CEREBRAL BORE: EXPLAINS NYC POST TOUR ARREST

Scottish death metal warriors and EARACHE recording artists Paul McGuire and Kyle Rutherford of CEREBRAL BORE talk about their experience with the NYPD on "the last day" of their USA tour 2011. Paul McGuire and Kyle Rutherford were arrested in Brooklyn, NYC as t he charges were Burglary, Possession of stolen goods, Breaking an entry, Petty larceny. McGuire and Rutherford stated they were falsely arrested in a man hunt for someone who killed a number of people in a New York pharmacy robbery.
The charges against McGuire and Rutherford were later dropped as the drug store killer was found.

Two members of Scottish death metal act Cerebral Bore were mistakenly arrested in New York City recently amidst the hunt for a man who murdered a number of people at a drug store.

The band had been out celebrating the end of a tour when guitarist Paul McGuire and bassist Kyle Rutherford went to a drug store in the early morning hours. Although the store's doors were open and the lights were on, it appeared that it was not officially open for business as an alarm went off, so the band members left and went to another store down the road. As they were leaving, a number of NYPD squad cars surrounded them and they were thrown to the ground by police officers and arrested at gunpoint. The two were charged with criminal trespass, petit larceny, burglary and criminal possession of stolen property.

The pair spent the next 36 hours being moved between crowded jail cells and witnessing violence and intimidation from the other inmates. The real drug store killer was later arrested and, following a court appearance, all charges were dropped and the members of Cerebral Bore were eventually released.
CEREBRAL BORE BIO (FROM EARACHE RECORDS): Cerebral Bore are an extreme Death Metal band based in Glasgow, Scotland. The band recorded the debut demo "The Dead Flesh Architect" in November 2006, and made their first impression on the UK scene in July 2007, at the Blastonbury Festival in support of Anal cunt.

Staying true to their early ambitions of taking their music as far and wide as they could, in August 2007 the band were booked to play in New York City, USA after having a song played on metal radio in NY. On their first trip outside Britain, they shared the stage with bands like Mortician, Deceased and Criminal Element in the Mean Fiddler in Manhattan New York, where they were avidly watched by non other than Type O Negative frontman, Pete Steele (RIP).

They continued playing shows throughout the UK, supporting bands like Origin, Napalm Death, the Black Dahlia Murder, Brutal Truth and many more. In early 2008 the band were offered the chance to play at Central Illinois metal fest in the USA, and decided to go ahead and book a 2nd American tour which saw them spend 6 weeks on the road, touring from Las Vegas, Nevada all the way to the opposite coast of New York . The tour was booked DIY style without a booking agent. During their second USA stint CEREBRAL BORE played in support of some of the biggest bands in the genre, including Origin, Suffocation, Brutal truth, & Devourment to name a few.

Word spread and fans around the world began to demand to see CEREBRAL BORE's brand of extreme Death Metal, and so by 2009 the band had performed all over Europe in countries including Greece, Finland, Russia, France, Portugal, Germany, Italy and Switzerland, as well as numerous UK tours supporting bands like Putrid Pile etc.

Throughout the bands first couple of years of hard work, they found it hard to pin down a vocalist who was suited to the job, until recruiting 18 year old Dutch native Simone "Som" Pluijmers in 2010.

With Som on board the band entered Foel Studios to record their debut album 'Maniacal Miscreation' under the production helm of Chris Fielding (Napalm Death, Electric Wizard) which was self-released in a limited edition of 500 copies and sold on tour. Summer 2010 saw more European touring with Devourment. Aswell as multiple open air festival appearances in Germany, Czech republic and Switzerland, followed by a landmark show in Tel Aviv, Israel.

In December 2010 CEREBRAL BORE signed with Earache Records and set the worldwide release of 'Maniacal Miscreation' for April 2011 (May in USA). In March 2011 the band will headline the “Sonic obliteration fest” in London, followed by massive touring stints all over the globe to support the release, including festivals in India and a 3rd USA trek - this time as headliner- planned for this summer."
