FROM ALEX SKOLNICK (TESTAMENT): :

Now THAT was epic…
It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve heard @Metallica songs (as most of us have for decades now)- this new show is a fresh, new experience; a work of art. At this point, these guys could just be relaxing, enjoying the (very) good life but instead they’ve become one of the hardest working acts, period. Trust me, you’ve never experienced a concert like this.
Watching from the floor, sometimes they’re super close, like a club show. Then, there they are half-way across the field. Then they’re back (or just one or two are). Yet anywhere you watch, it hits just as hard, thanks to the “water tower” big screens and unreal lights. It says a lot that on the first of the “no repeat weekend” shows - a set that included, “Creeping Death,” “Orion,” “Seek & Destroy,” “Fade to Black,” Master of you-know-what and so much more, it felt nothing was missing, despite no “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” “One” “Enter Sandman” (all no doubt saved for Sunday).
Other observations: @panteraofficial totally works as a stadium band. @wolfvanhalen crushing it on the bill, supporting this band that once supported VH on a stadium tour, back when they were the “new kids,” is a beautiful example of “full circle.”
About the pics: In the spirit of “Sir, you’re no Jack Kennedy,” I’m no @rosshalfin. But for just an iPhone (14pro), it’s not bad, if I may say (next time someone’s getting hit for a photo pass so I can bring one of my Leicas).
In a crowd like this, it’s easy to miss a lot of friends (I keep seeing posts from folks that were there - I had no idea!). but I saw a few and made some new ones. Oh (ran out of characters on Instagram…couldn’t share) - one friend I did manage to meet up with, one Charles Billy (in town for our friend & music biz legend Maria Ferrero’s Bday, happy Bday Maria!), he’s kind of hard to miss. Also thanks again to my recent out-of-borough concert going buddy, filmmaker Adam Dubin, for another great hang & adventure.
There are very few acts that are genuine giants these days. It takes giants to create a demonstration this big - 80,000 mf’s and not an empty seat in the house - to remind all naysayers how important live music still is. The symbolism of this venue being the home of @nygiants (and of course, MetLife) is not lost.
Thanks to these guys for keeping it going, moving it forward and inspiring all of us. I’m sure I don’t need to tell most of my followers (many of whom I imagine already have their tix) but when they come around…don’t miss!
