A quick note (of obligation) to say that there was a horrid tour bus accident on the "Christmas Carnage Tour" (in Australia last night) featuring death core bands ALL SHALL PERISH (USA) and THE RED SHORE (Australia). I'm guessing that the weather in Australia is little milder, the opposite of the winter weather in the USA, (from what I'm told winter in North America is summer in Australia and vice versa) so I'm not sure if weather conditions effected travel.
ALL SHALL PERISH were NOT involved in the touring accident, but 2 members of THE RED SHORE did NOT survive including the bands singer (DANO) and merch salesman/driver (ANDY).. It's been a weird year for touring bands, alot of accidents, so please be safe.
Check out THE RED SHORE here on MYSPACE: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=13068139
THE RED SHORE are/were a damn good death/grind band with a unique, techincal sound. The Aussies down under have good potential in the death/grind scene with the most notables being THE BERZERKER (industrial/death/grind), PSYCROPTIC (death/grind) from nearby Tasmania and FUCK I'M DEAD (death/grind)..
R.I.P. to the RED SHORE singer DANO, their driver/merch salesman ANDY and a speedy recovery to the RED SHORES camp.
Notes from the Extreme Metal Underground up next (I PROMISE!)
FROM ALL SHALL PERISH: Hey everyone,
This is Kelly, Ben's wife posting.
ALL SHALL PERISH were not the band that was in the accident. All of the guys in All Shall Perish are doing just fine.
The band that crashed was The Red Shore who was touring with All Shall Perish in Australia.
It kills me to write these words, two members of The Red Shore's camp did not survive the crash. I do not which members or crew it was that did not make it. Ben did not have many details for me.
This is the first news article I could find.
I don't know yet what this means for the rest of the tour, or for the show tonight.
I don't even know what to say/write right now.
Thank you everyone for all of the love and support. CBS5.com reports that members of the Oakland, California-based death metal band ALL SHALL PERISH
were unharmed in a mini-bus accident in Australia that claimed the
lives of two members of another band, a band member said in an email
Wednesday.
Matt Kuykendall, the drummer for ALL SHALL PERISH, said, "We are fine, yes."
However, Kuykendall said two members of the Australian band THE RED SHORE, which was traveling with ALL SHALL PERISH, and their crew "were tragically killed."
Kuykendall identified those members as Damo and Andy.
"Our hearts go out to the families of Damo and Andy and everyone else in THE RED SHORE," he said.
News
reports said the accident occurred when the two bands were traveling
from Brisbane to Sydney when their van veered off the road, rolled
several times and slammed into a tree.
Kuykendall said, "We have two more shows left in Melbourne and then we are flying home for the holidays."
