Well, here we are on BLOGSPOT as AOL JOURNAL users have been migrating here. I'm just getting used to BLOGSPOT being new to this BSP, so bear with me. INDIVIDUAL THOUGHT PATTERNS is an extreme metal based journal with news, reviews and maybe some interviews within the best of extreme metal. By DECEMBER this journal should be updated on the regular, and also by that time, an EDITED and abriged version of this journal should be on a secondary server. No one and I mean NO ONE can keep us down. Look for feeds via BLOGLINES, TECHNORATI, and FEEDBURNER coming soon on ITP.
In extreme metal news, the organizers of the BEST extreme metal fest in the USA have announced a few legendary bands due on the bill for the 2009 Maryland Death Fest: ENSLAVED, BOLT THROWER, and MARDUK.
Rumors have been spread that MARDUK will join MAYHEM on thier spring 2009 U.S. tour, as those rumors, while still unconfirmed are most likely TRUE and I'm also hearing UNCONFIRMED rumors about PRIMORDIAL (IRELAND) on the MAYHEM (spring) 2009 U.S. tour.

What better way to welcome in the Halloween weekend than with an extensive list of bands that were recently confirmed for MDF? We actually expected a few more bands to be included in this announcement, but sometimes things take a bit longer than expected. We'll follow up with another announcement of a few bands as early as next week, and that will also signify the end of the booking process for MDF 2009.
We apologize to those who were expecting tickets to go on sale earlier, but we aren’t able to set a ticket price until all bands have been confirmed. Tickets will definitely go on sale on Friday, November 7th, so check the website then.

Just announced to appear at MDF 2009:

Bolt Thrower
Swallow the Sun
The Red Chord
Rotten Sound
Keep of Kalessin
Trap Them
Agenda of Swine
Pretty Little Flower
Complete Failure
Hero Destroyed

Bolt Thrower has released this bit of news regarding their first trip to the USA in 14 years:

Death metal legends BOLT THROWER have issued the following statement regarding their appearance at next year’s Maryland Deathfest:

“Due to the fact that we are not real festival lovers or great fans of flying, the chances of us ever coming to the States for a one-off show was always very small. But after years of relentless emails from Ryan we’ve finally given in. It’s hard to believe that it’s been 14 years since we last played in the US, so we are very happy to announce that we are finally coming back. BOLT THROWER will be playing Maryland Deathfest VII, on May 22-24, 2009, at Sonar, Baltimore, MD.

Also, in a few weeks time we will be announcing the only European festival show we will be playing next year. We’ll keep you posted on both shows as soon as we have more info.”

Before I close this journal on AOL, EVERYONE in the extreme metal/black metal scene in Europe and in the USA would like to send a mighty hails and metal horns to NEGURA BUNGET. For we all know that NEGURA BUNGET are NOT nazi's or fascists and do NOT preach those awful ideals. NEGURA BUNGET combine Romanian folk with atmospheric post black metal, and are only one of my favorite bands, and do I look WHITE to you? I'm one quarter Cherokee Indian, half black and whatever, maybe of middle eastern descent. NEGURA BUNGET musical ethos is that of nature, humanism and ancient Romanian spiritualism. Quite the opposite of black metal, as nihilism, seems to be the trendy ideal in that genre. I don't think any other band is on this Euro tour with NEGURA BUNGET with exception of regional support. While NEGURA BUNGET are a post black metal band, and in black metal, anything goes, I doubt they draw nazi's, as much as they are getting the respect they finally deserve.
Bands that are national socialist (nazi ideals): Burzum, Graveland, Averse Sefiria, Taake, Nokturnal Mortum, Arghoslent NOT NEGURA BUNGET..Perhaps we need to look no further than the governments of these countries and these politicians to see whom the real oppressors are, specifically in the middle of an economic depression in our country with inflation so high that people can barely afford to EAT, let alone attend a concert.

"We've been informed that Spanish and French police are investigating NEGURA BUNGET's European tour and that there are rumors about cancelling shows because the band is suspected of being Nazi sympathizers or ultranationalists... Well, this is ridiculous. We signed NEGURA BUNGET in 2000, we know the guys in the band quite well after 8 years of positive collaboration, and everyone who has had a chance to meet the band during their tours knows that NEGURA BUNGET is probably the most humble, talented, down to earth and friendly band in the whole black metal scene, where 90% of the black metal bands speaks about violence, hate, satan or whatever is 'evil' or 'wrong. NEGURA BUNGET stands for humanity, nature and emotions. There is NOTHING in their music and lyrics about Nazism or fascism; they NEVER supported such organizations. There's an official statement about this in their website that is online since maybe 2002 and I really can't imagine how police can be so wrong."

Here are some honorable mentions of metal and music documentaries, most of whom I've mentioned in the journal before.
1.DIG; DIG documents the rivalries of two Northwest rock bands (Brian Jonhstown Massacre vs. The Dandy Warhols) as the BJM self destruct via their bi polar vocalist.
2 SATAN RIDES THE MEDIA: Mandatory film for journalism majors as a Bergen newspaper journalist helps to investigate and solve the Norwegian church burnings and subsequent murders provoked by the second wave of Norwegian black metal.

3.HEAVY METAL IN BAGHDAD- VBS TV and VICE cover Iraqi heavy metal band Acrassicauda, as said band come of age during the trauma of the USA's invasion of IRAQ.  Acrassicauda, whom are now refugees in TURKEY have more courage, brutality than most extreme metal bands worldwide."Heavy Metal in BAGHDAD" is not just a metal story, but a story of humanity, strength and courage in the face of a pro Islamic government and religious suppression of metal culture.

4.HEAVY METAL PARKING LOT 2000 Remember those HUGE arena and stadium shows and the great parking lot parties. HMPL takes you back to the 80's, to the parking lots at JUDAS PRIEST shows, where the FANS opinions are law, as the fans OWN YOU. HEAVY METAL PARKING LOT 2000 takes you to the parking lot of an AC/CD show with the awesome fans that follow them.

The ONE AOL Journal that should NEVER be deleted "I shaved my legs for this" on AOL

.America REALLY needs socialized health care, I mean come on.
At this time, as AOL hometown/journals close their doors. Someone asked me if I read the journals of others. I replied sometimes, but rarely. One of the most popular, most posted and commented journals on AOL was the incomparable, award winning, "I shaved my legs for this":  http://journals.
When I updated my journal, while logged in, AOL journals would show who updated their journal, how recent, the most commented journals ect.
At first I giggled at this woman's journal titled "I shaved my legs for this", then I got curious and peaked in. The author of "I shaved my legs for this" was battling stage 2 breast cancer as her journal was a document to her courage, integrity, and dignity battling this terminal disease.
Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE on AOL was pulling for the author of "I shaved my Legs for This". When the author of "ISMLFT" would update her journal, I was relieved, and gave her the metal horns, nodding my head, for it meant she's fighting the good fight, hanging in there, and made it through the day.
I did hear, late last year, that the author of "I shaved my Legs for this" did pass away. My reaction was "Nooooooooooooooo!", no, bring her back, she hasn't updated her journal, come back, and stay alive". "I shaved my legs for this" is a standing testament to hope, courage and strength in the face of terminal illness, and of course her journal puts life in perspective.
Of course, I've had the unfortunate experience of losing family members to cancer and Leukemia (my foster sister, died of childhood Leukemia at the age of 13 as I was 15 or 16) and to see them suffer through such an illness was a devastating experience.
I'm not sure, but knowing AOL is just a bot, I do think that "ISMLFT" should NEVER be deleted. I hope the family of "ISMLFT"  saved/saves her journal, that would be a good idea.
Of course, AOL journals are NOT bots, for we are REAL PEOPLE, going through real life issues.
So a mighty hails, standing ovation, and bow to author of "I shaved my legs for This" for her courage, and the ability to communicate and share her thoughts. Attitude is everything.

METAL AT THE MOVIES/RPG's (PART 5): Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth RPG (SCORE: Greg Chandler)

(Role Playing Games-X-BOX, WINDOWS MEDIA). I sort of grew out of video and role playing games. However for many, RPG's are a HOBBY. If you've checked out the RPG "Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth" the music for the RPG is scored by none other than Greg Chandler of the British funeral doom project ESOTERIC.
There is a remixed version of "Beneath this Face" (from ESOTERIC's latest release "The Maniacal Vale") on the soundtrack of "Dark Corners" RPG.
I looked more into this and.... no, this must be something more than a coincidence. Was somebody of you working on the soundtrack and reuse it or is this a direct tribute to it? Don't have the booklet at hand to check for any liner notes.

Check out the Dark Corners of the Earth -trailer here and pay notice to the music:

Now, play the Esoteric tune starting from the 10 minute mark and compare these two. I made it even easier for you, download this mp3:

At first you'll hear the DCotE soundtrack, then Esoteric, then both mixed on top of each other. Played in the exact same tempo, key and structure.

Ahah! Never mind, just dug out my copy of the game and looked through the credits! Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, music by Greg Chandler, damn good soundtrack I might add. This explains alot then. It was just strange to hear the familiar music again after two years since the game was released.
ITP: "Beneath This Face" is an AWESOME song from funeral doom legends ESOTERIC. "Dark Corners" is a great RPG and great soundtrack.
Do check out British funeral doom legends ESOTERIC's latest release the "Maniacal Vale" out now on Season Of Mist.

I'm getting this message on top of my journals, but then again, EVERYTHING on AOL is a bot. If you're late on your bill, the news section on AOL will say speak to the billing department. However, I've been hearing rumors that AOL HOMETOWN/JOURNALS is done/zippo/closing.
However, this journal (ITP) WILL continue. Like I've said before, we will take the two BEST of each month of journal entries and move an EDITED and shortened version of this journal to an undisclosed server, and I guarantee it will get more hits/traffic in a more metal oriented community. Nothing against AOL, it's been awesome and fun. After I'm done with the metal movie/documentary series, that's it for ITP on AOL and by HALLOWEEN ITP will be on a new blog server with plenty of "friends" reading it. BTW, AOL HOMETOWN/JOURNALS is CLOSING SO ALL AOL JOURNALS are EFFECTED not just ITP, BACK UP YOUR FILES AND ENTRIES.
Some will miss ITP on AOL, some are relieved, and MOST are looking forward to ITP joining a free server, AND friends of mine will get an e-mail real soon for the ITP V.08 premier.
Thanks to EVERYONE whom has every read this beast of journal (since 2004), the AOL METAL CHAT/UNHOLY METAL for the inspiration (or pissing me off enough to do this), the love of solitary activities, despair and the comfort of extreme metal, writing, my motivation for writing, to improve my writing, first amendment rights, social injustice,  EXTREME METAL, the metal heads, and of course YOU the reader.
MY FAVE JOURNAL ENTRY ON ITP:  "Jerry Fallwell's Death" (2007) and few others. (I'm still rolling over the pic, lol). "My own death hoax" (deleted) April 1st, 2004..It's hard to pic one..I think the journal improved once I got serious and less personal/personable in 2007.

We're back to my series on metal movies and documentaries. NRK, a Norwegian entertainment program did a comprehensive special on the KVLT extreme metal genre black metal. Of course, the Norwegian program, with English subtitles, has in depth interviews with MAYHEM, DARKTHRONE, SATRYICON, DIMMU BORGIR, ENSLAVED and many others in the Norwegian black metal scene.
Unfortuanatly, the "You Tube" version of the NRK black metal documentary series embedding is disabled, so no preview on ITP, but go here to view this awesome black metal documentary four part series in it's entireity.

Ok, I've been very busy with my own life, so I'm a little late on this. Check out the HBO documentaries PARADISE LOST one and two about the horrific 1993 slayings of three Arkansas children.Of course these two aforementioned HBO documentaries are very difficult to watch, and NOT shallow entertainment.  Many musicians, and others feel that the WEST MEMPHIS THREE (Jesse Misskelly, Jason Baldwin, Damien Echols) are innocent due to an unfair trial, "Satanic Panic" and incompetent legal defense.
However, it does NOT look good for the West Memphis Three right now, as Damien Echols has been DENIED a new trial.
We wish all the friends, family of the deceased in this case, and all the very best, and we'll wait and see.
Also, check out the West Memphis Three forum on the WM3.Org site, for insightful analysis of the WM3 case.

Judge Burnett has denied Damien's, Jessie's, and Jason's Motions for a New Trial.  In Echols' Order, the Judge claimed "the Petitioner's DNA testing results are not compelling evidence that he would be acquitted."  Judge Burnett also refused to consider the jury issues: "The Court agrees with the State that it cannot entertain the Petitioner's juror bias and misconduct claims under the DNA-testing statute and that the Court's consideration of them in any proceeding is foreclosed by law of the case."  According to KATV, the defense team plans to appeal.
