PETE "COMMANDO" SANDOVAL: ASKED QUESTION BY FAN : WHAT MATTERS MORE TO YOU, PLAYING DRUMS OR SAVING ANIMALS?

Former MORBID ANGEL and TERRORIZER drummer PETE "COMMANDO" SANDOVAL was asked by a fan what matters more to you, playing the drums or saving animals.

FROM PETE "COMMANDO" SANDOVAL:

Someone came with this question

What matters more to you: doing what you do best? playing drums of course or spending your time trying to save animals in a world that’s already fucked?

My answer

As much as I love playing drums, saving animals is more important to me. And just to be clear, I’m in shape and I can still play any of the songs I want to play. I’m not retiring. I’m taking a break.

If I had to quit drumming completely to dedicate my life to saving even one innocent animal, I would do it. Fortunately, my wife and I have found a way to keep everything going. I’ve been able to play, tour and do my work while she takes care of a lot of things at home.

But we have bigger plans for our small animal shelter. We want to turn it into a place where we can foster and help more animals, and that requires my presence too. I’m 62 now, and it’s time for me to dedicate more time to making those plans real and saving lives.

That doesn’t mean I don’t love playing drums anymore. I do, and I’ll keep playing. But if you’re asking me which one matters more, saving innocent animals comes first.
