Egyptian heavy metal fans recently guested on a talk show rejecting the age old stereotypes of Zionism and Satan worshiping in Muslim society.

The following excerpts are from an interview with heavy metal fans in Egypt, which aired on Dream 2 TV on February-March, 2010.

Interviewer: You like heavy metal music, but unfortunately, you have to deal with many misconceptions in our society, which views you, at times… Let’s be frank, people call you Satan worshippers. I am sure you’ve heard this. I was surprised to hear that some of your parties have developed into a national security issue.

Nirmin Magdi, fine arts student: Heavy metal is just music. It has nothing to do with Satan worshipping.

Bassem Ali, student of pharmaceutics: I would like to say something. It’s better to play guitar or have a hobby than watch porn films on the Internet.

Karim ‘Ammad, student of hotel management: Instead of accusing us of worshipping Satan or whatever, they should talk to us and try to understand the way we think.

Tuhami Muntasir, former advisor to the Mufti of Egypt: It has become clear that this is being funded, and that it is sponsored organized Zionist activity. They get money from various sources – maybe from Cyprus, maybe from Israel… What they do at their parties…

Interviewer: Do you get money from any source?

Karim ‘Ammad: If we did, would we be in such a poor state? What money? This is the first time I’m hearing this claim.

Tuhami Muntasir: I am talking about confessions of people who were caught…

Karim ‘Ammad: What you said sums it up. You’re talking about the past. Today there’s nothing…

Tuhami Muntasir: I am talking about confessions of people who were caught… I am not done yet.

Bassem Ali: Go ahead, finish.

Tuhami Muntasir: Let me tell you that the phenomenon that we are witnessing right now is a clear manifestation of a well-funded Zionist campaign, which is based on a “constitution” – The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. With your permission, I am not done yet. Protocols of the Elders of Zion – that founding constitution… What does Zionism want to accomplish? You are an intellectual, and you know this. It wants to rule the world.

Interviewer: Let’s be reasonable.

Tuhami Muntasir: It wants to rule the world. Let me finish. It wants to rule the world. Zionism has means to do so, and it has priorities. The Zionists say: We will establish clubs and we will draw people, who have certain characteristics and who are willing to collaborate, and we will bring them to the top of the pyramid…

Interviewer: But they are not spies…

Tuhami Muntasir: The third priority of the Elders of Zion is drug trafficking, and facilitating the spread of abomination, so that societies become enslaved to their desires and urges…

Interviewer: Let’s return to the heavy metal fans…

Tuhami Muntasir: That way, the countries will collapse with no need to resort to weapons. Ruling the world is the real and stated goal of global Zionism.

Interviewer: The question that needs to be asked is what this has to do with these young people, who like heavy metal music, wear these clothes, and perform these rites?

Tuhami Muntasir: How can they say they like heavy metal, if they haven’t listened to Umm Kulthum, Abd Al-Halim Hafez, Farid Al-Atrash, Amr Diab, and all the other singers? This is beyond the question of whether you like this music or not. This has become an ideology. There is an organized ideology aimed at alienating and dissolving one’s identity.

Bassem Ali: This is a form of art, just like cinema. Don’t make me repeat myself. It is a form of art that expresses emotion. It is a hobby. If you want to listen to heavy metal – go ahead, but what’s this got to do with Satan? You’d think they sit around in talk shows and discuss how to improve the religion, while we are busy worshipping Satan? The hell with Satan! To hell with Satan! To hell with all satans – from the tiniest one around to the minister of all satans! I say to hell with Satan. Who would curse the one he worships?!

Tuhami Muntasir: The answer to that is their mouths say things that are not in their hearts.

Bassem Ali: My God! Why do you say that? Do you doubt what’s in my heart?

If this is a Zionist conspiracy, it has failed. No one can influence us. We’ve been brought up on Islam and its principles.

A five-minute song will never lead you to make a crucial decision in your life. If you are too lazy to get up in the morning, you listen to a song and it gives you the energy to go to work. It does not make you commit suicide or spread corruption. Crucial decisions like that are motivated by the general situation. A person studies for 20 years, gets diplomas, and can’t find work.

NEUROT Records has announced the release of HAWKIND TRIAD, a Various Artists cover release with covers from MINSK, U.S. CHRISTMAS and HARVESTMAN.
Presenting The Hawkwind Triad - HARVESTMAN, U.S. CHRISTMAS & HARVEST

To see official release this May via Neurot Recordings, the Hawkwind Triad album is a fitting tribute to the British band that somehow seems to simultaneously remain unknown to the majority of the world’s rock listeners, while also standing as one of the most influential psychedelic bands of all time.

The Triad is unique, as it is an album of covers by three separate artists that essentially flows like an album. Each band -- HARVESTMAN (Steve Von Till of NEUROSIS’ psych guitar based project), MINSK, and U.S. CHRISTMAS -- have approached these 11 iconic songs with respect, but each have also recognized the need for the songs to be reinterpreted in a new space and time. The result is a full-length psychedelic feast that not only captures the feel of Hawkwind’s individual songs, but also has the feel of their classic albums. Even the artwork by Boston artist Thomas Saraceno appropriately provides trippy surrealist scenes fitting to many albums from the 70s. Most of all, the Triad was done out of pure veneration for a band than laid a solid foundation for every heavy, trippy, weirdo band that exists now – as well as for those who will freak out in the future.

Hawkwind Triad Tracklist:
U.S. Christmas - "Master of the Universe"
MINSK - "7x7"
HARVESTMAN - "Down Through The Night"
MINSK - "Assault and Battery/The Golden Void"
U.S. Christmas - "Psychedelic Warlords"
MINSK - "Children of the Sun"
U.S. Christmas - "Orgone Accumulator"
HARVESTMAN - "The Watcher"
U.S. Christmas - "You Shouldn't Do That"

Candlelight Records: Late Springtime Releases And Upcoming Tours

Candlelight Records today confirms the label’s springtime releases including new albums from BLAZE BAYLEY and OCTOBER FILE. The albums follow the label’s recent successes with FEAR FACTORY, IHSAHN – both Billboard chart entries – and THE BREATHING PROCESS. The label also confirms touring activities for FEAR FACTORY and HAVOK.

England’s OCTOBER FILE returns with the release of their second full length album. With hopes to expand their American profile, Our Souls to You features eleven new songs. Dark, aggressive, and angular, the band spent the better part of a year laboring over the album’s material. Bassist Steve Beatty notes, “we spent a year writing and rehearsing, taking our time and arguing intensely. We feel it’s been worth it.” Our Souls to You includes a bonus disc featuring production work by Justin Broadrick (Godflesh). Metal Hammer says OCTOBER FILE “burns with all the fiery, punk-spirited menace of Black Flag and the fervent apocalyptic brimstone of Killing Joke, but with a sound that’s all their own.” OCTOBER FILE has toured Europe with Killing Joke, Prong and most recently completed dates with Fear Factory. Confirmed track listing for Our Souls to You is: 1. Crawl, 2. Corporate Evasion, 3. Falter, 4. Dredge, 5. Eau Du War, 6. Our Souls to You (Part I), 7. A Public Display of Anger, 8. Isolation, 9. September, 10. Love is (A Warm AK47), 11. Our Souls to You (Part II).

Promise And Terror finds the return of BLAZE BAYLEY, the cherished former vocalist for Iron Maiden (replacing Bruce Dickinson in the late 90’s). It is a dark and emotional album that has already found much acclaim via its recent European release. For American fans this is the first album featuring a renewed, international line up and contains eleven new songs, several with heart-felt lyrics dedicated to the unfortunate loss of the singer’s wife in 2008. Metal Hammer says, “Blaze is on fire again,” while popular metal review site calls, “Blaze Bayley is one of the most dedicated, war-torn heavy metal warriors roaming the planet.” The band is currently amidst European tour dates and are looking to visit the US late summer. Confirmed track listing for Promise And Terror is: 1. Watching the Night, 2. Madness And Sorrow, 3. 1633, 4. God of Speed, 5. City of Bones, 6. Faceless, 7. Time to Dare, 8. Surrounded By Sadness, 9. The Trace of Things That Have No Words, 10. Letting Go of the World, 11. Comfortable in Darkness.

Touring will be intense for the label this spring with FEAR FACTORY kicking off American dates today. The shows, in support of their latest album Mechanize, run through April 11 and includes the band’s anticipated performance at Revolver Magazine’s Golden Gods Awards in Los Angeles on April 8. The band will be announcing more American and Canadian dates; additional details to follow. Colorado-based thrashers HAVOK align with Hammerfall and Echoes of Eternity for a run of dates beginning March 28 in San Diego. The band will then join Primal Fear for dates in May. The performances continue to support the band’s 2009 debut, Burn Los Angeles metal magazine Keeper says, “Havok really grabs the intensity, power and in-your-face attitude that only a rare few have. Burn is a true must have for any fan of great thrash metal.” Candlelight has several 3-cd sets and special reissue titles available from the legendary band. THE BREATHING PROCESS and THE ATLAS MOTH, recently completing a run of dates including several at the South-By-Southwest Music Conference, are expected to announce dates shortly.

Swedish black/death metal heroes NECROPHOBIC have sent this band update. FROM NECROPHOBIC:
New NECROPHOBIC Video Unleashed; Band To Play Maryland Deathfest 2010
Stockholm's blackened death metal warriors NECROPHOBIC have just launched a brand new video for the song “Revelation 666”, taken from their latest masterpiece Death To All!

NECROPHOBIC are one of very few bands left from the early Swedish black/death metal underground scene that is still going strong. Sharing members of Nifelheim, Trident and more the band are considered a cult act from the old days, yet also remain a potent source for inspiration for today's scene. "Revelation 666" - the track this brutal new video accompanies - was described by Outburn Magazine as " awesome flurry of charred, angel stabbing thrash/death with a manic chorus and an epic outro".

The NECROPHOBIC crew will also be storming American shores this May as part of the almighty Maryland Deathfest, appearing alongside Watain, Possessed, Autopsy, Sodom, Obituary, Entombed and countless other top legendary and contemporary metal acts. Check the full lineup at:

After nearly 20 years of existence and five very successful full-length albums NECROPHOBIC raises the flag of hate once again. It's time to show the world their brand new album Death To All! It's not just a title, it's a statement!

"...this one is a blast to endure and best played at maximum volume for the ultimate near-death experience. Thrash-influenced Swedish guitar riffs fill this disc to overflowing..." - SOD Magazine

"Death to All follows in the hoofprints of 2006’s Hrimthursum, hitching a bulletproof blackthrash rhythm section to Dissection’s obsidian guitar tonalities. Necrophobic’s attack has gotten sharper with age, their songs ever stronger." - Decibel Magazine

"...the band's undiminished passion for their demonic art bursts forth like that of most satanic metal whippersnappers half their age, which should guarantee Necrophobic's ability to keep bringing Death to All ages of extreme metal fans for many years to come." - All Music Guide

OK, I admit, this movie has NOTHING to do with metal, but I wouldn't mind seeing CLASH OF THE TITANS.In Greek Mythology, there are multiple Gods and Goddesses, also noted in Norse and Native American mythology. Monotheism is only a Christian and Catholic myth. There was a movie called CLASH OF THE TITANS in the 80's, not bad. As the Greek Gods have spoken, and btw, WTF is that scawee monster, a scorpion, jumbo crab, wtf?
Worthington says that when he and his co-star Ralph Fiennes walked up to the set and saw each other in dresses they had a laugh, and continued to laugh a lot during the shooting. That’s why he thinks it should be fun for the audience as well. “It’s about a bunch of guys in skirts who grab a sword and fight monsters, so you kinda know what world you’re getting into. It’s not a history lesson.”

When he was asked about the original ‘Clash,’ Worthington said that they avoided major story changes from the 1981 classic. “I saw the original movie because I was curious to know if it was worth remaking,” he says. “People who remember the original from their childhood- it will probably bring their childhood back to them. We added some winks to it, but if you do too many of them it can be a bit cheesy.”

Bakersfield, California NU METAL legends KORN have signed to ROADRUNNER RECORDS.
KORN guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer reportedly revealed in an online chat that the band has inked a new deal with Roadrunner Records. The group's ninth studio album, tentatively titled "Korn III - Remember Who You Are", is due this summer. The CD marks the return of producer Ross Robinson, who worked with KORN on the band's first two releases, "Korn" and "Life is Peachy". Lead vocalist Jonathan Davis has said that the new material matches the pure raw emotion of KORN's early releases while the current touring band has never been tighter.

"We experimented with a lot of cool stuff on our last two records [2005's 'See You On The Other Side' and 2007's untitled effort], but we didn't want to do another record like that," Davis explained to Revolver magazine. "So we said, 'Let's strip it back again. Let's do this as a four-piece and make it real raw like the old stuff."

KORN's forthcoming effort was tracked last October at the band's studio. "We recorded everything on tape, just like we did in the old days," said Davis. "And we didn't stack four or five vocal parts like I usually do. I'm singing one part for every song, which was scary. It's just me and the microphone, and you can really hear the emotion."

KORN will top the bill on this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival tour, which is scheduled to kick off on July 10 in San Bernardino, California.

Former GUNS AND ROSES guitarist SLASH has announced his support of gay marriage.

On the laws on homosexual marriage in California:

"The thing was that they wanted to pass a law so that one way or the other it was either going to be legal to have gay marriage in California, or illegal. You had to vote on it, and that was Proposition 8 — if you voted for it, it meant that it would become illegal, and if you voted against it meant that gays could get married. Now, I've been in Los Angeles for a lot of years and with West Hollywood being very close — and having lived in West Hollywood — I have a lot of gay friends; my wife especially has a lot of gay friends and when that was all going on we just felt that we should be supportive. At this point it's ridiculous that two people, regardless of their sex, can't get married. It just seems stupid.

"You won't find me at the front of a parade rally, y'know, but there've been things that I've felt strongly about. I remember back in the day when the whole Iraq war was started, I was definitely against that and was part of a political rally against it. I'm not a politician though, and I don't like to go out in a limb and become a ‘big advocate' kind of a guy, it's just not really my style.

On the YouTube video (see below) he made against Proposition 8:

"A friend of ours actually taped that, and in fact it was his idea too! I think at the time my wife was like, 'Do you want to do this?' I said yeah, so we just did it then and there in the rehearsal studio. It's so funny how things can be taken too seriously, especially nowadays; you put stuff out on video and it's there forever and people take them so seriously."

GRINDHOUSE RELEASING have announced the HUDSON HORROR FILM FEST 5/22/2010 at SILVER CINEMAS SOUTH HILLS 8 in Poughkeepsie, NY. Also, there will be a TATTOO MUSIC/METAL EXPO coming up in JULY at the CHANCE THEATER as ITP will announce that later. FROM BLABBERMOUTH.NET: Legendary cult metal thrashers TOXIK return and are on the big screen, for one night only!

Hudson Horror Show Inc., in association with Grindhouse Releasing, proudly presents a one-night-only horror film festival on May 22, 2010 at the Silver Cinemas South Hills 8 in Poughkeepsie, New York. The Hudson Horror Show festival will be highlighted by an appearance of one metal's most revered cult metal acts, TOXIK.

Hailing from New York's Hudson Valley area, TOXIK released a pair of classic thinking-man's thrash metal albums in the late '80s. An upstart record label named Roadrunner Records (later home to SLIPKNOT and NICKELBACK) released the band's two astounding masterworks, 1988's "World Circus" and 1989's "Think This". Both releases saw TOXIK take the aggression and brutality of speed metal and mix it with the technicality and proficiency of progressive hard rock.

TOXIK left the Hudson Valley region and toured the United States and the world, playing shows with the likes of PANTERA, SEPULTURA, EXODUS, KING DIAMOND and others in their quest for metal ascendancy before their premature implosion in 1992.

After decades apart, TOXIK has assembled rare video footage of those classic years for its first-ever officially released DVD, "Toxik - Think Again", which will have an exclusive extended preview at Hudson Horror Show. TOXIK members Josh Christian (guitar), Tad Leger (drums) and Mike Sanders (vocals) are all tentatively scheduled to appear at the event.

The festival kicks off at approximately 12 p.m. and runs until 11 p.m. on May 22, 2010.

The screening will be held at Silver Cinemas South Hills 8, located at 1895 South Rd, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

Advance tickets are on sale now and are $26.00. There are only 150 tickets available, so it is recommended that you buy your tickets in advance. If tickets remain, they will be available at the show for $30.00 each. Pay one price and come and go during the show as much as you want.

Finnish death metal band SURVIVORS ZERO have sent this update on tour cancellation.
Finnish death metal combo SURVIVORS ZERO has issued the following update:

"We really hate to break these news to you guys… but the U.S. officials at Homeland Security thought that this was not our time to tour the States. No working visa. No tour. Tough fucking shit.

"Every other band on the 'Finnish Metal' tour (FINNTROLL, SWALLOW THE SUN and MOONSORROW) will go and perform but not us. This sucks in a way that you guys can't even imagine.

"Loads of hard work went into getting this thing going in the first place. And all went well to the point when we should have gotten just a approval stamp on the papers.

"So… There's no time to apply for another working visas and we have to cancel the whole fucking tour. Sorry to disappoint you guys.

"Hope this thing works out next time and see you then!"

The "Finnish Metal" tour, featuring FINNTROLL, MOONSORROW and SWALLOW THE SUN, will kick off on April 6 at Jaxx in Springfield, Virginia.

"It's been almost a year since I wrote the last update for the upcoming GORGUTS record.

"First, I want to thank everyone that took the time to write us after I posted the rehearsal video with John [Longstreth, drums; DIM MAK, ORIGIN, THE RED CHORD, SKINLESS, POSSESSION, ANGELCORPSE] and I… I can't thank you enough for all the support and enthusiasm towards the band.

"Since then we've been very busy and productive working on the new record!! We got two-thirds of the music written and recorded into two pre-productions.

THE ARCTOPUS, BYLA, KRALLICE, INDRICOTHERE] and Kevin [Hufnagel, guitar; DYSRHYTHMIA, WHILE HEAVEN WEPT, BYLA, EUCLID STREET, THE FIFTH SEASON, GREY DIVISION BLUE] have been fantastic and amazingly creative with their instruments for the new compositions.

"Don't expect this record to sound like a previous GORGUTS album.

Florida death metal legends MORBID ANGEL has sent this update:

"World Management and MORBID ANGEL would like to let the fans know that rumors about Pedro 'Pete' Sandoval's [drums] back surgery are, in fact, true. Pete has suffered for a long time with a deteriorating disc problem. He was in daily pain and needed to have this done. He has recently been treated by a laser back surgery specialist in Tampa, Florida. He is currently in rehabilitation and doing well.

"Pete is part of our family and the band's history and we all wish him well and a full recovery. Unfortunately, this type of injury, subsequent surgery and rehab cannot be rushed and it will take ample time for him to hopefully be back behind his drums again and out on tour with MORBID ANGEL.

"The band is moving forward on their next recording with Tim Yeung (DIVINE HERESY, ALL THAT REMAINS, NILE, HATE ETERNAL, VITAL REMAINS).

"Currently the guys are in rehearsals in Tampa putting their finishing touches on the songs for the new album, which is slated for [release via Season Of Mist] later this year, with subsequent touring worldwide."

Professionally filmed video footage of MORBID ANGEL's entire June 27, 2009 performance at the Rock al Parque festival at Parque Simon Bolivar in Bogota, Colombia can be viewed at this location. A clip of the new song "Nevermore" is available below. (Note: The footage originally aired on Colombia's Canal Capital.)

MORBID ANGEL guitarist Trey Azagthoth last year spoke to Revolver magazine about the band's upcoming album, which will mark the Florida-based group's first release to feature bassist/vocalist David Vincent since 1995's "Domination".

"We played the new song 'Nevemore' on the last tour and that kind of shows where our heads are at," he said. "I'd say it's like an assemblage of all sorts of stuff from the catalog and some new influences. I listen to a lot of hardcore [techno] music now — the fuckin' serious, artistic stuff, not that crap you hear at the clubs. That stuff has impact and it's really extreme. Even if there's no guitar in it or no real drums, the energy coming out of the speakers is amazing."

When asked who's going to be producing the album, Azagthoth replied, "All I can say is, when it's ready, it's going to be extreme and outside the box. And, hopefully, the songs will inspire people to look deeper inside themselves for 'the stuff' and to tap that potential that we as human beings have."

Although MORBID ANGEL's upcoming album does not currently have a name, its title will likely begin with the letter "I", in keeping with the band's tradition of titling their albums in alphabetical order beginning with 1989's "Altars of Madness", and continuing through "Heretic".

"A lot of people around the world have come up with titles that they thought it would be," David Vincent told Norway's "Tinitus" radio show in an interview that aired in June 2008. "There is no title yet — we've not decided on it. We've not decided whether it's going to continue following the alphabet or not. So anything that you hear or read on the Internet is totally speculation by anyone."

MORBID ANGEL played its first show with new touring guitarist, ZYKLON's longtime axemeister Destructhor (a.k.a. Thor Anders Myhren), on June 22, 2008 at the Hellfest in Clisson, France.

Regarding Destructhor's addition to the band's touring lineup, Vincent said, "We had a fairly long audition process. We looked long and hard at this. We decided when we began this process that it was gonna be a unanimous decision. We had several people [apply for the job] — very good players from, really, all over the world — and we got a video from Thor — the same video that we asked from all the different players; the same two songs — and some people didn't get past the initial discussion stage, and then some people went on to the next stage and it ended up that the band unanimously felt that Thor would be the best guitarist for the band."

EDITORS NOTE: Hopefully it's not to late for those whom were at MEGADETH's ill fated show last night to attend a free "make up" show as the PA did not work at Baltimore's, RAMS HEAD LIVE at last nights gig. MEGA DAVE was not happy about the shitty PA, and cried a river, cutting MEGADETH's set short after only three songs.
is going to play a free show tonight (Wednesday, March 17) for last night's ticketbuyers. Doors will be at 7 P.M., the show will be at 8 P.M. Ticketholders from last night's show can pick up tickets for tonight at Will Call by presenting valid ID. Check the Rams Head Live! website for details.

Dave Mustaine has issued the following update:

Last night was a difficult night for me, Megs, and for our sold-out audience of Megadeth fans in the great city of Baltimore.

You see, we were plagued with equipment failures, the ensuing delays getting on-stage (Axl Rose, I am NOT), and the lack of intelligence of the fan who was convinced that throwing his beverage on the console, thus ending our second attempt at taking the stage last night, was an intelligent thing to do.

In other words, it was the end of the evening for me and for Baltimore.

Alas, Megaman to the rescue!

Late last night I was informed of the availability of the venue the following evening, meaning tonight, and I agreed to stay another night here in Baltimore and to try to play this venue one more time.

If you have a ticket from last night, please check here to see how to proceed tonight.

Thank you for your understanding, and I want to also thank the building, its staff, the security, the promoter and his staff, and most importantly . . . YOU. I will see you tonight!

Love and bruises,

ICELANDIC ANTI CHRISTIAN FESTIVAL APRIL 9th and 10th, 2010-@ Sódóma Reykjavík

Promoters have announced the ICELANDIC ANTI CHRISTIAN FESTIVAL set to take place April 9th and 10th, 2010 @ Sódóma Reykjavík, Iceland. FROM ICELANDIC ANTI CHRISTIAN FESTIVAL PROMOTERS. The Icelandic Antichristian Festival is an annual metalfestival which has been held in Reykjavík since the year 2000. The founders of the festival are Aðalbjörn Tryggvason and Guðmundur Óli Pálmason from Sólstafir and Sigurður Harðarson from Forgarður Helvítis and the reason for it's conception was to oppose the 2000 Icelandic Christian Festival that cost the Icelandic Taxpayers several hundred million krona. That festival was heavily criticized so the founders thought it was fitting to arrange a music event under the name Antichristian Festival to oppose it.

The first festival was held at Gaukur Á Stöng in Reykjavík in December 2000 and the event has always been held around the winter solstice. Therefore, in the years 2001 and 2006 the festival went by the name The Icelandic Solstice Festival. Although bands from many different genres have performed at the festival, it's main body of bands through the years are in the extreme metal vein.

Andkristnihátíð X will be held 9th-10th of April, 2010 at Sódóma Reykjavík
Rotting Christ (Gre), Sororicide (Ice),Hate (Pol), Sólstafir (Ice) with support.

FROM BLABBERMOUTH.NET; Filmmaker David Hall and the reformed BRUTAL TRUTH have joined forces as Hall's production company, Handshake Inc., heads to Winnipeg to document the band's performance at the 2010 Manitoba Metal Fest.

Hall explains that his intent is "to provide fans and film lovers a glimpse behind the curtain of one of underground music's most relevant and enigmatic bands." The documentary will trace how fans respond to and value the music of BRUTAL TRUTH but also explore the persona of BRUTAL TRUTH in an honest manner; applying the tenants of the underground to all aspects of the filmmaking.

The notoriously private BRUTAL TRUTH will be quietly filmed as Handshake Inc.'s small crew expand upon the aesthetics of Hall's newly coined term, "grind verite" — a DIY, gonzo-esque approach to filming and creating art that embraces all the technical merits of professional filmmaking, yet eschews the attitudes and common practices of typical Hollywood and budget-driven films.

The very much grassroots Manitoba Metal Fest is Winnipeg's annual gathering that showcases the best in Canadian metal — originated as a chance for some of Manitoba's metal bands to play for a larger audience and receive more exposure. Eight years later the fest has gained a reputation in Western Canada along with an increase in both the size of the audience and calibre of bands, with grind pioneers BRUTAL TRUTH playing on Canadian soil at this year's fest.

Hall's BRUTAL TRUTH documentary will follow that of "Maryland Deathfest: The Movie", along with feature films "Axis of Eden: The Movie", a film based on TODAY IS THE DAY's "Axis of Eden" album; and "Disgorge, Mexico: The Movie", a feature both written and directed by Hall that was inspired by FUCK THE FACTS' latest album, "Disgorge Mexico".

Hall is currently in pre-production for a follow-up documentary entitled "Maryland Deathfest The Movie: The Sequel".

One more time for YOU TUBE vocal shredder "PINNER" whom is the vocalist for a band called DEFINED. PINNER kills every vocal cover he touches, and Howard Jones of KILLSWITCH ENGAGE is NOT an easy vocalist to cover. KILLSWITCH ENGAGE may have watered down the bands music from metal core breakdowns to clean vocals and nu metal (trading Jesse Leach for Howard Jones on vocals) . No hardcore barking, clean vocals and screams as PINNER does an excellent cover of KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's "The End Of Heartache". KSE should call up PINNER in Howard Jones absence.

Ok, ITP is back with our newest feature UNCOVERED, this time with Texas, USA thrashers PANTERA. PANTERA have to be one of the covered bands in metal, if you scan YOU TUBE, you'll find some brilliant covers of PANTERA tunes.
Here on ITP UNCOVERED we have three PANTERA covers. One from some awesome young teens from the Aaron O'Keefe MUSIC SCHOOL (OHIO) covering the tittle track of the PANTERA release "Cowboys From Hell', another from a vocal shredder Pinner420420 (YOU TUBE) singing PANTERA's "This Love". The third PANTERA cover is PROGRESSIVE STRING QUARTET covering PANTERA's "Cowboys from Hell".
It's always great and heartening when kids start playing music young, it's a great hobby, and these kids are shredding at the age of 12 and 13. BTW, the late DARRELL ABBOTT (DIMEBAG-PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN) started shredding at a very young age, winning guitar contests and winning so often over people twice his age, that he asked him not to compete anymore, and he judged the contests instead. Of course PANTERA were formed when the band were just teens.
I'm sure DIMEBAG DARRELL would be proud of these covers.

Several students from the Aaron O'Keefe music-instruction school in Ohio recorded a cover version of the PANTERA classic "Cowboys From Hell" on Saturday, February 20 at the Saint Claire Recording Company in Lexington, Kentucky. You can hear the track as well as watch the accompanying studio footage below.

Commented O'Keefe: "The students did 10 takes of the song in one hour; this is take number 5.

"In order to get multiple camera angles, I had the students record the song using a click track at 112 bpm. Not only did using the click track help create a better video, but many professional recordings are laid down to a click track. In using this technique to record, the students now realize what is expected from a professional musician in a studio.

"Many viewers might wonder why the students aren't jumping around and delivering a great visual performance as well. Playing along with the click track requires a great deal of concentration, so that wouldn't possible for many musicians, especially a bunch of kids.

"What we changed... Dimebag Darrell's solo in 'Cowboys From Hell' is incredible; however, Joe Hubbell has already played several PANTERA solos note for note and needed to move in a different direction. So he used some of Dimebag Darrell's solo and added some of his own ideas. We also left out the music from 3:16 until the end of 'Cowboys From Hell' and then created a free time ending section. The arrangement was shortened and simplified to make it easier for the students to memorize (since they rarely get to practice as a band) and to save time in the studio."

Recording lineup:

Tyler Rogers (age 12) - Drums
Blake Hillard (age 12) - Guitar
Peter Hoffman (age 13) - Vocals
Matt Lohmueller (age 13) - Guitar
Sam Parsons (age 16) - Bass
Joe Hubbell (age 16) - Guitar
Aaron O'Keefe music-instruction school in Ohio COVERING PANTERA's "COWBOYS FROM HELL":

Iraqi metal band (recent refugees living in New Jersey, USA) Acrassicauda were recently interviewed by NEWSWEEK on perceptions of musicians, America and the economic struggles of artists.

FROM NEWSWEEK: It's not every day that the NPR crowd falls for a heavy-metal band, but then Acrassicauda isn't your average group of headbangers. The foursome, whose name means "black scorpion" in Latin, played their first real show behind blast walls and barbed wire, had their rehearsal space destroyed by a missile, and received death threats from fundamentalists for playing "Western devil music"—all before ever stepping into a recording studio. You might say they picked a rough neighborhood for launching a music career. "The only other types of bands in Iraq are the kind who play weddings and circumcision parties," says Acrassicauda drummer Marwan Hussein, 25, "so we really stood out, and standing out in Iraq is not a good thing."

The band's struggles became the subject of the 2007 documentary Heavy Metal in Baghdad, produced by Spike Jonze and directed by Vice magazine's Suroosh Alvi. All of a sudden public-radio listeners, Toronto film-festival critics, and worldly YouTube users got hooked on the wartime story of the Baghdad rockers. High-school friends Faisal Talal Mustafa, Tony Yaqoo, Firas Abdul Razaq, and Hussein weathered the violence and anarchy by dreaming of the day they'd be free to grow their hair long and rock out loud—and it seemed half the world was rooting for them.

Coverage of the documentary by the BBC, Al-Jazeera, and CNN International made Acrassicauda a high-profile rock band in the Arab world—and a formidable target. So they sold their equipment and fled the country in late 2006, joining millions of other Iraqis who today make up one of the world's largest refugee populations. Sleeping six to a room and moving every few months, Acrassicauda spent more than two years scraping by in the refugee enclaves of Syria and Turkey. Finally, thanks to the work of the International Rescue Committee and a reported $40,000 in donations raised by Vice through PayPal, the broke and exhausted band made it to the United States just over a year ago. Their first week here, they were invited backstage at Newark's Prudential Center by Metallica, where singer James Hetfield handed a speechless Yaqoo his double-necked guitar, signed it, and proclaimed, "Welcome to America." Next stop, rock stardom.

Or maybe not. Though their first-ever recording, the EP Only the Dead See the End of the War, was released last week, most of the band's members are working two or three service jobs each and living in cramped apartments. They barely have enough time between shifts to practice, let alone put on a show. "We are kings without a throne," jokes bassist Razaq, 28, who left the computer store he owned in Baghdad when he fled with his wife. "We're famous, everyone knows us, but we're still struggling. At some points, to be honest, I've thought, what have I done? The only thing to push me forward is when I look back." Hussein, who was an English and arts teacher in Iraq but now works as a waiter, says looking into the future can be more daunting than grappling with their turbulent past. "We've been here over a year now," he says. "I sometimes wonder, will we make it in America or just be some guys doing whatever refugee jobs we can to survive?"

Roughly 30,000 Iraqis have come to the United States as refugees since 2003. Many of those who've resettled here are from Baghdad's middle class; their standard of living back home was in fact higher than that of some middle-class Americans. They worked white-collar jobs and parked their new cars in the driveways of paid-off homes. They arrived here thinking they would maintain the same lifestyle, but instead many were resettled into poverty. "Iraqi refugees generally have more professional career experience than other refugee arrivals, and most expected they'd be able to restart their careers here in a relatively short period," says IRC spokesperson Melissa Winkler. "That hasn't happened, in part due to the economic crisis. They also never imagined that they would be given so little startup assistance from the country that had a very direct role in their upheaval. It's an incredibly rude awakening."

Here's an ironic joke. What do pagan black metal bands and fascists really have in common: A receding economy. So an unnamed source passed along this message (ON MYSPACE) grumbling about the PC police and liberal fascism. Funny, but not really funny until you see this video of a hate crime on video of two men killed and one be headed by nazis. I'm warning readers now that to view this video (link below) one should be 18 and up and have an iron stomach as this video of a hate crime in (RUSSIA?) provoked by savage nazi's is enough to support ANTIFA on a certain level. ITP by the way, covers metal bands of all genres, regardless of race, color, gender, sexual orientation or political lean, and separating the art, and ITP's writer from the artist, we do not support fascism or national socialist ideology in any way, as ITP author is not white.
I hope that ANTIFA does not become as hypocritical or corrupt as FSU in the USA (FRIENDS STAND UNITED).

FROM ROBERT LINDSAY BLOGSPOT (ROBERT LINDSAY is a left leaning independent journalist whom also viewed this anonymous hate crime video committed in Russia? FROM ROBERT LINDSAY BLOGSPOT:
This is the Russian neo-Nazi decapitation execution video that took the Russian Internet by storm in early August 2007 (the video topped search engine and blog hits for Russian sites). The video is titled The Execution of a Tajik and a Dagestani. It's a video of Russian neo-Nazis executing two "Blacks" - that is, two White men - one from Dagestan and one from Tajikistan.

For an inquiry into whether or not reasonable people would consider Dagestanis and Tajiks to be White, see my meditation on the subject here.

This video aroused tremendous controversy on the Net for a short while after it appeared. A group called either National Socialism/White Power or National Socialists of Rus claimed responsibility for the video, but authorities said they had never heard of either group.
)Many have asked the name of the song in the video. The song is "Rus" by the Russian folk-pagan metal band Arkona. You can watch a video of the band playing the song on this blog here.

FROM Nex Cultus Photography:

"If you or your band is involved with Antifa, I will NOT photograph you. I strongly urge everyone to take a closer look at this hypocritical group and the destructive role they have played in the metal and folk communities.

They claim to be "..anti-fascist," yet their reactions to all opposed to them are extremely intolerant and often violently adverse. They have attacked many individuals based on ill-founded assumptions. In their eyes, ANYONE and EVERYONE who is proud of their Northern European ancestry is automatically a Neo-Nazi, a National Socialist or at the very least a racist. If you are Ásatrú or Irminen (ancient Norse and Germanic pagan religions which are slowly being revived after nearly being annihilated by the Christians), you will be targeted. They do not care if you have zero NS political leanings. They have injured people to the point of hospitalization .., destroyed band gear, wreaked havoc on festivals/..venues/..bars/..clubs/..restaurant gatherings, et cetera, et cetera.

As of late, Satanic black metal bands are also being targeted - bands who take no political stance and have no NS lyrics or imagery. Gigs are being canceled at an alarming rate - gigs that many of these bands place their livelihoods on. The owners of these venues are not canceling these shows because they agree with the Antifa, but because they fear the destruction of the venue itself. The Antifa have NO right to police music.

I am sure that for merely stating my opinion, I will now be targeted and will receive angry, uneducated letters of disapproval. This profile has a good chance of being deleted, and to be honest, I really couldn’t give a damn. As long as people will question and think for themselves and discuss this hypocrisy (and maybe even re-post), the aim of this blog will be achieved.

The Antifa are nothing more than a pseudo-liberal regime. They are fascists wearing masks of ignorance and prejudice. Their radical intolerance, censorship and idiotic actions have given them far less dignity and grace than their so-called enemies. As Winston Churchill said, 'The fascists of the future will be called anti-..fascists.'

ITP EDITORS NOTE: I'm against censorship of any kind, I believe in the right to artistic expression. I also believe strongly in the right to cultural expression and cultural pride without of course the prejudice that sometimes comes with it. I don't believe, in the name of freedom speech that metal HAS to be politically correct nor does art need a "PC POLICE".
However... I do believe in human rights.. I think it's awfully naive of the pagan, folk and black metal scene to set foot in some Eastern European countries without knowing what's going on. With receding economies in places like Russia comes the oh so popular "kill an immigrant or foreign exchange students" agenda of a minority of those countries citizens. For some of those citizens, Pagan metal is a soundtrack to their angst. While I am very much against "the blame metal for societies problems" rant, I did see a video on YOU TUBE of darker colored men being beheaded by nazi's with a Pagan band as it's soundtrack.Musicians really have no control over who does what after listening to their music, and how they interpret it, as the Russian Pagan/folk metal band ARKONA was mentioned as the soundtrack to that beheading video. Keep in mind that there was another Russian band (ARKONA-NS-POLAND) with the same name. I'm against liberal fascists too, but many of these attacks via nazi's are videotaped and put on the net. If you saw that video maybe it would motivate one to be more active against such nazi's. It's a shame that ANTIFA NEEDS to exist, fighting fire with fire, but I've seen a few documentaries (From Russia with HATE) and it doesn't look good, I just hope those whom are innocent never get falsely accused as many innocent people have been killed by nazi's. If black metal gets a bad name via nazi stereotypes maybe it WILL force one to declare an anti national socialist stance, and it sounds silly for bands whom are just anti christian (Anti Christianity may be considered "political" for some), and serve no political leaning, but it certain areas of Europe, it's a must. I'm against attacking someone because of beliefs, on either side of the fence, but it's awfully naive for the Pagan metal scene to NOT realize what's really going on in certain countries. We all see music as just entertainment and I'm sure many bands don't want to be dragged into taking sides, just because one or two of their fans interpret their music politically when it's not in the least bit meant to be political, it's a shame really.

I don't judge a band MUSICALLY via politics. A left leaning metal band could suck while a right wing band could own, or vice versa.
Also, regardless of "politics" or ANTIFA, the lowest common denominator regarding promoters is..MONEY..
$ in the form of ticket, alcohol and merch sales. These bands are not drawing and they whine about ANTIFA? Tough times in a receding worldwide economy, the bottom line in music, and even fascists (whom don't even realize this) is THE ECONOMY. I suppose, promoters would book National Socialist bands if they drew, regardless of politics and principle. I guess DIMMU BORGIR and CRADLE OF FILTH draw more, although I don't consider those bands black metal.
Yes, metal bands have shows canceled for some silly reasons, but remember, when you play in someones elses club or venue, it is NOT YOUR club or venue, and if you're band is banned for being nazi's, I have no sympathy and the truly objective fans will wonder why politics get in the way of often good music. I can understand the anguish of touring bands whom are NOT nazi's and get falsely accused because of anti christian lyrical themes, stating how Christianity destroyed their indigenous cultures. My sentiments, I'm a quarter Cherokee Indian, and I'm an agnostic.
I'm sure that the victims of that hate crime in the video that's been floating around the net didn't want "their pictures taken" either.
I hate National Socialists, but NO ONE should be attacked for what they believe in, national origin, or race either. I think ROBERT LINDSAY's perception of metal is from an outsiders point of view, because I don't see any nazi salute at least as Lindsay claims, or "skinheads" just fans showing the metal horns in ARKONA's (live performance) video as fans do on demand. However, I'm not naive to that fact that some national socialists exist in the metal scene.
We have the same problem with some of the most corrupt liberals locally where I live, within their liberal fascism, drug and alcohol abuse. Of course, they WILL NEVER get my vote.
I'll pass on on getting my pic taken too, you don't want to see the look on my face. I hope that ANTIFA are not canceling black metal bands, or extreme metal/pagan bands at random (what was up with those stupid rumors in 2008, of NEGURA BUNGET being, nazi's that is NOT true). Instead, I hope ANTIFA finds the persons guilty of that hate crime/beheading video and kicks their ass.
Lastly, musicians have less control over how their music is used, in the case of ARKONA, if they haven't already, they SHOULD make a statement against their music being used in a hate crime and take action. Any body can make a video of their fave band and post it on YOU TUBE. However, if it was my bands music, I wouldn't want someone promoting our music for the purpose of a hate crime, even if this isn't an issue of money, it's principle.

2.2 The audience
Last year the thing that probably disturbed me the most about this festival was the crowd. Last year's focus on "tr00" black metal had attracted not only a lot of elitists, but also a fair number of open nationalists. So how would it be in 2008? Would Ragnarök walk down the path the media have seen it walk along already and become established as meeting point for Nazis? Or was I going to be right with my speculations that the diversity of the lineup would hold off the rotten more-than-just-misanthropic core of the black metal scene and rather attract people with all kinds of backgrounds? Well, I've got to admit that I was quite pleasantly surprised by this year's crowd. In fact I've seen more Asians than Nazis! I guess that does say quite a lot. So whereas I've sensed xenophobia lingering in the air throughout last year's festival, I didn't notice any of that this time around. There still were some apparent Nazis running around, but those were definitely the minority. There is also to be added that visitors were urged to report merch stands selling NSBM and that the organizer himself had kicked out a vendor from the festival for selling such stuff.
