FROM SEPSISS:

Losing TikTok and the (temporary) pause on byte dance apps, and TikTok should be a major wake up call for musicians and digital creators.
We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again. We all have been relying and depending on apps , social media and TikTok style tools and technology to authentic us, cut corners hack undeveloped skills.
The same thing that happened on TikTok can happen on Facebook or Spotify. These apps have encouraged a generation of people to believe that music is man made. A generation that believes that music comes from devices from computer computers that music is born and lives inside the Internet. Same could be said for many relationships.
For 35 years, we have been entering data stored on these machines, training and teaching machine learning how to steal from us.
How to mimic us how to mock and divide us. We have taught the machines how to categorize and catalog our greed and criminal private personalities.
They’ve taught us all how to troll, lol cow, bully and obsess over metrics and numbers we can never confirm.
Losing TikTok should be a major wake up call for musicians seeking longevity. Maybe it’s time we don’t depend on developers or apps so emotionally. Maybe it’s time for us to consider these apps are not valuable enough to keep turning on each other.
Every picture of your children, every song every recipe and photo album is locked into their catalog and sold back to you at a price that betrays your neighbor.
Losing TikTok even if for very briefly is a wake up call for the very rare few people who have the guts and intellectual honesty to admit we are all being played. #tiktok #tiktokban #socialmedia
