MACHINE HEAD: ROBB FLYNN POSTS ABOUT AUSCHWITZ

ROBB FLYNN, voclaist/guitarist of Bay Area, California thrash metal warriors MACHINE HEAD has posted this tour journal entry about a visit to AUSCHWITZ Muzeum, the site of the defunct German occupied concentration camp .

AUSCHWITZ
It's 6:45 AM, just got thru visiting the Auschwitz / Birkenau Muzeum. First time I've been since 2001, when we stopped by after the Krakow Poland show on the Supercharger tour. Couldn't get in today as they don't open up until 8AM and it's still a ways to the next gig in Krakow tonight.

It's a sobering place.
As I got off the bus to take these pictures a 6AM church bell began to toll somewhere... off in the distance a train went by... the same train tracks that brought people to the concentration camp back in 1940 is still in operation... fog lay low on the ground...
My skin crawled...
You don't really have reminders of our faults in America, and we've committed our share. A museum that is a solely dedicated reminder to an atrocity, like say, what we did to the Native Americans? It's fascinating to me that have them here in Poland (and Germany).
It's a good thing.
Maybe we should... to remind us that we need to better ourselves... rather than constantly telling ourselves how magnanimous we are...
