ICELANDIC ANTI CHRISTIAN FESTIVAL APRIL 9th and 10th, 2010-@ Sódóma Reykjavík

Promoters have announced the ICELANDIC ANTI CHRISTIAN FESTIVAL set to take place April 9th and 10th, 2010 @ Sódóma Reykjavík, Iceland. FROM ICELANDIC ANTI CHRISTIAN FESTIVAL PROMOTERS. The Icelandic Antichristian Festival is an annual metalfestival which has been held in Reykjavík since the year 2000. The founders of the festival are Aðalbjörn Tryggvason and Guðmundur Óli Pálmason from Sólstafir and Sigurður Harðarson from Forgarður Helvítis and the reason for it's conception was to oppose the 2000 Icelandic Christian Festival that cost the Icelandic Taxpayers several hundred million krona. That festival was heavily criticized so the founders thought it was fitting to arrange a music event under the name Antichristian Festival to oppose it.

The first festival was held at Gaukur Á Stöng in Reykjavík in December 2000 and the event has always been held around the winter solstice. Therefore, in the years 2001 and 2006 the festival went by the name The Icelandic Solstice Festival. Although bands from many different genres have performed at the festival, it's main body of bands through the years are in the extreme metal vein.
