood is preprogrammed!!! 

Decapitated 
In the last decade a lot has happened with the polish death metal band Decapitated and not many other bands would have been able to bring up the strength to proceed after the strokes of fate the band has suffered. But that´s history and the polish death metal spearhead is more than ready to return once again to Wacken and blow the audience away! 

For The Imperium 
Let´s proceed with a Wacken debutant. To describe the style of this band from Finland is not easy. The sound of this band is combining progressive, alternative and avant-garde elements in a really refreshing way. They already gained a lot of fame in their home country Finland and are now ready to conquer the rest of Europe and world! 

The Ocean 
Another Wacken debutant. The band was originally founded in Berlin but due to the origin of most of the current band members they are now situated in Switzerland. 
Since their founding their sound changed as often as their line-up and their style is currently settled somewhere between Mastodon and Deftones with a creativity that is hard to compare to other bands. Check them out! 

Endstille 
The German black metal battleship Endstille returns to Wacken Open Air in 2014 and before they will release the new album Kapitulation 2013. Get ready for war! 

Torment 
Torment is without any doubt one of the pioneers of German thrash metal scene and in 2014 they will celebrate their 30th Anniversary. The band furthermore belongs to the Wacken pioneers too: They played their first W:O:A show back in 1993. 

Masterplan 
German power metal band Masterplan returns to Wacken after 10 years of abstinence. Shortly before they will release their fifth studio album “Novum Initium”! 

Knorkator 
Germany’s most band in the world is back! What? Yeah, exactly! The fun metal band will return to W:O:A in 2014 and we’re looking forward to hilarious piggy-back pogo pits and the world’s greatest mass handstand. 

A Pale Horse Named Death 
A Pale Horse Named Death plays music which fits in the gap between Type O Negative and Alice in Chains and in 2013 they released their second album. This classification isn’t a coincidence, the band consists of metal veterans and some of them also played at Type O Negative itself. And in 2014 it will be finally time for the big one: For W:O:A!

GOROD's Nicolas Alberny joins ANTROPOFAGO. French technical death metal band ANTROPOFAGO, once dubbed by Rock Hard as being part of "The three best Death Metal bands from France's nextgen" alongside label-mates AD PATRES and INSAIN, have boasted guitar-crafting wizard Hugo Mermet (maker of custom guitars for Gorod, Insain and many more) in its ranks for most of the band's existence. However, it has always been understood that a time might come where Mermet's business would hinder his ability to be a full-time contributor to ANTROPOFAGO. That time came recently when the band was at work on their upcoming full-length album, Aera Dementiae. Thus, a mutual decision was made to find a suitable replacement once the recording process was finished.   That replacement was quickly found in GOROD guitarist Nicolas Alberny. With ANTROPOFAGO's fetish for musicianship, guitar and technique, it was no surprise that a guitarist of Alberny's caliber would answer the band's call. Having already recorded some guest parts for the new album, Alberny knew what to expect once he joined the fold.   Guitarist Gordon Huillery comments, "Since Hugo joined ANTROPOFAGO three years ago, the deal was clear - having fun while playing a brutal brand of Technical Death Metal without messing with his job as a luthier. His business is growing, orders are following one an other and it became clear time has come for him to focus on his main goal : building awesome guitars. We both decided it was time to search for a replacement, even though he obviously stays an important element of the band's surrounding as our guitar-crafter and, most important, as a close friend. When people started to get aware of the fact we were searching for a new guitarist, we received a lot of applications, the first one being from Nicolas. We know each other since sometimes now, we get along well and, knowing his work for GOROD, it was obvious he has the needed technical level to join the band. I'm happy we're still working as a family and Hugo will always be around as he's building guitars for both bands and will continue filling-in for Nico if he has to work with GOROD, which obviously stays his main priority." Dear Hardcore family worldwide,

We come to you in a time of need to help us tell the story of the Pennsylvania Hardcore scene.  We are often overlooked and in the shadow of New York.  Although the history of hardcore in PA dates back to as early as 1980. We want to keep this as DIY and as true to the vision we have without distorting the truth, manipulating events or footage as possible.  that being said, we would like to release this ourselves; keep "the man" out of the loop.  No corporate bullshit, no censorship, no "punk" labels/distributors using the name in a false way to help line their own pockets.  We at Average Superstar Films are 2 hardcore kids that grew up in the PA scene.  We've seen a lot and we've been learning a lot since we started this journey   We want the world to see the truth, all bullshit and drama aside, the way things should be.  This is coming straight from us to you; to all the people who gave all they had to give to support this scene...from the new kids to the veterans.  People all across the state have been reaching out to us, letting us know that the voice of PA needs to be heard.

So far we have only covered the Eastern half of PA.  Up next is the West side (Erie and Pittsburgh).  We have about 60% of the entire film completed and we need your help to finish the rest.  We have close to 100 interviews with band members, promoters and people from every era of hardcore in the state.  We aren't stopping there and we plan on taking it to the next level.  

Unfortunatly, we don't have the financial backing or investors to provide us with the funds to help us get this edited by a team, pressed, distrubuted & a limited run of posters and shirts.  So far we have paid for this out of our own pockets, putting both our hearts and souls into this project. 

If you would like to help by doing more then just donating, you can do so by getting us footage from shows, pictures and flyers.  We keep things updated on our Facebook page almost daily and you can come to us with any questions, concerns...pretty much anything you want to know or have to say.  

This scene was written by us the fans and we would like to see the film done the same way.

 "On Monday a large branch fell off a tree I was cutting and knocked the ladder I was on out from under me. I fell 8 feet off the ladder onto the sidewalk and luckily was able to throw the chainsaw away from me on the way down. I broke my left wrist and right elbow. I will be going "under the knife" this Friday to correct the breaks and start the healing process. Jamey, Wayne, Matt, Frank and our manager Steve have all been very supportive and I look forward to getting back out on the stage as soon as I can. Why is metal so popular in Fryslân?
Fryslân DOK about the Frisian metal scene

Anyone who still associates Holland only with cheese, wooden shoes and tulips should reconsider that image by adding METAL to the list. Extreme music has always been very popular in that small country nearby the North Sea. Especially in the northern area of Holland, the province called Fryslân (Friesland). A documentary about the flourishing metal scene in Fryslân is now taking form and will be broadcasted on Sunday November 10th on Dutch national television and will be released on YouTube soon after. It's titled ‘In hert foar hurd’ (‘A heart for heavy’).

Frisian documentary maker Douwe Talma explores his local metal scene in this documentary to find out why extreme music is so popular in the Northern area of Holland. What is the current state of the Frisian and (inter-)national metal scene? How does the heavy metal scene develop in the changing music industry?

The documentary features interviews with Frisian metal bands, fans, festival organisers and the Dutch metal magazine Aardschok. It also contains live footage taken at the most recent editions of both Frisian metal festivals Into The Grave and Dokk 'Em Open Air and shows an exclusive interview with Paradise Lost on their way to their headlining show of the Into The Grave festival.
