Just a week after announcing their resurrection, Swedish melodic metal masters Nocturnal Rites - The Official Site already come up with a brand new single: the lyric video for “Before We Waste Away” is available now! It marks the first new recorded NOCTURNAL RITES music since the release of 2007’s “The 8th Sin”.
“This track has a classic Nocturnal Rites vibe to it – a melodic and catchy mid-tempo tune that still incorporates some edge and heaviness. On a whole, though, the album is really diverse. It has a few tracks with some obvious “Afterlife” aggression to them and some that are more orchestral and epic, which is somewhat new to us. We are thrilled to release this first song and can’t wait to get the entire record out! More to come", commented the band.

This fall and winter, along with our regularly scheduled programing, we will again produce the tremendously successful California Deathfest, and are entering into a new relationship with UC Berkeley's Cal Performances to bring Oakland some of the most astounding international performance artists in the world. The first in that series to be announced is: Spectrum Dance Theater (Co-created by director/choreographer Donald Byrd and actress/playwright Anna Deavere Smith) will perform a new dance-theater work entitled A Rap on Race, based on a book of the same name by James Baldwin and Margaret Mead.
It has been two and a half years since we were forced by skyrocketing rents to move the Oakland Metro a block and a half towards Broadway. We have continued, uninterrupted, to provide a community outlet for free expression, and to produce art and music events.
We still exist, but are struggling financially. We have been blocked by our neighbor, seemingly indefinitely, from transferring our non-profit liquor licence. We have devised a work around for this situation in the interim, but in the process we have gotten behind in rent. Our landlords have been tremendously supportive throughout this entire situation and we would like to pay them some back rent. We are seeking $25,000 to help offset the costs and loss of income that have resulted from our neighbors actions. DEVILISH IMPRESSIONS’ “The I” album to feature special guests appearances by Mercyful Fate / King Diamond’s Mike Wead and by Ares of AETERNUS. Album’s cover art and tracklist revealed.
Hailing from Poland, the epic black / death metallers of DEVILISH IMPRESSIONS will release their new album, “The I” on September 22nd, 2017 via Lifeforce Records. The album will be available as CD digipak, limited vinyl LP and digital download.
Recorded at various studios, including Dobra 12 Studio (drums) and Icaros Studio (guitars) the disc was mixed and mastered at Impressive-Art Studio by Przemyslaw Nowak who also handled vocals recording sessions and guitars’ re-amping. The album features special guest appearances by MERCYFUL FATE / KING DIAMOND’s guitarist Mike Wead and by Norway’s dark metal masters AETERNUS’ vocalist / guitarist Ares. Other artists who also contributed to the record are shamanic ritual meditative experimental act BÖN and Impressive Art Studio’s owner PRZEMYSLAW NOWAK who came up with interludes, additional background tunes and effects.
“It’s been a really long way to be finally able to wrap it all up, countless nights spent on writing the music and lyrics first, then working on the album’s pre-production, followed by what seemed to be never-ending, proper recording sessions, and tones of work that had to be done for the band afterwards. We really wanted this new album to become something really special and therefore, to avoid any haphazard decisions, we let them come out of us smoothly, without putting ourselves under any external tension and stuff. Did it pay off? Well, we’ll see… We surely worked our asses off, pushed things back and forth to get the best out of it. As a result we’ve got something we are damn proud of, something that we believe surpasses on all possible levels everything we’ve done in the past. I simply believe we’d outdone ourselves and recorded something that will cause your hearts beat faster…” – comments Quazarre, the band’s composer, vocalist and guitarist.
The title chosen, “The I”, for the record is not only a phonetic acronym of the band’s name, but above all it reflects the manifesto they stand for since the Horde’s inception in the year 2000 – the notion of freedom of choice and will. A supremacy of an individual over any external factors being imposed on us by others, with special emphasis on religion and its convictions, dogmas and paradigms. “The I” is a rebellious manifesto targeted against all those who stand opposed to anything that drives us towards individual perfection.

Premiera „The I”, najnowszego krążka polskich black / death metalowców DEVILISH IMPRESSIONS, odbędzie się 22 września 2017r. nakładem Lifeforce Records. Płyta dostępna będzie jako CD digipak, limitowany winyl LP oraz digital download.
Album został zarejestrowany w kilku miejscach: Dobra12 Studio (perkusja), Icaros Studio (gitary) oraz Impressive Art Studio, gdzie pod okiem Przemysława Nowaka zreampowano gitary i nagrano wokale, po czym całość poddano miksom i masteringowi. Okładkę, layout i artwork zaprojektował Infected Minds. Za sesję zdjęciową odpowiadają Robert Zembrzycki i Paweł Kowalski z Bandphoto.pl.
Na płycie gościnnie wystąpili gitarzysta MERCYFUL FATE i KING DIAMOND Mike Wead oraz Ares, wokalista norweskich pionierów dark metalu AETERNUS. Obok w/w swoje piętno na „The I” odcisnęli także muzycy enigmatycznego projektu BÖN (shamanic ritual meditative experimental) oraz właściciel Impressive Art Studio, Przemysław Nowak, odpowiedzialny za intra oraz dodatkowe dźwięki i efekty.
„Upłynęło naprawdę sporo czasu nim udało się nam doprowadzić wszystko do tego punktu… Niezliczone noce poświęcone na tworzenie muzyki i tekstów, prace nad przed-produkcyjną wersją albumu i późniejsze, zdające się trwać w nieskończoność nagrania właściwe, jak również następujący po tym wszystkim ogrom pracy nad innymi sprawami związanymi z zespołem. Naprawdę zależało nam, by ta płyta była czymś wyjątkowym, dlatego też, by uniknąć przypadkowych decyzji jej dotyczących, pozwoliliśmy, aby te wypływały z nas samoistnie, nie ulegaliśmy jakimkolwiek naciskom zewnętrznym. Czy było warto? Cóż, zobaczymy… Mogę tylko zapewnić, że pracowaliśmy nad nią wyjątkowo ciężko i zrobiliśmy dosłownie wszystko, by osiągnąć możliwie najlepszy efekt. W rezultacie mamy coś, z czego jesteśmy niezwykle dumni, coś, co w moim odczuciu przewyższa na każdym poziomie wszystko, co napisaliśmy do tej pory. Wierzę, że przeszliśmy samych siebie i nagraliśmy coś, co sprawi, że Wasze serca zabiją szybciej…” – komentuje Quazarre, kompozytor, wokalista i gitarzysta grupy.
Tytuł albumu, „The I”, to nie tylko fonetyczny akronim nazwy zespołu (The I = DI), ale też, przede wszystkim, bezpośrednie odzwierciedlenie manifestu, którego sztandary grupa niesie ze sobą od początku istnienia – manifestu gloryfikującego pojęcie wolności wyboru i niczym nieograniczonej woli. To memoriał głoszący wyższość jednostki ponad jakimikolwiek czynnikami zewnętrznymi narzucanymi nam przez innych, ze szczególnym wskazaniem na religię z jej dogmatami i ‘jedynie słusznymi’ wzorcami. „The I” to niepokorny manifest skierowany przeciwko wszystkim stojącym w opozycji względem tego, co pomaga nam w nieustannym doskonaleniu samych siebie…

Australian progressive, technical death metal warriors THE RITUAL AURA have revealed the art work, track listing and have posted a teaser for the bands anticipated EP release "VELOTHI", due to be unleashed FALL 2017 (release date T.B.A.).

We're very pleased to announce the following updates regarding our forthcoming EP - VELOTHI:
We can finally reveal the artwork for the EP, once again by our good friend Pedro Sena - Lordigan, who also handled the artwork for our last release.
He's done en excellent job capturing the vibe of not only the record, but the lore/setting as well, we've also hidden a few easter eggs in there for the lore buffs.

VELOTHI is divided into 2 meta-tracks; SUNDER and KEENING, each comprising of 4 interflowing parts.
These parts serve to evolve each step of the narrative over a run-time of roughly 20 minutes.

Drew Griffiths (Ur Draugr) will be handling vocal duties on VELOTHI, and in live performances moving forward.
Drew featured as a guest vocalist on several Tæther tracks, and has since stepped into the role of full-time vocals.
KC Brand (The Odious Construct) will also be writing drums over in the US.
We're excited to be working with both of these talented gentleman and look forward to sharing the resulting prosperity with you all!
