MARYLAND DEATH FEST 2024 5/23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th, 2024 BALTIMORE, MARYLAND ANNOUNCE: CARPATHIAN FOREST CANCEL, MAYHEM CONFIRMED


  Promoters for MARYLAND DEATH FEST 2024, set to take place 5/23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th, 2024 BALTIMORE, MARYLAND have announced  CARPATHIAN FOREST have cancelled and Norwegian black metal legends MAYHEM have been confirmed to take their place.

 

 

 MARYLAND DEATH FEST 2024, set to take place 5/23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th, 2024 BALTIMORE, MARYLAND have announced MY DYING BRIDE have cancelled the bands appearance at the fest to be replaced by AGALLOCH.

MDF 2024 lineup update & set times!
Firstly, we regret to inform you that Carpathian Forest have been forced to cancel due to lingering visa issues. We've been having good luck with other bands receiving visa approvals, but Carpathian Forest was not the beneficiary of such luck. In all our years of doing this, this if the first time we've received an outright denial on a visa petition, and this was after responding appropriately to the "Request for Evidence" that we received in late February. We ended up filing an appeal - and paying an additional fee to do so - but we have not received an update on the appeal in over a month. Due to the unresponsiveness by the USCIS and no longer having time to complete the visa process even if the appeal is successful, it was mutually agreed between MDF and band that we need to address the cancellation now.
Despite the short notice, MAYHEM have confirmed and will fill the vacant slot on Sunday, May 26th.

“Death Angel unfortunately wasn’t able to play our show last night in Recife, Brazil.
Our crew went to the venue and spent tireless hours doing everything possible to make the show happen.
Including fixing many damaged parts of the P.A. system the venue provided.
and trying to help them find equipment the venue didn’t even have to make the show possible..
In a city that our crew is not even from or familiar with.
Including ground lifts that are needed for our U.S. wired equipment that without them could potentially result in electrocution to the band.
And..
That isn’t part of our crew’s job.
But!
They..
Just like every member of this band are music fans, First and foremost..
and..
We all love what we do.
Put on live shows for our incredible fans all over the world.
And..
We go out of our way to perform and give the best show we can give the fans under almost all circumstances..
Including ill health, etc..
We are not a band that cancels shows flippantly.
We haven’t played Recife, Brazil in thirteen and a half years!
That being said we were very much looking forward to it.
As we have fond memories about how passionate and wild crowd was last time.
However after many hours of our crew going above and beyond the call helping repair a very damaged P.A. system that doesn’t even belong to us..
Out of their love for live music performances..
They simply couldn’t repair all of the damage.
Or find the equipment needed in a city they are not from.
So..
After putting in all of the effort that they could.
Unfortunately Death Angel was unable to play the show..
Which was devastating to us..
We’d like to take this moment to apologize to our amazing fans in Recife!
We will to make it up to you in the future with a proper live performance!
And it shall surpass the incredible energy we all exchanged thirteen and a half years ago!
We’d also like to thank our incredible and tireless crew!

Ahead of the eagerly awaited new album ‘It Beckons Us All’, the band give fans a final tease of what is awaiting them with the release of the official video for “The Bird People Of Nordland”.

From Fenriz - "This is Ted's song so a bit hard for me to comment on it musically but I will tell you all what I think when I hear it:
First of we have a typical grim Ted riff for the verse, then he surprises with a catchy riff for the refrain AND THEN comes my fave part of the album; the post-refrain riff which sounds like Queensryche 1984 style and you can also hear how much we enjoy to play it! EXACTLY where I want to be! Could have played that riff for 8 minutes straight, haha! This loops again with the refrain again without singing and then back to Queensryche '84. Then first riff again with my added harmony guitar playing on it, what our studio man Ole Øvstedal called "the Corleone part".
A break arrives and then things are sped up (not faster than Yardbirds in 64, we are not an extreme metal band, more like MODERAT EPIC) which corresponds with a slower heavy metal riff where we also brought out the mellotrone if I remember correctly.
Then Ted bombs you with a final part, primitive d-beat thrash with a riff that sounds like Tom G Warrior made it and I also ordered Ted to lay on some hellish guitars. Anyway, I LIVE for that Queensrÿche 84 riff, Ted!"
