UTLEY was OUT before he even slid out of the bass line. UTLEY, guessing he was out, went back to the dug out as CHASE has a horrid history of dirty play, specifically vs. the NY METS.
Rule 6.01 (6)
(COURTESY OF SNY):
RUBEN TEJADA was in an awkward position. Usually shortstops and second baseman are FACING the base runner and can leap out of the way of a runner trying to take them out. TEJADA's back was turned to the base runner and CHASE blind sided him. It would be unlikely TEJADA would make the double play, even if CHASE wasn't intent on "taking him out" in a dirty manner, TEJADA courageously made the force play.
And after a review, the umpire BLEW the call stating UTLEY was SAFE: So "In the neighborhood", runner interference and the runner leaving the field without touching the base was NOT considered?
Shameful.
The METS, in team unity, should wear TEJADA's number on their uniforms, an inspiration and motivation, the best revenge is success.
THE NY METS must win this series, and WIN it for their fallen team mate TEJADA.

THE NY METS lost game 2 of the series 5-2.
The NATIONAL LEAGUE DIVISION SERIES (NY METS VS. LA DODGERS) IS TIED AT 1-1 (BEST OF 5 SERIES).
