May be an image of 1 person

Brazilian depressive black metal warriors THY LIGHT are currently in the studio working on a new release.

THY LIGHT have posted the bands anticipated, self titled new EP release,  unleashed 6/6/2021 via TALHEIM RECORDS.

FROM THY LIGHT:

It is time to suffer again. I've just started tracking the vocals for Thy Light's next album, which I will hopefully finish recording in 2025 and release in 202...
There is nothing in music that I hate more than doing vocals, be it live or on studio, but what needs to be done needs to be done.

Polish black metal warriors PATRIARKH have posted a live video for "WIERSZALIN VIII" , a track from the bands anticipated new release "ПРОРОК ИЛИЯ", due to be unleashed 1/3/2025 via NAPALM RECORDS

PATRIARKH have announced WINTER/SPRING 2025 POLISH TOUR DATES..

PATRIARKH have posted a video for "WIERSZALIN III", a track from the bands anticipated new release "ПРОРОК ИЛИЯ", due to be unleashed 1/3/2025 via NAPALM RECORDS.

Polish black metal warriors BATUSHKA have changed their band name to PATRIARKH.

A polish court ruled that Krzysztof "Derph" Drabikowski owns the band name BATUSHKA after he founded the bands in 2015. The lawsuit over BATUSKA'S name will be appealed by former member Bartłomiej "Bart" Krysiuk.

Drabikowski and Krysiuk split in 2018 as Krysiuk signed to METAL BLADE RECORDS (and now NAPALM RECORDS) under the BATUSHKA name.

Drabikowski unleashed "Панихида" in 2019 as Батюшка

Krysiuk carried on as BATUSHKA and unleashed unleashed "HOSPODI (Господи)",  7/12/2019 via METAL BLADE RECORDS.

FROM NAPALM RECORDS:

Polish Black Metal Force PATRIARKH, Formerly Batushka, Release Third Single “ВЕРШАЛИН VII”
⚫ New Album, ПРОРОК ИЛИЯ, Out Tomorrow, January 3, 2025 via Napalm Records!
⚫ Listen to "ВЕРШАЛИН VII" and order your copy here: lnk.to/PATRIARKH-PROPHET-ILJA
Just in time for the release of their highly anticipated upcoming album, ПРОРОК ИЛИЯ (Lat. PROROK ILJA), Polish black metal icons PATRIARKH (formerly Batushka) unleash their third gloomy single, “ВЕРШАЛИН VII” (Lat. WIERSZALIN VII). The conceptual full length, ПРОРОК ИЛИЯ (Lat. PROROK ILJA), drops tomorrow on January 3, 2025 via Napalm Records! The eight brand-new songs delve into the true story of Eliasz Klimowicz, the enigmatic Prophet Ilja, and transforms these events into dark yet mesmerizing atmospheres, interwoven with their deeply rooted Eastern Orthodox traditions.
“ВЕРШАЛИН VII” (Lat. WIERSZALIN VII) attacks mercilessly and sets free a relentless storm of black and death metal. The song kicks off with a compelling narration, before it drags listeners into a path of fierce blast beats and haunting screams. Once more, PATRIARKH nails their balance of various influences, defying all rules and setting their own path. “ВЕРШАЛИН VII” is now available on all streaming services worldwide.
PATRIARKH on the new album:
“With this new release, we are starting a new chapter in our history - not only is our name changing, but our music is also undergoing a natural evolution. The story on the album encouraged us to get out of our comfort zone, and we reached for means that we had not used before in our music. Many of you will wonder if this is still black metal? Or is it even metal? Radio play, audiobook, theater, film soundtrack, folk music, performance... All these terms will fit here. Some will hate, others will love...”

ITP V.025 UPDATE: SICK, TAKING THE REST OF THE DAY OFF FROM BLOGGING

ITP V.025
ITP V.025 UPDATE: SICK, TAKING THE REST OF THE DAY OFF FROM BLOGGING.

The NEW YEAR brought in a cold bug, as I'm not feeling well. I'll try to get in the minimum of three journal entries a day while I'm sick,  as I'll be posting less until I feel better.

MIKKEY DEE, drummer of German rock legends SCORPIONS is battling sepsis and is expected to make a full recovery. .

FROM MIKKEY DEE:

Just a quick statement about what has been happening to me these past three weeks:
First I like to thank everyone for these heartwarming Christmas and New Years greetings, that I have not been able to respond to. I always try to do that every year.
This holiday season, I have been hospitalized with a very serious blood infection (Sepsis). I was admitted for three weeks but now I am home fighting this bastard bacteria. Thankfully, I have received fantastic
care at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, my hometown. So thanks a million to all the Doctors and Nurses that have been giving me the most excellent care. After several operations, I am now back home and the numbers are all going in the right direction. Still lots of recovery and rehab in front of me.
Now I’m working a 100% to be back on the drum stool for the Residency that starts off in Las Vegas on February 27. We have a tremendous 2025 to look forward to, celebrating 60 years of Scorpions and many exciting giggs around the world.
So, the Stinger is out and I can’t wait to see you all out there on the road and rock the hell out of you! I wish everybody a fantastic 2025 with good health and lots of Rock n’ Roll!
Mikkey

MATT HEAFY (TRIVIUM): "You’ve heard me recently talk about how I “unlocked” my “old voice.” It’s true. I’ve been singing / screaming in trivium since I was 12.5 years old - since 1999. MATT HEAFY vocalist for  Orlando, Florida, U.S.A. thrash, heavy metal warriors TRIVIUM has posted on the progression of his vocal technique.

TRIVIUM have announced NORTH AMERICAN  TOUR DATES WITH BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE and SYLOSIS.

TRIVIUM unleashed "IN THE COURT OF THE DRAGON", 10/8/2021 via ROADRUNNER RECORDS.

FROM  MATT HEAFY (TRIVIUM): :

You’ve heard me recently talk about how I “unlocked” my “old voice.”
It’s true.
I’ve been singing / screaming in trivium since I was 12.5 years old - since 1999.
I was placed on vocals then because we couldn’t find anyone else. I never really understood how to do it; I just kept experimenting till I created the sounds that were me.
What’s amazing, after the last decade of proper training/ conditioning/ and insulating/ protecting my voice - I feel like that was the rebuilding and upgrading of my singing and screaming. I’ve been testing the “album” or “old” style of vocals anywhere from 5-7 days a week, 1-4 hours a day with ZERO issue.
Band rehearsals, full preproduction (which we’ve already done with our crew), streaming, testing the studio gear.
I can’t wait to see the crowds feed off the energy. It’s going to be something special.
Back in the day - I’d let it rip on the intensity, but I’d lose it eventually from wear. That doesn’t happen anymore.

Whether I’m feeling good, bad, or ugly - I have my techniques, my conditioning, and my supplements; the latter is simple: my @1shotenergy vocal drops. Use c o d e MKH on all things 1 shot. #1shotenergypartner

ITP V.025 ONLY ONE PER COFFIN: R.I.P. JOSHUA WARD (DRUMMER VORAATH)

 No photo description available.

JOSHUA WARD, drummer for Asheville, North Carolina death metal warriors VORAATH died 12/31/2024 as he was killed by a drunk driver.

JOSHUA WARD was also the drum tech for NILE and TERRORIZER.

VORAATH unleashed "VOL 1" THE HYMN OF THE HUNTERS", 6/17/2024 via EXITUS STRATAGEM RECORDS.

FROM SICK DRUMMER:

Woke up to hear the horrible news about the passing of our dear friend drummer Joshua Nassaru Ward of Voraath Our deepest condolences go to his family, friends, and band mates. Josh was killed by a drunk driver in an accident last night. A good drummer and really good person. Josh will also be missed by his community who he helped by delivering goods and services to people stranded in remote areas after the recent floods. He looked out for everyone . R.I.P.
If you can, please go to his page and donate to his families go fund me.

FROM THE RETICENT:

Rest in peace to our brother Joshua Ward. Josh was the mastermind behind Voraath of which our bassist Paul was a founding member and Chris had just joined. Josh and us had been friends a long time, he was even going to be a fill in drummer for us at one time. Everyone in The Reticent loved and admired Josh and his amazing talent. This world is most unfair.

FROM BRIAN KINGSLAND (NILE):

Like everyone else, the proper words elude me.
This could've happened to any of us.
I didn't know Audrey, Jade or his fiance, Zelena, but my heart is heavy for their friends and families.
Joshua Nassaru Ward I always thought you were one of the most gifted humans I'd ever met. Not just musically, but as a martial arts philosopher, a visionary, your physical stature, it's all been inspirational. You helped inspire me to start lifting.
I can recall waking up early on tour with Enthean to find you in your underwear kicking a pine tree like Van Damme. It was your lifestyle, and I've yet to meet anyone as devout.
It's different losing an ex-band member. The bonds we forge onstage are unique and intangible. I've always known that, but this really hits home.
Truthfully, when Enthean was disbanding, you were the only person that came forth and told me the truth.
I am forever in debt to you for your honesty, as it liberated me, and said a lot about your character as a man. I told you that frequently, but I owe you more than a Facebook post. So, undoubtedly, music will be written in your honor. I feel you'd do the same.
In hindsight, I wish we would've worked on more music together. We'd spoke of rerecording some unreleased Enthean tunes. I wish I'd reached out more.
But, we drifted apart, as ex-band members tend to do. I always considered you a friend, and a true prevaier of the extreme.
You were plagued with hardship. My god you struggled for so long. I'm glad that you finally found some peace in your life with your fiance, Zelena. I'd like to think that you died happy. Which is all any of us can ask....
R.I.P. Brother

FROM NEVALRA:

Heavy hearted news to begin the new year 💔
Our brother Joshua Nassaru Ward passed last night.
A true and honest friend; his laughter, kindness & blast-beats will forever ignite our torches.
Josh was a modern day warrior.
We will miss him deeply.
Thanks-Stay Metal, Stay Brutal-R.I.P. 🕯️

EXHUMED: "Since the album is now over two years old, we’ve spent the fall and winter sequestered in our respective studios working on new material for the next album, which we’re planning on recording during the first half of 2025. We’ll be back with more musick, more shows and of course, more gore in 2025! Smell ya next year! Cheers!!"

May be an image of text

San Jose, California, U.S.A. based death, gore grind metal warriors EXHUMED are set to record a new album in 2025.

EXHUMED unleashed  "RO THE DEAD", 10/21/2022 via RELAPSE RECORDS.

FROM EXHUMED:

As we commend another year to the casket, we’d like to thank everyone who has supported the band through 2024 - whether you came to a show, watched the documentary, bought merch from our webstore, or just gave us a listen on the corporate-sponsored streaming service of your choice. Without your support, we wouldn’t be able to continue cranking out our cadaverous cacophonies, so cheers, from the bottom of our rotted hearts!
2024 was a year of mostly looking back for the band as we delved deep into our bilious back catalog of corrupted classicks and reissued Slaughtercult, Anatomy is Destiny and our In the Name of Gore split record with Hemdale on vinyl with the help of @relapserecords and @hellsheadbangers , and @decibelmagazine inducted our disgusting debut Gore Metal into its “Hall of Fame” series. In that spirit, we teamed up with our journalist buds @axmitt (Avinash Mittur) and @fathomingheavy (Andrew Corson) to help untangle the myriad branches of our family tree and commit the band’s heinous history to record in our Decayed Decades ROT-umentary, which was released on YouTube, DVD, and VHS. And of course, we undertook a US tour in support of the release with an all-old-school set and support from @skeletalremainsofficial and @morbikon
After that, we were pretty much ready to call it a year, as we had already toured extensively throughout the US, Japan and Australia in support of our last platter or splatter, “To the Dead” throughout 2023, but we managed to emerge from our crypt for a few shows including our first trip to the aloha state at @volcanicstrikehawaii and 3 epic gigs supporting @highonfireband around Halloween, which was a great time and an excellent way to cap off the “To the Dead” tour cycle, bringing our suppurated sound to a mostly new, and potentially unsuspecting audience. Since the album is now over two years old, we’ve spent the fall and winter sequestered in our respective studios working on new material for the next album, which we’re planning on recording during the first half of 2025.
We’ll be back with more musick, more shows and of course, more gore in 2025! Smell ya next year!
Cheers!!

ITP V.025 ONLY ONE PER COFFIN: R.I.P. SEAN BLOSL (FORMER SANCTUARY GUITARIST)

May be an image of 1 person and guitar

Seattle, Washington, USA power metal warriors SANCTUARY have announced former guitarist SEAN BLOSL died at 58, early last year, in a car accident.

SANTUARY unleashed "THE YEAR THE SUN DIED",  9/24/2014 via AVALON.

FROM SANCTUARY: :

It is with a very heavy heart that I have to announce that Sean Blosl passed away earlier this year. He was involved in a vehicle related accident in Seattle. I have struggled with posting about this news. I am not a fan of the social media death announcements, but I realize that even though I think this is a private family matter, Sean was also a very important part of the Seattle music scene.
Sean was my cousin, but to us we were much more like my brothers. We had a musical dream when we were kids that became a reality. Without Sean by my side I don’t know if I would have had the opportunity to make this musical journey. It is very difficult to sum up a lifetime of love, memories and experiences but I will always remember Sean as an inspiration and a teacher.
RIP Brother. I will see you on the other side.

JEFF LOOMIS (NEVERMORE): POSTS OPEN LETTER FROM VAN AND JEFF, HOLDING VOCALIST AUDITIONS FOR NEVERMORE

May be an image of 3 people

Guitarist JEFF LOOMIS and drummer VAN WILLIAMS have posted an open letter about the return of Seattle, Washington, U.S.A. progressive metal warriors. NEVERMORE.

NEVERMORE last unleashed  "The Obsidian Conspiracy" 6/8/2010 (NORTH AMERICA) and 5/31/2010 (EUROPE) via CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS.

NEVERMORE broke up in 2011.

NEVERMORE vocalist WARREL DANE died 12/13/2017 .of a heart attack.

FROM JEFF LOOMIS:

An open letter from Van and Jeff:
So, the NEVERMORE teaser has sparked a lot of positivity and some expected negativity. Let me (Van) address the negative first. Some people think it’s disrespectful not to involve Jim or inform him of our plans. But those who feel that way don’t know the history of the band or the behind-the-scenes dynamics that led to this decision. While it may not have been the most ideal approach, the reality is that there hasn’t been communication with Jim in years.
We felt that sometimes, for the sake of a fresh start, it’s necessary to move on from relationships that may no longer be conducive to growth or new beginnings. We made this decision with the intention of honoring the legacy of the band while moving forward in a way that felt right for us at the time. That said, we wish him good health and he is free to pursue whatever path he chooses. Without going into too much detail, I’ll just say respect goes both ways, and certain things became irreconcilable over time for us. At this point in my life, I don’t feel the need to explain myself further on this, so take from that what you will.
As for why I’m revisiting NEVERMORE, it’s simple, this band has always been my dream. To find a group of guys to be in a band with and travel the world and create music. After auditioning to the moment I was asked to join, it was a whirlwind of music, art, creativity, adventure, fun and camaraderie. Over the years, we made incredible music and amazing memories together. But as time went on, things spiraled out of control..trust, respect, and the joy of it all started to disappear. I always compare it to an analogy like having a cake and eating it too, but in our case, it turned into having a cake covered in shit frosting…You wanna eat it but it’s covered in shit!.. The final breaking point came during the last leg of our European tour with Symphony X, after which it was clear we couldn’t continue as we were. After years of us building the best band we could for ourselves we couldn’t get on the same page to fix it. Jeff and I went one way; Warrel and Jim went another. There was no reconciliation. Warrel went to Brazil, Jim retired to Alaska, and years passed without contact.
During this time, my personal life took a devastating turn when my wife was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. We did everything to create a sense of normalcy for our little boy and we did our best to make her comfortable. Warrel would occasionally call from Brazil, and while we exchanged kind words during those calls, it didn’t erase the past and I can tell that certain things haven’t changed. Dore passed on in 2020, and her loss crushed me and my boy, we feel that loss still to this day. I personally feel like I am just starting to come out of a coma truth be told and thank God I’m finally seeing the light and grateful for who and what I still have in my life. I’ll never be able to express the gratitude I feel for my family, close friends, and fans who helped me and my family through all the dark days. Thank you all so very much for helping me get through the toughest times.
Through it all, Jeff remained one of my strongest supporters, and our bond deepened. Over time, we both missed the joy of creating and performing together. NEVERMORE was a huge part of that joy, something I’m tremendously proud of.
For those calling this a “money grab,” I have to disagree. Most musicians, don’t do this for the money. We’ve spent countless hours thru the years sweating, rehearsing, performing, and recording simply because we love it. This is what we chose to do in life because we’ve always loved it. That’s what drives us, the passion for music, the connection with fans, and the creative process. If money comes from that, great but it has never been the focus, but we also have bills to pay like you.
So here we are, Jeff and I want to honor NEVERMORE’s legacy by finding musicians who can respect what Warrel and Jim brought to the band while helping us build a new chapter. And this isn’t about replacing Warrel, no one can. But it’s about finding someone who can honor his work while contributing something new. We want to give fans a chance to come together, celebrate the music, and sing those incredible lyrics again. And, hopefully, we can create new music that stands alongside the classics.
I wish the situation with Jim were different, but the past has brought us here. I am personally focusing on positivity and positive people and will refuse to get tangled in the negativity of the past. If Jeff and I can find the right vocalist and bassist—musicians who respect the legacy and want to move forward with us—then this new chapter can be something truly special for all who choose to come along with us. This isn’t going to be a cover band, or a tribute band, it’s going to be the next evolution/chapter of a band determined to pick up the flag and carry on this thing we call NEVERMORE.
I look forward to seeing you all again.
—VW
Jeff Loomis writes,
I couldn't agree more with Van's statement. There have obviously been a lot of ups and downs with Nevermore's past history. I'd like to just remember the good ones, while carrying the torch with Van to yet another level of the band.
My heart has always been in it for the music, touring and performing. I've had some great times playing with other musicians these past 10-11 years, but Nevermore has and will always be my personal portal to some of the best music I've ever done and created.
No one can replace Warrel Dane. Bottom line. With his interesting melodies and charisma onstage, he was a force that was a huge part of the band both lyrically and spiritually. With that being said, we aren't looking for a Warrel Dane clone.
We are looking for someone that can carry the older Nevermore tunes in his vocal style, and someone who can add something new and refreshing to the next chapter of the band. Obviously, this won't be the easiest thing to do.
With all this being said, we are going on a WORLD SEARCH seeking two extraordinary musicians. One main lead vocalist, and one bass player to join the fold and help carry our legacy forward. We have since filled the position of a second guitarist, but more on that a bit later in another update!
Vocalist auditions:
Nevermore is known for its intense emotional resonance, and obviously this came through Warrel's unique vocal dynamics. We're looking for a vocalist who can deliver a wide range of tones and emotions with mastery and authenticity.
Dynamic Range: Capable of singing high notes and resonant lows, blending power and vulnerability as the song demands.
Expressive Depth: Beyond technical skill, we're looking for someone who can incorporate the raw emotion and haunting themes that define Nevermore's music.
Stage Presence: We need someone who works well with an audience and embodies the intensity of the music in a live setting.
Bassist Audition:
We're looking for a rock-solid player who understands how to create depth and drive in Nevermore's arrangements. Precision, groove, and the ability to lock in tight with Van is a huge plus. If you can contribute backing
Vocals, that would be great as well. Someone that can keep the rhythm section tight is all we ask.
What we are looking for in both roles:
Positive attitude...We want individuals who bring good energy to the band dynamic.
We're seeking people who can maintain focus, professionalism, and respect for the music. Someone who is reliable, prepared and has a strong work ethic.
You must be open to extensive worldwide touring with an active and current passport. A willingness to work together creatively, support each other, and represent Nevermore with Integrity on and off the stage.
How to Audition:
Singers: Submit a video of yourself singing the song "Born" and "Sentient 6" from the This Godless Endeavor Album. Please feel free to sing as much of the song as you want. If you choose not to do the whole song,
Please at least sing a full verse and chorus of each song. Please also include a brief introduction about your background, influences, and what you can bring to the band. We encourage you to demonstrate everything to the best of your potential.
Bassists: Should please play the songs "Enemies of Reality" and "Inside Four Walls" while standing up focusing on tightness, technique and feel.
Send us a PRIVATE YouTube link to your auditions to: officialnevermoreinfo@gmail.com
Along with Van, I'm very excited to see and hear from you. Thank you again to the fans all around the world for your kindness and support. Here's to an incredible 2025!
