ITP: THE ART OF DANCE: V.010 PART 1: HEADWALKING

HEADWALKING FROM THE URBAN DICTIONARY: A different version of the stage dive that involves a kid walking off of the stage onto the crowd and diving into a group of kids that aren't near the stage. Done mostly at hardcore shows by skinny kids that like to stage dive alot.
Soo, we're back with ITP: THE ART OF DANCE, a spur of the moment feature founded in 2009 about both traditional and nontraditional styles of dance in music and metal. Turns out, the ITP feature THE ART OF DANCE was one of the journals most popular features last year. As we continue this feature, ITP THE ART OF DANCE V.010 PART 1 features "Headwalking". Headwalking is consolidated in the context of a stage dive to a walking crowd surf and featured at hardcore shows and consequently banned by music venues because of the perceived danger..Headwalking is not a botched stage dive, or freaked stage diver, but the challenge of staying on your feet, while in motion using the pit as your balance and leverage. The ideal of headwalking is to stage dive in the motion of walking, right on the pit punters head, while moving your feet while stage diving, finding anything and any one to step on.. Headwalking is absolutely annoying to the spectators as on occasion a vocalist will walk on the outstretched hands on pit punters. However, if you're in the pit, and are not looking out for stage divers, consider your self "mush head". HEADWALKING looks amazing and gives the visual illusion of one walking on air if a show featuring headwalkers is filmed. Do NOT pull the feet of headwalkers..Kerspalt.
HEADWALKING is performed best in the context of a stagedive/crowd surf in a very packed pit, only when the pit is PACKED, when there ISN'T a HOLE in the pit, and the crowd is barely moshing.

MORE FROM camionnoir.com.:
Nico C has been featured on numerous documentaries and in various magazines discussing his extensive knowledge of true crime and the occult.
A former inmate of Poissy State prison in France, where he was serving a 12 year sentence for murder,Nico is no stranger to the Black Metal community, having first come to the attention of the scene via an interview he gave to Norways legendary SLAYER MAGAZINE (The unknown interviewer being a key figure and himself incarcerated for murder at the time in Norway). While his years of incarceration may of limited his freedom it only strengthened his knowledge of all things dark and mysterious.Choosing to paint to channel his energy he became well known to underground true crime enthusiasts and collectors. His paintings having been comissioned by the likes of Jonathan Davis (Korn),Merle Allin,Killjoy(Necrophagia) and the late Gidget Gein (who penned the forword to Nico's book about notorious serial killer Richard Ramirez (The Son of The Devil) shortly before he took his own life.
Nico's fourth book "MAYHEM & BURZUM In Fire And Blood" is the first of its kind to tackle the complicated story of the black metal scene's two most infamous and influential bands. The well publicised LORDS OF CHAOS from 1997 which attempted to shed light on the story, distorted its perception with a string of half truths, lies and far right nonsense.Make no mistake about that.

In Fire And Blood has been well researched and pulls no punches. The forword is written by musician and occult author Micheal.W.Ford (Black Funeral).Although the first edition is in french language only,an english version is in the works right now.More details on that edition to follow.

AUGURY BASSIST DANIEL FOREST LAPOINTE LEAVES BAND

Montreal, Canada extreme metal band AUGURY have announced that DANIEL FOREST LAPOINTE has left the band, arguably one of if not the best bassists in extreme metal.
FROM AUGURY and BLABBERMOUTH.NET:: "After eight years of collaboration, we are sad to announce that we had to part ways with our bass player Dominic 'Forest' Lapointe. We keep in mind his outstanding musical input and volcanic stage presence, and thank him for helping to shape the sound of AUGURY. But the show must go on and we are actually starting The American Defloration tour with THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, OBSCURA and HATESPHERE, with a very special rhythm section featuring Quebec City jazz player Christian Pacaud (MAG project) on bass, and our longtime friend Tommy McKinnon (formerly of NEURAXIS) behind the drum kit. With such great personnel on board, we are eager to give American ears a good scrub once again!"

Drummer Antoine Baril announced his departure from AUGURY last November. He stated at the time, "Some personal and professional reasons made multiple touring impossible for me at the moment." He added, "I wish all the best for AUGURY because those wonderful guys are making incredibly good music. I will never forget those memorable shows and I would like to thank everyone for their support on the road everywhere we've been on tour."

ANGELA GOSSOW OF ARCH ENEMY SPEAKS OUT AGAINST SEXISM IN THE METAL MEDIA

ANGELA GOSSOW of ARCH ENEMY spoke to KNAC.COM about the progression of ARCH ENEMY, the music business and sexism in the metal media. FROM KNAC.COM: The last time you and I spoke was just after [guitarist] Christopher [Amott] had left the band and Fredrik [Åkesson, now in OPETH] came in as his replacement on guitar. Gus G. did the 2005 Ozzfest dates prior to that. Is Christopher fully committed to the band now?

Gossow: Absolutely. I think if anything they've actually gotten closer as a guitar team, Chris and Michael. He really complements Michael. It's always different when you have two brothers playing. They grew up with each other. The way they write, it fits perfectly. It was definitely different with Fredrik. Fredrik's a great guitar player. He just goes and learns a song, note by note, exactly how it should be. But it's a different chemistry in the band when you go onstage, when you have Chris back. It feels again the way it's supposed to feel. The funny thing is that Gus, obviously, was introduced to OZZY OSBOURNE at Ozzfest and now he's actually playing with OZZY OSBOURNE. All these good things came out of that whole thing. We toured with OPETH and Fredrik got to know the OPETH guys. Now he plays in OPETH. Chris had his time out, Fredrik Åkesson got his break, and Gus G. as well, really. It's amazing how fate works. I don't really believe in fate, but that's just almost too good to be coincidence.

KNAC.COM: A couple of years ago I was flipping through a metal magazine and there was a fold-out poster of you and Cristina [Scabbia] from LACUNA COIL representing their "Hottest Chicks in Metal" feature. To be considered as one of the hottest chicks in metal wasn't a career goal of yours, right?

Gossow: It's funny that you mentioned that because I just had a huge clash with the editor of Revolver. He's put me into the 2010 "Hottest Chicks in Metal" calendar [see below] with that picture in of 2004, so they keep kind of recycling that one. And, I've explained several times I don't want to be featured in that — in that corner. If they want a picture of the band and it's about the music, all cool. No problem. But if it's about me being a woman… I don't like the "Hottest Chicks in Metal" movement at all. I think it's very counterproductive and kind of retro, you know? Going back in time and he said, "Of course. If you don't want to be featured then I will make sure you won't be featured in any of the other publications we have." So I burned that bridge by saying, "I don't want to be part of it. I'm not cool with it. You should have asked me." So that's what I got for it, and I don't give a fuck. That's so bad, Revolver magazine. It's just all about highlighting the crap that's going on backstage, highlighting a pair of tits, and all the crazy stories on tour. And then you look for the actual bits on music and you can't even find them anymore. I don't even know what kind of music these bands are playing that they are featuring, because it doesn't come through in the articles, at all. We haven't even had a feature in this magazine for the last three years, so I can very well live without the whole… I hate the "Hottest Chicks in Metal!" It's an embarrassment for women, I think (laughs). It's an embarrassment for female musicians, who actually are musicians. I don't think we're ever going to be popping up in Revolver magazine again, after my little e-mail conversation with the editor. (laughs)

KNAC.COM: Going back to the "Anthems of Rebellion" period in 2003 on up to now, you guys have continuously been busy. It seems like you've never slowed down, despite the little change in personnel back when Christopher left.

Gossow: Yeah, it's been a crazy ride since then. When I joined ARCH ENEMY we didn't really know what was in for us and where it would go. We have evolved as a band. We've become very self-confident musicians in a scene full of victims. I think the music scene is terrible when it comes to how musicians are being treated. We've come out on top. We've done really well. We've released a bunch of really good records; we've done a bunch of very good tours. We fired our management in 2008 and now I do all that.

KNAC.COM: Really?

Gossow: Yeah, we're totally free. We own all our songs. No management in the back telling us what to do. Yeah, it's amazing. And the weird thing, since I took over management, is I'm not getting sick either anymore. I don't feel so victimized, like somebody else has decided that I got to make it through no matter what. When you're in charge of something, you really want to do it. You've got a different strength for it.

KNAC.COM: It's not like slavery.

Gossow: Exactly. The music business is setup to enslave the musician. The record sales are dying, so they're going to put a lot of pressure on a band to tour as much as they can. Sometimes I think some bands are touring to death. How much are you enjoying playing your 260 shows in a year? Whatever we do we do it very consciously. Yes, we want to go to the U.S. now, because we haven't been there for two years. We do a lot of touring, but we hop from continent to continent. There are a lot of different scenarios we experience, and that's how we keep it really interesting. We picked out the support bands. We're totally excited about the package. Yeah, I think we're in an excellent spot as a band, but it takes a lot of self-confidence and a lot of knowledge. If you want to run your own business, you better know your business. Not everybody can read a contract or really concentrate on it, or negotiate a deal, or a tour, or speak to promoters. You have to have a very equal relationship in the band to be able to be self-managed. Everybody's got to do some jobs. We're very lucky with ARCH ENEMY. Everybody's equal. It's a team.

EXAMINER.COM REVIEWS PRE RELEASE OF BURZUM's "BELUS"

Vancouver, Canada publication EXAMINER.COM. has reviewed a pre- release of BURZUM's
"Belus" due out 3/8/2010 on BYELOBOG PRODUCTIONS. EXAMINER.COM's review of BURZUM's "Belus" is published at this location:. http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-34016-Vancouver-Metal-Music-Examiner-Examiner~y2010m2d21-Burzum--Belus
FROM THE EXAMINER.COM REVIEW OF BURZUM's "BELUS":
"The music itself does not readily acknowledge the transformation of ideals, but it does not set out to do so, electing to remain firmly entrenched in traditional black metal. Belus aims to tell a story, and to put the final nail in the coffin of original black metal by effectively announcing the triumph of Summer and the birth of Apollonian beauty; and yet, this Burzum album is not Summer herself; it is the falling of rain and the melting of snow, the death of Winter."

ROB HALFORD SET TO APPEAR AT GLADD AWARDS

Legendary JUDAS PRIEST vocalist Rob Halford will be making a guest appearance and reppin' \m/ETAL at the 2010 GLADD AWARDS (GAY AND LESBIAN ALLIANCE AGAINST DEFAMATION).
FROM BLABBERMOUTH.NET: According to Glaad.org, JUDAS PRIEST frontman Rob Halford will make a "special appearance" at the Los Angeles presentation of the 21st annual Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Media Awards on April 17 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza.

The GLAAD Media Awards recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives.

Hosts for the Los Angeles GLAAD Media Awards (which will also take place in New York on March 13 and in San Francisco on June 5) are actress Candis Cayne and actor Wilson Cruz ("He's Just Not That Into You"), with Tom Ford and Benjamin Bratt among the other guests and presenters.

The list of 116 film, television and music nominees in 24 English-language categories and 36 Spanish-language nominees in eight categories can be viewed at glaad.org/mediaawards.

When asked in a December 2009 interview with the Dallas Voice if he has a particularly gay audience, Halford said, "I have my gay metalhead fans all over the world. Sometimes they are so obvious from stage but it's still a wonderful surprise."

Regarding how it has been since he came out more than 10 years ago, Halford said, "It gives me a lot of comfort and it was a weight off my shoulders. There is a lot of phobia in metal music, but me coming out chips away at that wall, bit by bit. It just crossed my mind that I had no negative feedback. Fans were cool, and that speaks volumes for the better world we're in. We have come forward by leaps and bounds."

LENG TCH'E SIGN WITH SEASON OF MIST

Belgium death grinders LENG TCH'E have inked a deal with SEASON OF MIST.
FROM SEASON OF MIST:
Season of Mist is proud to announce the fresh addition of Belgian grindcore act LENG TCH'E to the roster! The "razorgrind" band just finished recording their upcoming album at Parlour Studio in Kettering, UK with producer Russ Russell.

"We are very delighted and proud to be joining Season of Mist", bassist Nicolas comments. "Being added to the same roster as Morbid Angel, Dillinger Escape Plan, Mayhem, Cynic and other greats is a huge opportunity and extremely motivating and exciting.
"Leng Tch'e clearly needs a label with an open mind when it comes to extreme music, Season of Mist definitely meets this criterion. That's why we feel it's a compliment that Season of Mist owner Michael Berberian absolutely loved the new Leng Tch'e material. This, together with his modern and realistic vision on the music industry, made him the obvious choice to be working with.
"We can hardly wait to release our next full length album in this new relationship with Season of Mist, so you better get ready for the return of the Razorgrind!"

LENG TCH'E's yet-untitled fifth album will be released before the summer. The band recently stated: "This is by far the heaviest and most extreme record we've ever made, and if that wasn't enough, the legendary Mr Barney Greenway himself laid down some guest vocals on a little song called "Totalitarian". Brutal as feck, as they apparently say in the Midlands."

METAL AT THE MOVIES: V.010 PART 4: DEATH METAL ARE WE WATCHING YOU DIE

We're back with METAL AT THE MOVIES PART 4. Bill Zebub Productions has released a new DVD entitled DEATH METAL ARE WE WATCHING YOU DIE?
MORE FROM BLABBERMOUTH.NET: "Death Metal: Are We Watching You Die?", the latest DVD documentary from The Grimoire Of Exalted Deeds editor/film maker Bill Zebub, will be released on February 23 via Bill Zebub Productions.

This two-hour documentary presents its artists in as cordial a depiction as possible, allowing them to candidly talk about a variety of topics. There are no narrations; the tale is told by experts who don't need to have their views simplified or sensationalized.

In addition to legendary death metal bands like KRISIUN and CANNIBAL CORPSE, representatives from black metallers MARDUK, MAYHEM, and CRADLE OF FILTH, once considered part of the "enemy camp," talk about the divisions between the two genres in the past as well as the lowering of boundaries in the present. Also included are artists like Liv Kristine (LEAVES' EYES, ATROCITY, ex-THEATRE OF TRAGEDY), who revolutionized the beauty-and-the-beast contrast between operatic female vocals and guttural death metal vocals in a hybridized musical form that borrowed from many influences outside of death metal in the older incarnation of THEATRE OF TRAGEDY.

As with all Bill Zebub documentaries, "Death Metal: Are We Watching You Die?" depicts a personal side of the bands and will hopefully serve as a launchpad for curious viewers to seek out more information. Death metal fans are ACTIVE fans; that is what prevents the music from dying...

ITP UPDATE: ITP DOES NOT ENDORSE GBG

I found something in the search engines as a site linked to ITP V.010 entitled "GAY BE GONE". I can't figure what that site is about, and frankly, I can't figure their agenda, (is it gay friendly, homophobic?). However, in the vague parody of GBG's closet space for those insecure about their sexuality,
We at ITP are NOT endorsing GBG and their site. Fucking weird, sometimes ya get weird links to this journal via the search engines. Just based upon the sites title GAY BE GONE, I'm suspicious.
Maybe someday GBG and others will come out their closet.
ITP does not endorse homophobia, nor are we accusing GBG of such attitudes.
We at ITP are just not comfortable with the link to ITP (Gaahl journal entry) via GBG.

ITP UPDATE: TOXIC SITE IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD?

On a kind of humorous antidote, the entire neighborhood got a notice from the DEC about some "hazardous waste" and toxic site around the corner from where I live. The DEC are monitoring the groundwater around the corner from where I live as HRC (hydrogen releasing compounds) were injected into the groundwater to treat volatile organic compounds (VOCS) in groundwater ans soil. Location: around Stop and Shop to be correct. According to the DEC, "The site no longer poses a threat to the environment and public health as long as the VOC's associated present continue the downward trend to groundwater standards".
  1. "Mitigation measures were taken at New Paltz Plaza via the installation of nine sub slab depressurization (SSD) systems within the Shopping Center to address potential indoor air contamination of VOC's associated with soil vapor intrusion", quote straight from the DEC and the notice WE got. I'm not sure how to interpret this, or how it effects residents in the neighborhood, if at all, or the surrounding environment.
Also the DEC said, "Drinking contaminated groundwater is also not expected because the Shopping Center buildings and immediately adjacent properties are connected to the available public water supply".
The old Ames Plaza building was torn down in it's entirety asbestos and all, for a drama of a project to build stop and shop around the corner, as unions struck, Meadobrooks residents pathway was obstructed in and out the complex and I was injured tripping over a tree to get back home, and finally Stop and Shop was built and open for business in July of 2006.
My family suggested a water filter for drinking water, as it better to use that, as I'm chronically dehydrated as I drink fruit juice and some coffee, no alcohol.
In short, most people don't drink water straight from the ground, only animals as we have reservoirs to filter out our water supply. Of course that brings up the inside joke on the video featured in the "culture of sports" journal entry, the one on "New Yorkers". While the dude featured in the video (the new yorker is RIGHT, in a way, despite the ego) as I'm originally from Manhattan, NYC. New York City's water supply is good, and is treated with chlorine, although my family in New York City still use water filters. The irony of this is that MOST of New York City's water supply comes from the reservoirs in the Hudson Valley area. In contrast, the water here in the Hudson valley area, just 90 minutes up the New York state thruway is variable, depending on the town you live in. Stone Ridge, High Falls often have sulfer/hard water as I've had friends battle it out with landlords to filter out wells for years. In fact, in NYC, the primary, water supply, at least for Manhattan is the reservoir in Central Park. The irony of this, the vast of majority of NYC's water supply is supplied via the reservoirs in the Hudson Valley area as the Central Park reservoir is the minimal of NYC's water supply.
This issue is unrelated, but last year, New Paltz, NY's Mayor Terry Dungan froze the village of New Paltz's budget and sued the town of New Paltz (two separate municipalities) for over charging and double billing residents and property owners for water and blah, blah, blah.
Back in '99, I had a friend visit me from Georgia whom lived for years in Ulster County, as we went to some cool swimming holes in Ulster County. He pulled his vehicle over near the Roundout up in Kingston (right where the boats are, I'm not sure what route that is) and found a hose. With confusion I looked at him with a WHA?, as he got out of his car and filled his coffee mug with water, and gave me a taste...and is was the best drinking water I ever had in my life. It felt so good to drink fresh water on that hot summer day. "Shmoo" has long past away , and RIP to him, and I'm still wondering where he found that water hose, in such a remote location of Kingston, just random and still confused on how he found this hose, lol.
I think water supply and the quality of depends on location and economics in America. I think that's sad, that NYC, with his high rent, high population gets the benefit of the doubt compared to the suburbs just 90 minutes north wich supplies it's water as the filtering of the supply of water is mucho better in NYC.. The irony of all of this. of course this poorer communities, around the corner from Stop and Shop and the projects where I live get the shaft.
I hope the environment of my neighborhood improves on every level, as I feel sorry for the deer, groundhogs, rabbits and overall natural habitat of my 'hood. Please do NOT urbanize this town, it's already being ruined by urban development.
Although I'm not a fan of the Village board of my town, the previous administration (village board up to 2007) did NOTHING about the contamination in my neighborhood wich you would expect them to take on such issues with their usual tree hugging poses but instead grand standed on such political issues as the war in Iraq, gay marriages and their own political ambitions. I may agree that gay marriages should be legal, and the war in Iraq is over oil, but what about here. This is why my apathy in voting for my local town politicians, is just that.

FROM THE NEW PALTZ TIMES 12/30/2009: As for her particular vision for the upcoming two years, Hokanson reiterated her commitment to establishing a town water supply, independent of the village water supply, which is contracted with New York City from the aqueduct which draws water from the Ashokan Reservoir

JONI JOKINEN INTERVIEWS BURZUM

BURZUM mastermind VARG VIKERNES was recently interviewed by JONI JOKINEN as a part of a fan question and answer session promoted by BURZUM.ORG. The BURZUM interview has been posted on BURZUM's official website Burzum.org. BURZUM shall unleash
"BELUS" 3/8/2010 on BYELOBOG PRODUCTIONS.
FROM BURZUM.ORG:

Part I. "Belus".

Joni Jokinen (Finland): Why did you choose Belus as your theme for the upcoming album? You've already made an ambient album about Belus (Baldr). Weren't you happy with it?

Well, in fact I am not happy with any of my previous albums. That is however rather irrelevant in this context. Besides; "Dauði Baldrs" dealt with the myth until and including Ragnarok. Belus is an interpretation of the entire myth, and if I may say so; compared to "Dauði Baldrs" this is an infinitely more enlightened interpretation.

The reason I chose this theme is that I know this subject well. Further, some things have no expiration date, meaning they are as valid today as they were thousands of years ago, when they were created. Many of our myths fall into that category, including the myth about Belus/Baldr.

Roman Golikov (Norilsk, Russia): Do you have any plans to make a video clip for one of "Belus" tracks?

No. I have no such plans, but I know the record company wants me to. It is likely that I have been gone for too long to understand the value of such things.

Léo (Méréville, France): Where was the photo of "Belus" cover taken? Why did you choose it?

The "Belus" front cover photo was taken about 2 km from my home in Bø. I chose it because it suited the concept; Belus is a solar deity, and he remains a mystery on the front cover, because you cannot see him. You can only see the sun rays though the mist. Also, the deities, all the deities in fact, were originally tree spirits, and therefore I think the tree blocking our view to Belus himself fits perfeclty. The pine tree blocking our view to Belus is, by the way, dedicated to Kaimadalthas (Heimdallr ["world tree"]).

Anton Semykin (Ekaterinburg, Russia): Will there be a limited edition of "Belus" with bonuses?

Again, the record company wanted this. I on the other hand really don't like such things, so there will be none.

Emanuel Krstanović (Koprivnica, Croatia): In which studio was "Belus" recorded?

The same as all the others; Grieghallen. I am too conservative to start using a new studio... "If it works, don't fix it".

Semen Timofeev (Russia): What equipment did you use while recording "Belus" album, does it differ much from the one you used to record the début album?

Belus:
Peavey "Twenty-Three" guitar
Peavey 120 Watt 6505 amp and speaker
Customized bass of high quality
Old 1975 drum kit of unknown brand
High quality mics
Digital recording

Début:
Pearley white Weston guitar of unknown type
Peavey 60 Watt amp/speaker
Marshall 10 Watt amp/speaker
Customized bass of high quality
Drum kit of unknown brand and medium quality
High quality mics
Analogue recording

Unfortunately I used a 10 Watt Marshall for one of the guitars on the début, and I should not have done that. I used an excellent Peavey 60 Watt amp/speaker for the other guitar, and I really should have used that for both guitars. I therefore used a 120 Watt Peavey 6505 for both guitars this time. (I gave away my 60 Watt Peavey during my incarceration, so I had to get a new amp.)

The biggest difference from the first to the latest album is perhaps that I spent at least some time on the production of the album...

Resurgam (Russia): You are in debt to Norwegian government for burning churches. Will the sales return from "Belus" album be used to pay this debt?

Of course not. Thanks for asking though. I really don't want anyone to believe that a single penny of my or anybody else's income from Burzum will be used to pay this debt. The only thing they will ever get from me is the finger, so to speak.

Wyatt Burton (Dallas, Texas USA): Is there any possibility of a live Burzum show to support "Belus" release?

It sounds as if half of you have been paid by Byelobog Productions to ask such questions. My record company certainly wants me to play live, badly, but I have no such plans. My only motivation to do such a thing would be money, and I don't think that's a good reason to play live.

For some reason I like neither to go to concerts nor to play live myself (and I know, 'cause I did with Old Funeral about a dozen times), and I don't even see how Burzum's music would fit in a live show.

If I ever find a good reason to play live, then maybe I will, but until then...

Part II. Past.

Ich (Russia): The "Black Spell Of Destruction" song from the début Burzum album contains the following lines: "Damkuna, Iftraga Sheb Nigurepur, Dafast". What does it mean? Is there a link between "Sheb Nigurepur" and Howard Lovecraft’s Shub-Niggurath?

There might be a link. In the 80ies I sometimes played the "Call of Cthulu" role playing game, and through that discovered the writer H.P. Lovecraft, and the (fictional) book "Necronomicon". As far as I can remember I made up that "spell" myself though, but maybe I had the Lovecraftian lore in my mind when I did. You certainly have a point when you point at the similarity.

Oh, I almost forgot; it doesn't mean anything. It is just supposed to be a "spell" destroying the world as we know it... covering it in "burzum" (darkness).

Alex Jardine (Lone Pine, Pennsylvania, USA): What books have inspired you most of all en route to your Asatru beliefs?

My Asatru beliefs? Asatru means "belief in spirits", or "belief in (Norse) gods" if you wish to stick to the younger interpretations, and I can assure you that I don't believe in any spirits or deities whatsoever. I see all such beliefs as plain ignorance, or in fact as evidence of lacking intelligence. I know too much about religion to be religious, so to speak, and I am not that stupid either. (See the article "Religion or Reason" on this website.)

In other words we cannot speak about my "beliefs". Instead we should speak about my "interest in", and if we do I can tell that the original Norse texts inspired me the most to find out more about what you call Asatru, and more so the pre-religious world view known as Seið ("tradition").

The "Belus" lyrics are all about Seið, by the way. Only the album titles refers to the deities/mythology...

Michelle Carr (Leon, France): What was the real reason for the escape from the prison back in 2003?

Why? Have I ever given any unreal reasons for the "escape" from prison back in 2003?

You know, my French friend; this is complicated, and I might perhaps write about this later on, in a book or something, but not now and not in an interview like this.

Jason Mehlhorn (Dublin, Ireland): How did you spend your first day out of prison last year?

I spent the whole day travelling from Tromsø in Troms to Bø in Telemark.

Vadim Sarbukov (Moscow, Russia): Have you ever experienced drugs?

Certainly I have experienced drugs; too often I have experiences how annoying others become when they take drugs... but no: I have never taken drugs myself. I am not that stupid.

Part III. Present.

Jean-Daniel Bouchard (Montréal, Canada): How are you taken by the members of the modern Black Metal scene in Norway?

In no way.

Alexandr Antonov (Kharkiv, the Ukraine): Do you keep in touch with your fellows of the early 1990s Norwegian metal scene?

I've been in touch with my friends in Darkthrone and Mayhem, as well as the old Uruk-Hai drummer. The others, it turned out, were not my friends.

Wyatt Burton (Dallas, Texas USA): Is there a possibility of collaboration with Fenriz again or any other musicians in future?

Fenriz is a great guy and I like him a lot, but just like me he is somewhat "difficult", and I think we work best on our own, alone. Generally speaking I don't like (other) musicians, and I see no reason to collaborate with anybody. I am satisfied with my own skills as a musician, and like I mentioned already in this interview, I have no plans to play live.

Aleksander Hinchliffe (Lillehammer, Norway): What are your views on each season of a year?

Right now I think of Paganism when asked about the season, and the relation between the seasons and lunar phases, the elements, deities and life phases in the ancient world view.

Winter - Lunar Eclipse - Air - Tíwaz - Rebirth
Spring - Waxing Moon - Earth - Ertho - Birth
Summer - Full Moon - Fire - Sowili - Life
Autumn - Waning Moon - Water - Máni - Death
(New Year's Day - [No Moon Phase] - Spirit - Haimadalthaz - [No Life Phase])

Other than that I don't think too much about the seasons. They are all nice in their own way, and I appreciate them all.

Stanislav Tretyakov (Perm, Russia): What do you value most of all in your life?

That's too personal.

Or what if I say "how the evening light in the late summer elevates the beauty of Mother Earth"?

Inna Matviec and Radjiv Hairetdinov (Ufa, Russia): Are you a vegetarian? What is your opinion on vegetarianism?

No, I am not a vegetarian. For some time I tried to be a semi-vegetarian, eating only fish, birds, and no red meat, but... I don't know if I have an opinion on vegetarianism. I think we would have been better off without agriculture and even domestication of animals. We were stronger and more healthy as a species when we were hunter-gatherers. And we were fewer...

The Stone Age hunter-gatherers surely weren't vegetarians...

Anthony Bloxham (UK): How do you feel about the world now that America has its first black president?

Well, "mulatto" is more like it. He isn't "black". Anyway, I don't feel anything. The president in the USA is and has always been just a puppet for the true masters of the USA. Whether this puppet is white or black, yellow or brown, Democrat or Republican, or whatever, doesn't matter. The true rulers of the USA are the individuals working in the background, oh and by the way; they certainly all have the same ethnicity...

Vladimir Panteleev (Vladimir, Russia): What are your views on astrology?

Astrology is interesting, but not very accurate. It's a science I don't trust very much. I have yet to see an accurate horoscope... and I think most individuals who believe in astrology do because it flatters them.

Franmir (Coahuila, Mexico): Do you have a job?

Yes, I work as a musician...

Kurt Ahlstrand (Arboga, Sweden): What do you think about skinhead movement?

I guess it's a part of the immune system of the nation, and a natural reaction to an unhealthy development.

Part IV. Future.

Jean-Daniel Bouchard (Montréal, Canada): How do you see the future of Burzum?

You should ask an astrologist about that...

Well, I don't know what to say. I live one day at the time. Time shall tell.

Max Ross (Dallas, USA): What other themes rather than Scandinavian mythology may become a subject of future Burzum albums?

Everything and nothing. Maybe European pre-mythological sorcery traditions. I really don't know.

Uriy Kazaryan (Odessa, the Ukraine): What do you think about the end of the world and prophesies about it, will it ever happen? What is your opinion about year 2012 and rumors around it?

Well, the 2012 thing is a Mayan myth. These guys cut out the hearts of human victims as part of their primitive religion. They did this less than 500 years ago. I don't think we should pay much attention to what these savages said about the future.

Realistically, we risk an end to human life on this planet only if our planet is struck by a large object from outer space, or if we start a nuclear war. We will however sooner or later see an end to the current world order, but exactly when and how this will happen is not possible to know. I hope sooner rather than later.

Artem Treshin (St.-Petersburg, Russia): Was the farm an expensive purchase? How are you planning to use it?

By Norwegian standards it's not very expensive. A similar house in Oslo or Bergen cost at least twice that amount, a similar property at least ten times as much. I am planning to use it only as a residence. The forest is my only neighbour, so it is a nice place to live.

Skalder Franz (Franconia, Germany): Now that you're out of prison are you planning on traveling somewhere or is there any country, region or site you want to visit?

If I could I would never leave my home. I am about as adventurous as the average hobbit. Unfortunately I have to do some travelling though, for different reasons, and every now and then. In fact I drove through Germany a few weeks ago.

Andrey Kazakov (Novokuibishevsk, Russia): Any plans to visit Russia some day?

If the Tel Aviv-controlled NATO criminals ever attack Russia I will go, as a volunteer for the Russian Army, but other than that I have no plans to go to Russia. Like I said before; I am not very adventurous.

Dmitriy Komyakov (Chelyabinsk, Russia): Are there in your opinion any effective measures that may be taken against islamization of Europe?

Yes. The most effective measure would of course be to get rid of the "elected" governments in Europe, by voting for so-called right wing extremist parties, but if that fails we can always -- and probably will eventually -- use the Richard Lionheart method. :-)

Tao Bai (Harbin, China): Do you have any plans to make a side-project to play other kind of music and explore other musical styles?

No, but I don't rule out doing such a thing. I think I will keep Burzum a metal band, and if I decide to publish other types of music I will do this under other names.

HYPOTHERMIA OFFERING SKOGENS HJARTA SOON FOR DOWNLOAD

Swedish DSBM project HYPOTHERMIA will offer a new release entitled "SKOGENS HJARTA"(release date TBA) for free download via the projects website. HYPOTHERMIA's "SKOGENS HJARTA" is available for streaming at this location: http://hypothermia.trollkatt.com/Hypothermia-Skogens-Hjarta.mp3 FROM HYPOTHERMIA: On this page you will be able to see various things that I create.
I'm currently working on several different recordings that I'm doing my best to finance myself. But sometimes that isn't enough so I'm giving you the option to help me create.

On this page there will be links to several recordings, and I rather have you downloading them from me than strangers. I will leave it up to you to decide what you consider it being worth. But if you like what I create and want to see or hear more, it would be appreciated if you can give a donation.

Since last time I uploaded anything here there seems to have been some changes in what is possible to upload. I got an excerpt that represents the 4th album good enough but it's too big for this place so it had to be cut down into something that I don't feel represent the album enough. For the whole excerpt click on this link:
http://hypothermia.trollkatt.com/Skogens-Hjarta-excerpt.mp3

A homepage is also in the works but there are some minor problems to work on, for now it looks best if viewed in fullscreen through google chrome. But if you got another browser it just loads a bit differently, just try to make sure to view it in fullscreen or the code gets fucked up somehow. Besides information it is a bit personal with pictures and art by me. Check it at: http://hypothermia.trollkatt.com/

The whole album/song is available from the homepage. If you like what I create and feel like helping me to create more there is the possibility to make a donation of what you feel it's worth.

SKULL AND BONES.COM FAN Q and A WITH GORGOROTH

SKULL and BONES.COM promoted a fan Question and Answer interview with Norwegian black metal legends GORGOROTH. FROM SKULL and BONES.COM:
Why won't you allow your lyrics to be printed anywhere?
Tormentor: We've chosen not to enclose the lyrics with the product because we believe that the music, the atmosphere it creates, artwork (cover) and the words works best combination, served as a whole.

Krakow was an insane feat. Do you fear that such theatrics will overshadow the music, and can Gorgoroth ever top this?
Infernus: No, we do not. Obviously, we don't. And for what the future will bring, time will tell.

What do you think are the proper measures a serious artist should take to become truly focused and immersed in their art, while achieving a level of esteem and recognition in the industry?
Tormentor: 100% honesty towards oneself and the concept or aim of the band. Everything else is secondary.

Gorgoroth, I'm sure you have already heard about the upcoming Lords of Chaos film where Varg will be portrayed by an actor from the Twilight movie. Do you care to share you feelings on this? Do you think this will have an affect on one of your country's biggest exports, black metal?
Tormentor: I don't think it will have an effect on black metal from Norway. It has already been exposed massively through 1000 documentaries etc etc. Personally I can't see how this movie can turn out well in any way what so ever. It's a pretty good chance that it'll become a grandiose turkey.

Hello, I was wondering if the Live In Grieghallen gonna be released with pest on vocals?
Infernus: the move is on the record label. We did our part of the job, and we did it properly. Anyway, for my concern, this is not really a big deal. They release it, or we simply just record another live album.. And at the same time make sure it turns out like that as well - a live album.

How did you guys get started in using so much bizarre and evil stage setups and imagery? Did it all start when you got signed and had enough money, or have you always done it?
Infernus: you really care? I guess if you did, you would probably do your homework a bit better. But, by all means, I do get your point.. It should go without saying that bigger budgets allow use of bigger quantities of stage props. That's easy mathematics.

What is your favorite place to play in? and why is it so great to you guys?
Infernus: They are many, good in each their way. Personally - if I am forced into being more specific - I would say I am fond of venues like Planet Music in Vienna, and of the Party San-festival. First and foremost for the professional mind set and organizations behind these institutions in contemporary European metal music business. Then, I would have to say I am very fond of Latin America as a whole. But the reasons why become a bit more vague. I believe it has something with the mentality and dedication to do, and this attracts me. Performing live in countries like Colombia, Argentina and Brazil - I guess I will never grow tired of it!

When are you guys gonna tour the USA????
Bøddel: At the moment we have nothing booked but we plan to torch US soil some time later in 2010!

Infernus, what are your thoughts on the coming years/2012 and the outcome of this new age?
Infernus: For me and my band is concerned, the upcoming years will represent the same as always before. Loads of hard work, and all that just exactly to be able to continue what we are doing. Continuing it our way. Our, and no one else's. Without any cheap or desperate tricks on finding an easy way around. Whether this will fit in with what is regarded as fashionable or not, we'll see about. I feel confident we are fit to outgrow any trend as the situation is now, as long as we just continue doing and delivering what feels right. So, big deal - plastic people go listening to plastic music. We do not need you anyway. Beyond that - you want me to predict about the coming of the age of Satan - I assume. But I will not. Because it is all here already, for the one who can read the signs. Either you've got it, or you don't. Sad but true, yeah!

To Infernus: I know you went to University, because Gaahl told it in an Interview, so what did you study there and what was your Job, when Gorgoroth was still at the beginning?
Infernus: I have a degree, yes. So what. Perhaps you should try it one day. It ain't that bad. And, contrary to many people's understanding, it fits in perfectly well with both being a metal musician and a Satanist.

Do you believe in a life after death?
Tormentor: No. If I'm wrong I'll be extremely disappointed.

We understand the language of Christians that call you evil, but with that said, is the purpose of Gorgoroth to truly transform the individuals and fans into True spiritual beings with True Morality being the real message or is it about the annihilation of the human race via misanthropy?
Tomas Asklund: I'd settle for a vast reduction of the named species.
-If the latter, is it more so with the transforming the individual, or pointless violence/murdering?
Tomas Asklund: To each his own...

What is in the inner heart mind and soul that you are willing to reveal to the public in the hopes that the Will of Gorgoroth will be done?
Tomas: We channel the Satanic essence with our music, but what is heard in the performance is only a representation, the essence is to be found within the individual, the listener.

What do you want the legacy of Gorgoroth to be?
Bøddel: The legacy is and always will be the most vicious and feared band to ever exist!

How do you want to be remembered?
Infernus: as honest and hard hitting. Not necessarily understood and liked by all and everybody. But as a person and musician daring to be himself. That should do!
Also, ex GORGOROTH members GAAHL and KING filed a lawsuit vs. REGAIN records
to halt the release of a planned GORGOROTH live disc, REGAIN records states the label is NOT bankrupt.
FROM BLABBERMOUTH.NET:Former members of the Norwegian black metal band GORGOROTH and the Swedish record label Regain Records have issued separate statements regarding the resolution of their legal dispute over the release of the allegedly unauthorized release of GORGOROTH's "Live in Grieghallen" album via Regain. Both statements appear in their entirety below.

Statement from former GORGOROTH members King (real name: Tom Cato Visnes) and Gaahl (real name: Kristian Espedal):

"On December 17, 2009, authorities in Malmö, Sweden decided in favor of King and Gaahl in their case brought against Regain Records for the unauthorized release of GORGOROTH's 'Live in Grieghallen' album. Regain Records has been found to have broken their contract with King/Gaahl on numerous accounts, has been forbidden by the courts to sell this album in the future and has been ordered to pay all legal costs and compensation in the case.

"In anticipation of the verdict, Regain Records filed bankruptcy to Lund Tingsrett in Sweden and was declared bankrupt on December 8, 2009 (Regain Records and Entertainment AB corporate identity number 556689-1825). Peter Överman from Ackordcentralen, Sweden is named as liquidator and is now working on getting an overview of Regain's financial situation as well as handling the claims from Gaahl and King on unpaid royalties, among other claims."

Statement from Regain Records:

"Due to misleading rumors being spread through GOD SEED's [King and Gaahl's post-GORGOROTH project] MySpace page regarding the bankruptcy of Regain Records, we would like to clarify to all who have contacted us recently that Regain Records is not in bankruptcy.

"We would also like to make clear that the dispute that concerns 'Live In Grieghallen' only involves Tom Cato Visnes (a.k.a. King Ov Hell), Regain Records and Entertainment AB, since a settlement with Kristian Espedal (a.k.a. Gaahl) was already reached in 2009. The legal outcome of this trial has no bearing on Regain Records nor does it influence our future in any way. It is also incorrect that Regain Records owes any unpaid royalties to Tom Cato Visnes or Kristian Espedal.

"Furthermore, Regain Records is very content with the fact that we are still working with the band GORGOROTH and the fact that we choose to support the rightful owner of the trademark, namely Roger Tiegs (a.k.a. Infernus). This has always been our main priority during the various legal proceedings which have involved GORGOROTH in one way or another."
