INFERNO FEST 2014, set to take place 4/16/2014 OSLO, NORWAY have confirmed guest speaker Dr. Vivek Venkatesh and Norwegian blackened Pagan metal warriors KAMPFAR.                                           INFERNO FEST 2014 will take place in the multiple venues as promoters have also confirmed Japanese Avant Garde/ black metal warriors SIGH, DIMMU BORGIR, BLACK WITCHERY, IMPIETY and TULUS.

Pride, Prejudice and Shame Wrapped in Blasphemy:
The Many Facets of Black Metal Fandom.

In this presentation, Dr. Vivek Venkatesh will talk about the results of several years of collaborative, interdisciplinary research on the distinct ways in which the identities of members of the global black metal scene are developed and propagated. The presentation will draw on a range of interviews with fans, musicians, journalists and record store owners, as well as observations at concerts and festivals in Canada, United States, Puerto Rico, Norway, Sweden, Japan, China and Uruguay. Vivek will provide a description of how black metal scene members have created a unique identity which values the individual over the group, flirts with xenophobia, engages in discourse around current political structures, thrives on blasphemy and rejects the more communal aspects of other forms of extreme metal such as death metal or thrash metal. Vivek's collaborators on this project include University of Alberta's Dr. Jason Wallin and Franklin & Marshall College's Dr. Jeffrey Podoshen.

Norwegian band KAMPFAR is ready for INFERNO METAL FESTIVAL 2014 at John DEE during Indie Recordings Label Night. The band has a new album coming in 2014 called "Djevelmakt". KAMPFAR also celebrates their 20-year career in 2014 and we look forward to hearing from timeless classic albums like "Mellom skogkledde aaser", "Fra underverdenen" and "kvass". Fill your horn with mead and join the party when KAMPFAR release all hell during INFERNO METAL FESTIVAL 2014!

2014 marks Kampfar's 20th anniversary and at the same time they are ready with a new album and concert at Inferno Metal Festival 2014. The band was founded from the ashes of the black metal band Mock when it ended in 1994. With more folk-inspired melodies and lyrics about Norse mythology Kampfar found their own sound in the Norwegian black metal scene. "Djevelmakt" is the band's sixth album and shows that they are more vital than ever – something they will prove at the Inferno Metal Festival 2014. Kampfar plays the club day at John DEE and is a part of Indie Recordings Label Night.
