FROM NAXEN:

NAXEN is not a political band and we do not wield political statements in our lyrics, music and artworks. We are a black metal band. We have never deviated from that nor ever sold anything different.
We stem from the DIY ethics of the black metal underground and we consist of individuals with a strong left-alternative mindset and awareness.
We’ve been facing expectations of how a black metal band with our background should behave and what it should stand for.
We believe that music and art exist without boundaries of the world and manmade conceptions. By agreeing to certain shows and festivals, we don‘t see our background compromised, our approach to art and our ethos in danger to ever be shifted or arbitrated.
We‘d rather take up the space in the black metal scene, so others with questionable or right-winged, fascist (or similar) background can‘t take it, then to give it up.
We won‘t accept that others will control the narrative of how this band should operate and what we stand for, nor will we be the pressured into taking a political stance. We also don‘t accept that actions, beliefs, political motivations and statements of others represent, connect or associate us in any way.
We examine every offer on a case-to-case basis. In case of the show on the 08.02.2025 with Nargaroth, we looked at all the other bands, the organizers/promoters and the background. We don‘t see any clear signs of fascist & political (or similar) motivations. In any other case we wouldn‘t have agreed to play. We don‘t agree nor sympathize in any way with the beliefs and actions of the individual behind Nargaroth.
We know and have experienced that not everybody will agree with this and some will take offense.
We won‘t engage in public conversations or react in the comment section. If you‘re really interested in what we have to say, please contact us directly, the answer we will be giving might be challenging for you to hear. By doing so in return we ask of you the courtesy and decency to keep conversations private. This also means to not leak (this means without our consent) or publish our answer in whole or partially to take it out of context.
Thank you for your support!
