FROM ORCHID THRONE:
When the clock strikes midnight, I finally unveil me. No longer hiding beneath the dark, I will emerge at last. This has been quite an emotional ride for me, from
laying down vocals and hearing my voice saying these words I penned in low, personal, moments to putting myself out there in musical form. This was so much work and I learned so much. I have never in my life really shared my own art, only my contributions to broader projects.
This feels incredibly special. I hope you feel the honesty, the sincerity I poured into this album. Vulnerability is terrifying and it is my hope that this album does something for you. Whether that’s some form of catharsis or a shoulder to lean on in bad times, I just feel the power of art is unmatched in this world and I only want to express myself and see if it adds light to our darkening experience.
Well, I will stop babbling, I hope you enjoy Buried in Black when it drops at MIDNIGHT or Jan 9th.
I leave you with another fine quote from an excellent review today…
“What truly sets “Buried In Black” apart, though, is its emotional maturity. This is no doom as aesthetic; it’s no doom as a release of anger and frustration in exchange for a righteous sound. It’s no doom at all—instead, it’s a personal statement. It’s a nod to Bonsanto’s large role in his musical career in the sense that it holds absolutely no ego in it.
This was heavy, this was emotional, this was fashionable. Orchid Throne was without a doubt the band that taught doom metal how to feel, rather than how to sound, without looking like a braggart in the process.” - Evermetal
