German one man project THE RUINS OF BEVERAST sear into the darkest recesses of pathology.
The solo project of former NAGELFAR drummer Alexander Van Meilenwald, THE RUINS OF BEVERAST evoke smothering, dark atmospherics into a creepy ritual of blackened death/doom metal.

THE RUINS OF BEVERAST  "BLOOD VAULTS: THE BLAZING GOSPEL OF HEINRICH KRAMER" kicks off with the track "Apologia", a dark spoken word piece backed by some spooky ambient keyboards, chanting and an occasional tribal drum roll segueing into "Daemon".

THE RUINS OF BEVERAST "Daemon" blasts in from it's spoken word segue and you life is complete. THE RUINS OF BEVERAST "Daemon" is a minimalistic black metal opus, epic in both death and black metal rasps, light your candles burn some incense.

THE RUINS OF BEVERAST "Daemon" slows down into some unholy blackened death/doom (2:49), epic with power riffing, and very spooky vocals. THE RUINS OF BEVERAST "Daemon" evokes a vocal quality production (5:19), as Alexander Van Meilenwald consolidates awesome black metal rasps and blast beats into oblivion.

THE RUINS OF BEVERAST "Malefica" kicks off with an interesting (almost start and stop) vocal effect, and twangy guitar, seguing into light melodic guitars. Clean vocals smoke the embers of  "Malefica's" fire, as the ritual evokes a mesmerizing epic for an awesome, dark ballad.

THE RUINS OF BEVERAST "Ornaments on Malice" enters with sparse spoken word, seguing into tight, mid paced blackened metal.  THE RUINS OF BEVERAST "Ornaments on Malice" evokes a subtle approach to the art of the riff, as a twangy riff, repetitive, creeps into a subconscious.  "Ornaments on Malice" takes a slower turn, as the floor drops (3:12) and THE RUINS OF BEVERAST delve into darker, ambient, recesses chanting into a heavy, sludgy, destructive epic.

THE RUINS OF BEVERAST  "Spires The Wailing City", enters with a sparse, twangy riff, and that genius vocal effect of spooky spoken word. "Spires The Wailing City" slowly crawls from the coffin, and walks a slow pace from the grave as THE RUINS OF BEVERAST evoke a subconscious melody as the tune stands up like a zombie from the cemetery and speaks right to you. I can imagine "Spires The Wailing City", with THE RUINS OF BEVERAST  tribal drumming, evoking a soundscape to an epic, and sensual chase of nightmares, a funeral pace of shadows following you in the dark.

THE RUINS OF BEVERAST "A Failed Exorcism"  enters with an understated, and twangy, mind bending riff, into a tight blackened mid paced, sludgy hell ride. THE RUINS OF BEVERAST "A Failed Exorcism", takes a deep turn into quality middle eastern influenced tribal drumming and excellent, clean vocal chanting, creepy sensual walk into hell, and as you are enraptured,  (the) "Failed Exorcism" takes on a brutal life of it's own, as the shadows of THE RUINS OF BEVERAST follow you unto a doomed left hand path.

THE RUINS OF BEVERAST "Trial", a primarily instrumental breather of a track,  kicks off with a combo of beautiful gregorian chanting consolidated with spoken word as the drum beat evoke a mesmerizing death march from your darkest nightmares.

THE RUINS OF BEVERAST "Ordeal", is an epic ritual of an understated (guitar) synth riff, awesome female spoken word, as that understated " guitar synth riff" backed by brutal blast beats and blackened thrash is perhaps the most underrated and understated tunes of 2013, "Shall I fear, shall I fear".

THE RUINS OF BEVERAST:  "BLOOD VAULTS: THE BLAZING GOSPEL OF HEINRICH KRAMER" closes with "Monument", a slow, snails crawl and lightly tinkled guitar as the embers of "Monument" begin to burn. THE RUINS OF BEVERAST "Monument" segues into a louder dynamic (3:39), as the embers of "Monument" are up in flames, and there she whispers spoken words.
THE RUINS OF BEVERAST "Monument" wanders on with some understated riffing, and some down right creepy chanting...

THE RUINS OF BEVERAST:  "BLOOD VAULTS: THE BLAZING GOSPEL OF HEINRICH KRAMER" features improved and very understated production. Compared to THE RUINS OF BEVERAST epic "FOULEST SEMEN OF A SHELTERED ELITE",  Alexander Van Meilenwald takes on a different vocal approach complemented by inventive production techniques.

THE RUINS OF BEVERAST:  "BLOOD VAULTS: THE BLAZING GOSPEL OF HEINRICH KRAMER" morphs into an understated cauldron of crusty blackened metal and a passionate death/doom/sludge ritual, an epic consolidation of impulses, seducing you from the coffin into a malicious reflection of the darkest shadows of your fears.

In this inquisition, THE RUINS OF BEVERAST have an evoked a unique soundscape to an epic masterpiece, a mind bender for not only 2013, for the ages.
