DARK FUNERAL BASSIST QUITS

Swedish black metal legends DARK FUNERAL have announced that bassist "B FORCE" has quit the band.
FROM DARK FUNERAL:
Bassist B-Force has left Swedish black metallers DARK FUNERAL. The band's guitarist, Lord Ahriman, said in a statement, "I wish to thank [B-Force] for the six fantastic years he'd been with us on bass. It's been a pleasure indeed working together."

Commented B-Force: "After six awesome and crazy years with DARK FUNERAL, I have decided to leave the band. It's my own decision to leave one of the best band/friends in the world, but I feel that I need to move forward in life and do something else music-wise. There are absolutely NO hard feelings between me and DARK FUNERAL. We are and will continue to be good friends!

"I want to thank the band and all the fans all over the world. You kick ass everywhere I've been playing with the band. I thank you all. May the dark forces be with you."

DARK FUNERAL has already found "a new and totally amazing bassist; a bassist who lives and breathes DARK FUNERAL in its purest form," according to Lord Ahriman. "We will, however, wait until everything is settled before we present him to all of you, so please be patient."

DARK FUNERAL played its final show with vocalist Magnus "Masse" Broberg (a.k.a. Emperor Magus Caligula) on August 21, 2010 at the Summer Breeze festival in Dinkelsbühl, Germany. "Since this was a very special performance in many ways, we not only put on our biggest pyro show ever, we also captured this gig with 10 cameras (including one crane)," said Lord Ahriman. "So you can be sure to expect a DVD release from this killer show in the near future."

Broberg announced his departure from DARK FUNERAL last month, explaining that "my life has taken a new turn lately, and I am also getting married this year, whereof my priorities in life lie somewhere else." Guitarist and founding member Lord Ahriman added, "I understand when people change course and get new priorities in life. And I fully respect that. Life moves on, after all, and so will DARK FUNERAL.

"Angelus Exuro Pro Eternus", the latest album from DARK FUNERAL, was released in North America on January 26, 2010 via Regain Records. The CD, which was made available in most European countries between November 18, 2009 and November 27, 2009, was recorded at Abyss Studio in Grangärde, Sweden with famed engineer and legendary producer Peter Tägtgren (PAIN, HYPOCRISY). Nine songs are featured on the effort, which is being described in a press release as "the band's most technical and varied album to date. And while still being true to their roots, they have taken a great step forward in the evolution of their brand of fine Swedish black metal. 'Angelus Exuro Pro Eternus' is, from the very beginning to the end, a hell ride you simply don't want to miss!"

The "Angelus Exuro Pro Eternus" cover artwork was created by Morbid (Daniel Valeriani).

"Angelus Exuro Pro Eternus" was released in a couple of different formats, including a two-disc limited edition containing one CD and one live DVD. The bonus live DVD features approximately 55 minutes of previously unreleased material professionally filmed with six cameras during the band's 15th anniversary show at the Peace & Love festival on June 28, 2008 in Borlänge, Sweden. The album also includes two versions (soft and hardcore) of the band's brand new video, "My Funeral".

Fan-filmed video footage of DARK FUNERAL's final performance with Emperor Magus Caligula) can be viewed below.

BEHEMOTH FRONTMAN ADAM "NERGAL" DARSKI DIAGNOSED WITH LEUKEMIA

Polish death metal heroes BEHEMOTH have confirmed that band frontman Adam “Nergal” Darski has been diagnosed with Leukemia as BEHEMOTH issued the following statement on the matter:
ITP EDITORS NOTE: Polish blackened death metallers BEHEMOTH are one of the hardest working bands in all of extreme metal as BEHEMOTH have always given 110 % as the band put on awesome live shows. We at ITP all wish Adam "Nergal" Darski (BEHEMOTH vocalist/guitarist) all the best in health. Get well soon NERGAL and HAILS. \m/ -l-

FROM BEHEMOTH:
“BEHEMOTH leader Nergal has just found out he needs a marrow transplant to fight the sickness he has recently been diagnosed with (leukemia). In light of this he wants to remind everyone about the need to be on the marrow registry. The more people get tested and donate, the more of a chance for life there is for him and people in the same situation.

BEHEMOTH and Metal Blade would like to thank everyone for their support and well wishes during this difficult time. The best thing we can all do right now is learn about the marrow donation process, not only help save one of metal’s leaders, but to also help save countless others out there struggling with the same disease.

To learn more about how you can register to donate marrow check out: http://www.marrow.org/

Fans wanting to help out, register for the marrow program, or have questions on running a marrow drive may contact the organization Music Saves Lives by email at iCare@musicsaveslives.com or visit Music Saves Lives at http://www.musicsaveslives.org/

Music Saves Lives is the bridge between music, entertainment and important life-saving causes. We bring a simple concept; connect the music and entertainment, we all love, to a life saving community action. MSL has focused efforts on blood donation and the marrow registry, reaching out by sharing facts, educating and empowering. We educate about the importance of simple life saving actions they can participate in. These simple actions, like donating blood, running a blood drive, and registering for the marrow program to save those with leukemia, all connect back to the community.”
UPDATE 8/26/2010:
Adam "Nergal" Darski, the 33-year-old guitarist/vocalist from BEHEMOTH, has finished the first round of chemotherapy after being diagnosed with a life-threatening form of leukemia and is "in great spirits," according to LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe who spoke with the Polish musician last night (Wednesday, August 25). Blythe added in a Twitter posting that Nergal is "just recovering."

As previously reported, Darski is currently receiving treatment at the hematology division of the Gdansk Medical University Hospital and is in urgent need of a bone-marrow transplant. (A bone-marrow transplant is when special cells [called stem cells] that are normally found in the bone marrow are taken out, filtered, and given back either to the same person or to another person.)

Every year, more than 10,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with leukemia or lymphoma, and a bone-marrow transplant from an unrelated person is their best or only hope for survival. There is no data available on how many people die waiting for a match, but only four out of 10 patients receive the needed transplant.

To learn more about how you can register to donate marrow, go to www.marrow.org.

Darski's fiancée, 26-year-old Polish pop singer Doda (real name: Dorota Rabczewska), has reportedly already donated her bone marrow but her tissue type is not believed to be a close enough match.

As a result of Darski's illness, all of the band's previously announced shows — including those in Russia and the Baltic states in September/October and the U.S. tour with WATAIN in November — have been cancelled.

Austria's Stormbringer.at webzine conducted an interview with Darski when BEHEMOTH played this year's Masters Of Rock festival, which was held July 15-18, 2010 in Vizovice, Czech Republic. Watch the chat below.

BEHEMOTH recently shot a video for the song "Alas The Lord Is Upon Me", taken from the band's latest album, "Evangelion". The clip was produced and directed by Dariusz Szermanowicz and Grupa 13, which previously helmed BEHEMOTH's videos for "Ov Fire And The Void" and "At The Left Hand Ov God".

BEHEMOTH was honored in the "Album Of The Year (Heavy Metal)" category at this year's Fryderyk Awards, Poland's most prestigious music award ceremony. Awards were presented in over 20 pop, classical and jazz categories at the event, which was held on April 19 in Warsaw, Poland.

LAWSUIT AGAINST MEADOBROOK FARMS/CIRCLE NEW PALTZ, NY

WE'RE COMPLAINING ABOUT YOU KAREN AND YOUR DRUG ADDICTS FRIENDS:
THIS IS A LAWSUIT THAT WE ARE CONSIDERING, ITP'S AUTHOR NEVER THOUGHT SHE WOULD BE THE FLAGBEARER FOR FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS, AS NOW I AM, AND MEADOBROOK IS IN TROUBLE: It's unfortunate that we have to remind tenants, Meadobrook Circle, New Paltz, NY staff and tax payers that according to HUD and EOH LAW it is illegal to discriminate regarding housing based upon race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, family status, gender, "musical preference", or religion. MEADOBROOK CIRCLE will sued for slander, defamation of character and we definitely would question their staffs sobriety.
Wanna fight MEADOBROOK, and we want to finish you off. We have property manger KAREN KOHANSKI on tape. I will KILL for my first amendment rights. I DID NOT OWE MEADOBROOK MONEY, IN FACT THEY OWED ME MONEY DUE TO OVERPAYMENTS IN RENT AS FAR BACK AS 2002 (DUE TO OVERPAYMENTS IN SSI-WICH I PAYED BACK IN 2005) AS I HAVE CHECK COPIES AND BANK STATEMENTS TO PROVE RENT WAS PAYED IN APRIL AND MAY.KOHANSKI WAS COVERING FOR HER DRUG ADDICTED FRIENDS AND ELI ERAZO'S DEATH VIA OD. EX MEADOBROOK PROPERTY MANGER KAREN KOHNASKI WAS FIRED IN OCTOBER OF 2010. WE WANT 309, 307, AND 208 EVICTED AND CONVICTED. THERE IS NO SUCH NEGATIVE JUDGMENT AGAINST ME IN COURT, AND MEADOBROOK IS GUILTY OF EMBEZZLEMENT AND EXTORTION.
t them on audio tape making discriminatory comments while I was in the office.. Any band that I've (I've never booked that awful band MALAMOR) booked or have been in, or currently perform in is NOT property of Meadobrook Circle and we are also suing for copy write infringement with a cease and desist regarding OUR intellectual property law.
With that said, we are suing Meadobrook circle as "writing in a METAL journal" is not illegal, nor is this journal property of Meadobrook management, and it IS copy written and a cease and desist will be served to Meadobrook. Listening to metal (I'm 40) is not illegal as we're suing for harassment. We don't take kindly to drug addicts bullying sober and innocent people like me.
As drug using/dealing tenets and Meadobrook staff are harassing those of us whom are sober in denial of THEIR drug use and statements of FACT in this journal. We are straight edge, and I don't drink and I hate and do not use drugs.
The same FACTS were printed in local and regional newspapers regarding a drug raid against MEADOBROOK CIRCLE's then superintendent Eli C. Erazo whom died of a drug or alcohol related OD in June of 2010, LMAO. http://whiteandvenutofuneralhome.com/_mgxroot/page_10732.php: FROM DAILY FREEMAN:
NEW PALTZ — Five Ulster County residents were arrested Friday and face multiple felony drug charges as the result of an on-going investigation by the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team (URGENT).

The five were arrested after selling cocaine to undercover officers and subsequent searches of homes at 512 Meadowbrook Circle and 802 Meadowbrook Circle in New Paltz.

URGENT had been observing the group for the past six months after receiving complaints of drug trafficking in the area.

Members of URGENT found over 64 grams of cocaine, an undisclosed amount of marijuana, electronic scales, drug packaging materials, cutting agents, drug paraphernalia and handgun ammunition at the two homes.

Ali Khan Lodhi, 20, of 802 Meadowbrook Circle, was charged with two felony counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance and two felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, a third felony count of criminal possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor criminally using drug paraphernalia.

Eli C. Erazo, 35, of 512 Meadowbrook Circle, was charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, felony criminal sale of a controlled substance and misdemeanor criminally using drug paraphernalia, and Melissa Vandermark, 30, same address, was charged with four felony counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance, five felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor criminally using drug parphernalia.

Also arrested were Martice A. Mclellan, 20, of 41F Colonial Arms, and Ronald J. Fells, 35, of 24 Amato Lane in Highland.

Mclellan was charged with two felony counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance and two felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, while Fells was charged with single felony counts of drug sale and possession.

All five were arraigned in Town of New Paltz Justice Court and sent to the Ulster County Jail.
There fore I'm bumping this journal entry from (MARCH? 2010) so you GET THOSE issues of civil liberties, MEADOBROOK YOU WILL NEVER WIN. Will be headbanging for the rest of our lives, and we assume that Meadobrook is hiding continued usage of their drug and alcohol habits as the author of this journal has been and continues to be SOBER.
NOTHING WILL STOP ITP as we continue to exist, headbang and we're keeping it brutal.
ITP is not try to sell you are product, or tell you how to make money in a scam, we're as genuine about extreme metal as one can be, and always exited to write about extreme metal news and reviews, as this, blogging is a
LEGAL form of expression.
I've wanted to be a writer, since I was a kid, it's a solitary form of expression, for the literate, and certainly a better choice compared to those whom engage in illegal activities such as drugs, violence, as we don't engage in, nor condone, specifically since I'm straight edge (ok, I smoke cigarettes) , and this is a healthier activity.
Most importantly, all sources on ITP V.010 are attributed as statements of FACT, not always opinion within the exception of metal reviews, and editorials (are) supported and attributed by news articles. Being ITP statements are those of rationality and fact, blunt as it is, this journal is not libelous, sources are attributed and most certainly NOT A BOT.
I do not accept fascism, harassment of any sort or type and will sue if this journal is suppressed, as yes, I'm a real person, almost 40 (sniffle), nor will I pay RENT in place that denies the truth (supported by media) or any such freedom to rent paying tenets , as my journal states the truth as fact, according to my attorney. I smell a lawsuit.
We enjoy our first amendment rights in the U.S.A. and allow others to enjoy those rights as well, irrelevant to if we all agree or not, otherwise any suppression of information would defeat the purpose of a DEMOCRACY.
It is important that people KNOW the difference between first amendment rights, freedom of speech and liberties vs. slander and defamation of character as my personal attorney will sue anyone whom defames my character.
However, as a former journalism major at SUNY NEW PALTZ (NEW PALTZ, NY) I choose to write in an almost DRY, AP (ASSOCIATED PRESS ) style writing, because: A: it's less physical
writing and more structured B: It's less of my opinion, just the facts, there for more cohesive C: The reviews are reserved for opinions from CD's me and my friends BUY, there fore since 2009, this journal is legible and more structured, thanks to a change in format. D: Other than reviews, most of ITP is straight up press releases from the bands themselves, their labels and the PR that represent them. Other than the genre specific news features, it takes 5 minutes per journal entry and a rare case of writers block, but I get the job done. BTW, as BLABBERMOUTH.NET. and BWBK.COM have the same exact source as (Blabbermouth.net. has more sources and gossip) as I try to avoid the gossip. Thank gawd for journalism 101, and 102, and ETHICS IN JOURNALISM.
BTW, check out the link to the right of this journal FAIRNESS AND ACCURACY IN REPORTING, it's real important that you view not just the media but everything with a critical eye.
Any questions? I will be represented by the ACLU, my pizza metal head attorney "deuce", and just to think of the smell of the money this server makes off of ads at the expense of economically disadvantaged writers like me here on BLOGSPOT.COM, as I don't even advertise on this blog. Ya don't like the blog, don't read it, if you want to suppress my liberty to write, move to another country, I will gladly pay a one way ticket for you to move there, as I consider it a major compliment that ITP V.010 is ruffling some feathers, BTW, I WILL continue to do so, from anywhere and everywhere.
Also, specifically to any of you whom someone how think this journal should be about RAP (retards attempting poetry-NOT MUSIC!), or kids stuff, I'm sorry. I'm an adult it is NOT my responsibility to be mandated into some kind of indentured servitude or slavery by writing specifically for your kids. I'm not your kids parents, I'm my own person, and it YOUR responsibility as a parent to monitor your kids activities on and off line, free of censoring others.
NOTHING will change about this journal, wherever it will be, with the exception of some spelling and grammatical errors.
AND..I will always be a metal head.
It's funny, all these people in their denial, I NEVER thought I would HAVE TO be a flag bearer for first amendment rights, as this journal entry is BCC to the ACLU as I'm totally pre prepared to go to WAR for it.
A friend of mine asked me, what war would you fight, enlist for, as we fell on the floor laughing soo hard at the "wars" America sells to it's citizens under false pre tenses. Maybe I would have fought in the CIVIL WAR.. However, if the war ever came down to first amendment and constitutional rights, and my country (as it usually does) wasn't lying to me, sign me up, I would DEFINITELY fight any WAR for those constitutional rights although I'm not military minded, and they probably wouldn't take me in the military (4F I'm already traumatized), but I would fight in that war, on any front, censorship is UN AMERICAN.

This is WHY ITP V.010 (and V.09) is dedicated to those whom fight for FREEDOM, and their right to enjoy metal, NEDA and those brave people in IRAN in the sweltering summer of 2009.
BTW, ELI ERAZO and BRENNER are are NO ONE in the music industry as they are impostors, impersonators, we don't know nor wanna know them and they are not musicians nor promoters as they MADE THREATS ON METAL BANDS, to rationalize Brenner's and there own and others illegal activities. Katheryn Brenner-Gutierrez- (309 Meadobrook circle- http://www.classmates.com/directory/school/New%20Paltz%20High%20School?org=6235) are NOT allowed at any metal shows, (they've never been to our shows) and are blacklisted internationally, at least 10 people are blacklisted from any metal shows-they will be criminalized and sued for copy write infringement with a cease and desist. We stand united against drug and alcohol abuse, they are NOT the victims, and not a part of any music scene, they are impostors and impersonators. (Anyone imitating or repeating these douchebag/drug addicts behavior should cut the BS of their self incriminating behavior)*BTW, MEADOBROOK CIRCLE, NEW PALTZ, NY owes the author of ITP $, as a tenet for over payment of rent due to clerical errors 2002/2003,(:due to SSI taking out $ in my check due to overpayments due to SSI's clerical errors,:I payed SSI back in 2005: Meadobrook calculated my rent based upon my income WRONG) there fore we are charging Meadobrook Circle with embezzlement, I'll sue them in court. When Meadobrook undercharged me in rent in 2005, due to their clerical errors, I paid them back due to THEIR errors, WHY don't they pay ME back in check. We are straight edge and are not tolerating this abuse. Get rid of those drug addicts including Brenner-Gutierrez whom are harassing those of us whom are sober, and are trying to cover for their dead drug dealer. Otherwise we will be suing Meadobrook and Brenner-Gutierrez in court. UPDATE 10/2010: DONE, mission accomplished, Karen 'lenny" Kohanaski FIRED.

EX TYPE O NEGATIVE DRUMMER SAL ABRUSCATO SPEAKS TO METAL GEEK ABOUT THE LATE PETER STEELE

Former TYPE O NEGATIVE/CARNIVORE drummer SAL ABRUSCATO spoke to METALGEEK (on WORD PRESS) about PETER STEELE, late vocalist/bassist of Brooklyn, NY gothic/metal band TYPE O NEGATIVE and Brooklyn metalcore legends LIFE OF AGONY.
FROM METALGEEK (WORDPRESS):
Interview: Sal Abruscato about his time in Type O Negative, Life Of Agony, and his new project “A Pale Horse Named Death”

Sal Abruscato is a man with many stories to tell. He was in the original line-up of Brooklyn’s finest Type O Negative, still plays drums with Life Of Agony and has a fascinating new project called “A Pale Horse Named Death” which is his top priority right now. We caught up with Sal during Life Of Agony’s European tour in Vienna/Austria to talk about his time in Type O Negative, Peter Steele, Life Of Agony and A Pale Horse Named Death.

Here a few excerpts:

“There was things going on with him but I think death did surprise him at that very moment.” “The last time I actually saw him was when I touched his shoulder when he was laying there in the funeral home.” – about deceased Type O Negative frontman Peter Steele

“I thought it was pathetic to try to get this other fuck in and still call it Life Of Agony.” – about Whitfield Crane replacing Keith Caputo

“We are all very different and we all wanna do things in four different ways. So there is no fucking time! There is no time to be a real band because of people doing other shit.” – about the possibility of a new Life Of Agony album

“A Pale Horse Named Death” is basically my baby. I play all the instruments on the record and I sing, something that’s no one known about until now.” – about his new project A Pale Horse Named Death

And now for something completely different the whole interview:

When you were a kid, what made you want to play the drums?

I don’t know, I just fell into it. I don’t have any musicians in my family. I started as a little kid with the screwdrivers on a bucket, playing along to the songs. Then I begged my parents to buy me a drumset and finally I got a little one for my birthday. From then on I saved up my money and bought one little piece after another. In 1986 I put out my first independent record with a trash-metal band called Toximia.

How did you eventually get to know Peter Steele?

I was hanging out with Louie Beato from Carnivore, because when I was a kid I took drum lessons from Louie, he lived up the block from me. He was my idol when I was 14 and he used to take me to the Carnivore rehearsals and that’s where I first met Peter – in his basement, because that’s where they were rehearsing. I was like the little brother for them, they took me with them – it was cool. So I used to hang out with Carnivore, going to the shows, helping out … I was exposed to these guys from a very young age.

And how did you end up in Type O Negative after Carnivore disbanded?

When Carnivore broke up I asked Peter if he wanted to hang out and jam – and then it became this whole fucking craziness! We had like four different band names and then finally it was Type O Negative. The other options were New Minority, Subzero and Repulsion.

What do you remember about recording (Type O’s first album) Slow, Deep and Hard?

It was crazy. It was good. I was just happy to be playing with Pete, with a musician like him – that I was good enough to play with him. I was an angry kid too, I had a lot of issues at school and stuff, and so all that angry music and playing really hard and heavy and slow and fast it really was like therapy. It was nuts though – noone got it at first. At the live shows the audience was like „What the fuck?“ All this keyboard shit, jackhammers, chains and all the other shit. It was cool I learned a lot. We got together every week and rehearsed and did local shows … and when Roadrunner picked up our first record we did a tour with Biohazard and Exploited. That was just fucking chaos. My first fucking tour and I was like „Holy shit, this is nuts!“

Your first European tour with „Slow, Deep and Hard“ was not a pleasant one …

When we came to Europe more than half the tour was cancelled by the time we landed in Europe because everybody was afraid – venues were getting bomb threats from the left wing extremists because they didn’t get Peter’s sarcastic lyrics and thought we were racists. In Berlin it was the worst – there were flyers with Peter’s picture saying „If you see him, kill him“ … also the press was accusing us of being nazis. In one interview Josh said „But I’m Jewish“, but the interviewer was like „but there’s jewish nazis also!“ It was really absurd – I was like „Don’t you get it? It’s just music! It’s just a crazy idea from a crazy guy in Brooklyn!“

It got better with your second album, the all-time classic Bloody Kisses!

That was one of the best albums I ever played on! That was a big record. I had no idea that I’d be on an album that is almost considered Pink Floyd status in the metal world. It’s just such a fucking crazy record. During the recordings I had a feeling that as a musician I knew that it was really, really good. All the weird timing changes, the melodies and the sweet notes that were going on. We knew we were making a really good record – we didn’t know that it would bet hat big.

Nevertheless you left Type O negative after the release of „Bloody Kisses“. How did that come along?

From the time we started Type O Negative until the release of „Bloody Kisses“ – that’s about four years – we did two little stupid tours. „Slow, Deep and Hard“ didn’t sell well and it just looked like it wasn’t gonna go anywhere maybe. At the time of the release of „Bloody Kisses“ nobody knew what was gonna happen. And as I told you before, Peter didn’t want to give up his day job and we had many fights … What I regret about it is that we were immature, me and Peter. Both too proud to give in. Peter was very bossy and very demanding – he would want to dictate every little fucking thing and I had to fight it. On „Bloody Kisses“ I did all the drums on my own, I was doing what I felt. I was like „You are writing the music but I wanna do the beats that I feel complemented the music best“. We used to fight about lots of stupid stuff. When you’re young, in your twenties, and you’re doing an album, you don’t know what you’re doing. You got a big mouth, you fucking talk a lot of shit …

Did you ever regret leaving Type O Negative?

Yeah, sure! There were some times after I left that I thought „Ah man, now they decide to do all these big tours …“ The Type O albums after „Bloody Kisses“ started to sound a little bit the same, but that’s just how Peter wrote. He did what he did as an artist. But for me, „Bloody Kisses“ was the pinnacle. It had a lot to do with the chemistry at the moment, it became what it became.

Did you at any point notice that Peter had a drug problem?

Pete wasn’t doing drugs when I was in the band. That shit didn’t start until after I was gone. And I think if I was in the band, I wouldn’t have allowed it to get to him like it did. He used to be straight! All the time! He just used to drink a little bit. He used to criticise the rest of the band for smoking weed! He used to call us „hippie drug addicts“! When I heard about all that kind of crap (Peter’s drug problem) I couldn’t believe it!

When did you last see Peter?

I saw him in person in october when he did a show with Type O Negative. In February we were talking on the phone, because he wanted to do another version of Carnivore. And he had asked me to play the drums in that version of Carnivore. He wanted to play some shows in Europe now, in the summertime … so we were talking about that. Then I had to go to Europe for a couple of weeks with Life Of Agony. When I came home I got this phonecall … that he passed away. I was at the wake every day and I went to the ceremony because I knew his sisters for a very long time. The funeral procession … being at the grave, everything. The last time I actually saw him was when I touched his shoulder when he was laying there in the funeral home.

Did you think that Peter knew he could be facing death due to his previous drug abuse?

I don’t think he did expect to die. There was things going on with him but I think death did surprise him at that very moment. He was nine months sober and he was clean and he wasn’t drinking and he was really working hard to get back on his feet and back on top with Type O, Carnivore and everything … nine months really working hard and that’s when he died. That’s from all the years of abuse, things that went wrong. He had some things going on inside his head which people didn’t know. His mind was restless.

It’s been 20 years of „Life Of Agony“ – when did you first meet Keith, Alan and Joey?

I met them first in 1990 when I was in Type O Negative and they (LOA) used to open up for us. Josh (Silver, Type O Negative keyboarder) was producing their first record and they needed a drummer – so Josh brought me in to do it. When I recorded the drums for „River Runs Red“ I only had three weeks to learn the songs. Later – when I was still in Type O – I filled in some shows for Life Of Agony. Some time later I started to have differences with Type O Negative, with Peter, and so I left and went with Life Of Agony in December of ’93.

What kind of differences are you talking about?

At that Moment Life Of Agony was doing a lot of touring and Type O wasn’t. I was young and I wanted to tour, I wanted to see what it was all about. I toured with Type O before but it wasn’t enough.

Although Type O had just released „Bloody Kisses“ there was no touring planned? Why not?

Peter had a job at the NY Parks department and he didn’t want to lose his job and I found that it was kind of selfish because everyone else was willing to go and do it. That was my frustration. We had many fights about that.

When you were recording „River Runs Red“ with LOA, did you think that the album would influence so many people in the course of 16 years?

No, at that time I was just concentrated on learning the songs – I didn’t even know that I was going to be in the band. But when we went to Europe we got so many young kids in the audience and we did the Dynamo festival … it was like holy shit, this is big! So I kept on going with Life Of Agony until 1996 and then that all fell apart and I was out of the band.

How did you and the other band members grow apart over the years?

There were many tensions during the recordings of (LOA’s second album) „Ugly“. The producer (Steve Thompson) was terrible. We were paying him a lot of money and he was just laying on the couch, reading the newspaper. He wasn’t really pushing the band, he wasn’t really doing what he was paid for. There was also issues with the songwriting. There was pressure from the record company to make „River Runs Red, Part 2“. Had we maybe had a different producer, one that cared – like Josh did – and pushed the band, maybe it would have been different – maybe not.

Do you think that those tensions led to you leaving the band and Keith (Caputo, LOA singer) also leaving the band shortly after?

Yeah. Everyone was a young buck but everybody was just kids. When you’re older you know how to handle situations. We were wild so we would say shit (laughs). And then that would cause tensions.

So that’s why you left LOA in 1996 …

It wasn’t really that I left the band, they just decided that there was issues with me and it ended with a falling out basically. So I think it was mutual. A part of me was relieved but on the same time I was a little bit upset about how the thing was handled.

Keith also left a little while later – what did you think about the band’s decision to replace Keith with (former Ugly Kid Joe singer) Whitfield Crane, which was a slap in the face for many fans?

I think they were really at the end of the rope. I thought it was pathetic to try to get this other fuck in and still call it Life Of Agony.

What did you do after you left Life Of Agony?

I disappeared for along time, for like six years. Then in 2002 I started Supermassiv with Matt Brown and that was the first record I did since „Ugly“. It seemed to go pretty good but then we had issues because the singer of Supermassiv was an addict and in 2004 he died from an overdose. Just as we gained a little bit of interest from the labels. But the singer was such a fuck up, unreliable, he would lie … the things that drugs make people do. Then at the end of 2002 these guys (LOA) called me up and proposed that we do a reunion. And I said yes.

Did you have to think about it?

No. I said yeah, let’s do it! People kinda grow up … so we did two nights in Irving Plaza and it was killer. A good comeback, that’s for sure. That was an emotional couple of nights. After a European tour we did the a new record („Broken Valley“) with Epic – and they fucked up big time. They didn’t know what to do. When the record came out, nobody knew about it, there was no promotion.

And yet you are still around, touring, and everybody still wants to hear the old songs.

Yeah, I’m fucking 40 years old and still doing „River Runs Red“. I love it, but I’m also the type of person who gets restless. I need to have challenges and I need to feel like I’m creating …

So why not make a new record with LOA?

It seems like it’s very complicated as far es everyone being available and being on the same page. Everyone being into what everyone wants to do. We are all very different and we all wanna do things in four different ways. So there is no fucking time! There is no time to be a real band because of people doing other shit. People ask me all the time ”When are you gonna do a new album?“, and the answer is: I don’t know. If there’s gonna be a new record, it’s gotta be really good shit. We would have to push the musicianship beyond what we do now.

In order to channel your creativity, you just released the first CD of your new project A Pale Horse Named Death (APHND), „And Hell Will Follow Me“.

APHND is basically my baby. I play all the instruments on the record and I sing, something that’s no one known about until now. I composed it all, co-produced it with Matt Brown and that’s probably the most important record for me. This is how fucking dark my world is and what I wanna be doing. I’m just a dark person by nature and I love that kind of atmosphere. I hope that I can tour with that record and that possibly a label will release it … who knows?

You have some mentionable guest appearences on the album …

(LOA singer) Keith Caputo did harmonies with me on four songs and he did a fantastic job. When he’s inspired, he’s great! And I also had Bobby Hambell from Biohazard do three guitar solos. He also wants to be in the live band if he’s available, as well as Matt Brown (Seventh Void). And we also had an appearance from Lou Reed’s saxophone player.

How did you come up with the band name and the music?

I came up with the name in january 09. I was watching a spezial on history channel about revelations … and as we know there are the four horseman, and death rides a pale horse. So I was like ”what if the horse itself is death?“. That’s how I came up with the name. And I was so sure of the name that before I even recorded the album I had gotten the name tattoed on my neck … because at the same time this all went down my ex-wife left me, like three weeks before I toured Europe with LOA. This was so heavy and I’d got so much anger and I knew I’d got to fuel this out in a good way rather than becoming self destructive, and so I decided to do an album.

How important is it for you to succeed with APHND?

This has to succeed so I can stay in music and do what I love. I’ve been playing drums for 30 years – 30 fucking years – so I like the challenge of doing something different. If Dave Grohl can do it and all this other guys can do it and change things around, why not me? Let me try and see how it goes, see if people like the music. I care primarily about Europe first. If the record does okay in the states, great – but I really want it to do great in Europe so that I can keep coming here and playing and just be myself and expressing a whole other side of myself to people! Because I’m multi-personality-guy, I got like three, four persons in my head – there’s a song about it on the record. I consider myself an artist and I just wanna do my art – whether it’s on the drums, the guitar, in singing, screaming, painting … whatever it is.

And why is it so important for you to be primarily successful in Europe?

I think people are more into music here. They are more into supporting a band they like. When people in Europe get into a band, they get into a band. They love the band and they follow you, they scream for you. In America it’s like one week they love you, next week it’s somebody else …

SUNN O))) WILL BE 2011 ROADBURN FESTIVAL CURATORS

Legendary drone doomsters SUNN O))) will be the 2011 ROADBURN FESTIVALS curator.
FROM SUNN O))):
Roadburn has unveiled the curator for the 2011 edition of the annual festival: SUNN O))). The band, namely Greg Anderson and Stephen O'Malley, has agreed to curate the festival on Friday, April 15, 2011 and host a special event.

As curator, SUNN O))) will personally select the bands that will play during their special event as well as perform a headline show.

SUNN O))) will be Roadburn's fourth curator, following David Tibet in 2008, NEUROSIS in 2009 and TRIPTYKON's Tom Gabriel Warrior at this year's festival.

Greg Anderson and Stephen O'Malley are currently gearing up for two major SUNN O))) events in September: performing "Altar" with BORIS at ATP New York and Brooklyn's Masonic Temple, but you can expect to hear from them in the future with respect to their thoughts on the 2011 Roadburn festival and SUNN O)))'s performance.

Commented the festival organizers: "We are overjoyed to join forces with SUNN O))) for the upcoming Roadburn festival. Their metal-based drone experimentations have proved groundbreaking and hugely influential for an entire new generation of musicians practicing the art of avant-garde metal, drone, post rock and psychedelica. SUNN O))) is also widely acclaimed for their eclectic collaborations with everyone from musicians Attila Csihar, Masami Akita (MERZBOW), BORIS, Steven Stapleton, Justin Broadrick, Oren Ambarchi, ULVER, Joe Preston, John Wiese, and Julian Cope to filmmaker Jim Jarmusch and visual artist Banks Violette.

"Greg Anderson, who is also GOATSNAKE's songsmith and the entrepreneur behind Southern Lord Records, and Stephen O'Malley, a prolific improviser and composer who is well-known for being involved in BURNING WITCH, KHANATE, KTL and DACM/Gisèle Vienne theatre-works, have performed in different guises during various Roadburn festivals over the years, which is exactly why we felt they would be the ideal curators. Both of them consistently push the envelope musically, and one of our steadfast goals has been to make Roadburn a festival that explores the cutting edge while celebrating the familiar, too. With that in mind, we could think of no better spiritual guide for 2011 than SUNN O))).

"We are truly looking forward to the new ideas and visions that the crossover drone duo will bring to the festival next year.

"When asked to sum up Roadburn in one word, 'progressive' would be a fitting choice. Evolving and improving are part of this. The festival is a tribute to the open mindedness of its bands, curators and audience. The joy comes from expanding musical horizons, and with SUNN O))) acting as our curator we'll definitely be in for some artistic surprises."

Roadburn festival 2011, including SUNN O)))'s special event, will run for three days from Thursday, April 14 to Saturday, April 16 at the 013 venue and Midi Theatre in Tilburg, Holland. There will be an additional afterburner event on Sunday, April 17, 2011.

Metal Injection | » Summer Slaughter 2010 - NYC

Metal Injection | » Summer Slaughter 2010 - NYC…
FROM METAL SUCKS:
DECAPITATED guitarist Vogg chatted with MetalSucks at the NYC stop of Summer Slaughter 2010.
Have you started writing the new album at all?

I’m starting to write some riffs. I have some ideas. After this tour, I will start to write new material for real, for serious. There are too many shows and we don’t have much time to write any new songs. I think in January we go to the studio and have four months of preproduction for the new material. I have a lot of ideas right now, I just have to take all these ideas together and [turn them into] a new record. It should be ready next year for sure. The new record should be ready in 2011.

You’re a band that’s evolved its sound as time has gone on…

I know that this band will always change. Every album we did was different than the one we did before. We are always looking for something new or something else. We don’t want to be a band that wants to play the same all the time. We don’t have to. For real artists [laughs], it should be like you’re looking for something fresh all the time – to not be boring and not stay in the same place all the time. I expect more changes for the new album and the recording.

That’s what we were going to ask you.

Yeah, yeah. There will be more differences – no just fucking fast, blast double kick riffs. There will be something more. You’ll see.

PANTHEON I SEEK NEW VOCALIST/I PHONE APPLICATION

Norwegian extreme metal warriors PANTHEON I are promoting a new I PHONE application and seeking a new vocalist.
FROM PANTHEON I and EARSPLIT PR:

Norwegian extreme metallers PANTHEON I have designed and launched their own iPhone App. The app, which was designed by PANTHEON I’s guitarist Sagstad (Trollfest, Sarkom), can be downloaded free from both iTunes and the iPhone App Store simply by searching for PANTHEON I, or by going directly to iTunes at http://apps.mobbase.com/pantheoni. On it fans will find music, videos, photos, news, biography, lyrics and the complete PANTHEON I discography. Also included in the music are two virtually impossible to find songs from the band’s very first release which was available on 7” vinyl. A photo of the App can be seen below.

As well as getting involved in the latest technology, PANTHEON I recently announced that the search had begun for a new front man. This is not, however, a replacement for vocalist and guitarist Andre Kvebek, but rather the addition of an extra member to the band’s line up. Kvebek (Den Saakaldre, ex 1349) had this to say: “the band has expanded so much musically since its inception that I personally felt that we could not really do justice to the music in a live setting if I had to both sing and play guitar at the same time. It’s very limiting for vocalists who also have to play an instrument, since they cannot move as freely around the stage or communicate face to face with the audience. Don’t get me wrong, a static performance suits some bands and music very well, but it’s not what we want from our live shows. Basically we are looking for someone with an extrovert and flamboyant stage presence, who can sing both extreme and clean vocals in Norwegian and English. Experience is not as essential as the right attitude and ability, and of course whoever gets the job would have to be able to rehearse in Oslo twice a week. We’re definitely not one of those bands who only pick up their instruments when they go into the studio or on tour.” Auditions for the new vocalist will begin after PANTHEON I’s upcoming appearance at the Summer Breeze Festival in Germany on the 20th of August, and anyone interested in applying should contact the band at pantheoni@hotmail.com.

BEHEMOTH CANCELS FALL (2010) NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

Polish death metal warriors BEHEMOTH have canceled the bands previously mentioned fall North American tour with WATAIN as BEHEMOTH guitarist/vocalist Adam "Negal" Darski has fallen ill. WATAIN will take over headlining duties in BEHEMOTH's absence.
FROM BEHEMOTH MYSPACE: BEHEMOTH have been forced to drop off the Sonisphere Finland show on August 7th due to health issues. It is unclear if any more of their European festival dates will be effected by this or not. More details are expected to be released over the next few days.
The following excerpt is a statement from BEHEMOTH’s frontman and guitarist Nergal regarding his health and the canceling of upcoming tour dates. “Dear All, I’d like to announce that Behemoth won’t be able to tour for the foreseeable future. I don’t wanna bore you with details here, but I’m sick and am receiving some serious medical treatment. It’s gonna take another few weeks or more for full recovery, and so we have been forced to cancel all the Behemoth shows in August, planned dates in Russia and Baltic States for September and October, and our American tour in November. I know how much it sucks but health comes first. I can assure all of you that when we return, I’ll be stronger than death, and we’ll reschedule every tour as soon as logistics allow. I feel good and strong, my mind is focused, I've got my loving woman by my side, my band mates, friends (never thought there are so many, haha), management, agents and label people are giving me massive support. I can’t ask for more but a little patience now. The fact that we won’t be touring for the next few months doesn’t mean we’ll hibernate. Behemoth will be active on several other levels. In upcoming days you can expect the premiere of our newest video, ‘Alas, Lord Is Upon Me’ which is by far the sickest fuckin’ thing we’ve ever done! The Evangelia Heretika DVD is coming out as scheduled in November this year. Also, check out our Webstore that opens for international markets in upcoming weeks. This is it for now. Stay tuned!”
FROM WATAIN MYSPACE: "As some of you might have heard, BEHEMOTH have been forced to cancel their North American tour.

"To put an end to rumors and speculations regarding how this affects WATAIN's touring plans, know this: THERE IS NO ESCAPE, WE ARE COMING.

"Exact dates and further information will be [announced] soon."

WATAIN's fourth album, "Lawless Darkness", entered the official chart in Sweden at position No. 26 and dropped to No. 37 the following week.

"Lawless Darkness" sold around 1,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 42 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"Lawless Darkness" was released in Europe on June 7 in a limited three-panel digipack edition with die-cut and a cover of DEATH SS' "Chains of Death" as a bonus track.

"Reaping Death", the new CD single from WATAIN, which was exclusively distributed in Sweden via Sweden Rock Magazine, was certified gold in the band's home country on April 21 by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry for sales in excess of 10,000 copies. (Note: Each copy of the magazine sold in Sweden was counted towards the certification.)

WATAIN will embark on a European headlining tour in the fall. Support on the trek will come from DESTROYER 666. A U.S. run with BEHEMOTH will follow in November.
FROM BLABBERMOUTH.NET:
The "censored" version of "Alas The Lord Is Upon Me", the new video from Polish extreme metallers BEHEMOTH, can be viewed below. (The uncensored version is available at this location.) The clip was produced and directed by Dariusz Szermanowicz and Grupa 13, which previously helmed BEHEMOTH's videos for "Ov Fire And The Void" and "At The Left Hand Ov God".

Commented BEHEMOTH guitarist/vocalist Adam "Nergal" Darski: "First of all, we've overcome ourselves with this new video clip. Period. It's something we've wanted to do for a very long time. Pretty much no digital intervention, no blue boxes, no fake shit this time, but great filming, good acting, and a fuckin' awesome storyline. It's disturbing, crazy, and evil. We've had over 70 people working for us on this video so we can easily say it was the biggest production so far. We are beyond excited! Wait and see…"

The director of the video, Dariusz Szermanowicz, commented: "This time we decided to make something different. We'd like to make a video in 'cinematic' style without so many VFX like in last two videos. We found a great location, we had dozen of actors and extras and awesome stylizing. 16 hours of hard work resulted with best video we've ever made!"

As previously reported, Darski was rushed to the Gdansk Medical University Hospital over the weekend to receive treatment for an undisclosed illness. Jaroslaw Burdek, manager of Darski's girlfriend, 26-year-old Polish pop singer Doda (real name: Dorota Rabczewska), reportedly told the Polish media that Nergal had been ill for several days.

It was reported by Se.pl that Darski was taken to the hematology division of the Gdansk Medical University Hospital, although this has not yet been officially confirmed.

Hematology, also spelled haematology, is the branch of internal medicine, physiology, pathology, clinical laboratory work, and pediatrics that is concerned with the study of blood, the blood-forming organs, and blood diseases.

As a result of Nergal's illness, all of the band's previously announced shows — including those in Russia and the Baltic states in September/October and the U.S. tour with WATAIN in November — have been cancelled.

Nergal has since released a statement in which he revealed that the "multi-stage treatment" for his condition can take up to "several months" to complete.

BEHEMOTH will release its second DVD, "Evangelia Heretika", this fall. More details, such as the DVD content, video clips, and pre-order information, will be made available in the coming weeks.

"Evangelia Heretika" will be released in the U.S. via Metal Blade Records, in Europe through Nuclear Blast Records, and in Poland via Mystic Records.
