This research is being conducted by Amber R. Clifford, Ph.D., a faculty member of University of Central Missouri. This research is part of a long-term project on gender and heavy metal music. This project has been approved by the IRB of University of Central Missouri.
Purpose of the Study:
The goal of this study is to gather information about gender, sexuality, and sexual orientation among fans of heavy metal music. The research is aimed at formulating a better understanding of issues of gender among heavy metal fans, as well as examining the masculinity that heavy metal engenders. Objectives include identifying the lives of GLBTTQQIA+ heavy metal fans within heavy metal spaces.
Description of Research Method:
This study involves completing a short survey. The survey will ask you demographical questions such as: sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, country of origin, and age. The questions following are multiple choice survey questions and open ended questions regarding life as a queer fan of heavy metal music. This study will take about 20 minutes to finish. All results are anonymous and confidential, unless you select to consent to an interview at the end of the survey. Results will become property of the researcher.
Privacy:
All of the information collected will be anonymous. We will not record your name, or any information that could be used to identify you, unless you consent to an interview at the end of the survey. If you feel your privacy is at risk, please feel free to exit the survey now.
Explanation of Risks:
The risks associated with participating in this study are similar to the risks of everyday life.

You are invited to participate in a study on gender identity and sexual orientation among fans of heavy metal music. If you decide not to participate, you will not be penalized in any way. If you wish to do this, you can simply exit the survey and your answers will not be submitted. Once you turn in the survey materials, there will be no identifying information on your answers or subsequent results.

******* Long running LA, California U.S. experimental metal heroes ISIS have officially disbanded, retiring the band. FROM ISIS MYSPACE: ISIS has reached an end. It's hard to try to say it in any delicate way, and it is a truth that is best spoken plainly. This end isn't something that occurred over night and it hasn't been brought about by a single cataclysmic fracture in the band. Simply put, ISIS has done everything we wanted to do, said everything we wanted to say. In the interest of preserving the love we have of this band, for each other, for the music made and for all the people who have continually supported us, it is time to bring it to a close. We've seen too many bands push past the point of a dignified death and we all promised one another early on in the life of the band that we would do our best to ensure ISIS would never fall victim to that syndrome. We've had a much longer run than we ever expected we would and accomplished a great deal more than we ever imagined possible. We never set any specific goals when the band was founded other than to make the music we wanted to hear and to play (and to stay true to that ideal), so everything else that has come along the long and winding path has been an absolute gift. As with any momentous life-changing decision (which this certainly is for the 5 of us), we feel a very dynamic range of emotions about this and cannot express all of it within the space of a few sentences, and perhaps it's best to do what we've always done in and let our music speak for us. It is and has been the truest expression of who we are as a collective and in some ways who we are as individuals for the 13 years in which we've been together. The last and perhaps most important thing we might say in relation to all this is how grateful we are for the people that have supported us over the years. It is a lengthy list that would include those who put out our records, those that played on them and put them to tape, the many bands with whom we shared the stage, all of our family, friends and companions who supported us in our individual lives and thus made it possible for us to continue on in the band, and most importantly those who truly listened to our music whether in recorded form or by coming to out to our shows (or both). It is quite true that we would never have done what we have without those people, that is many of you who are reading this. Our words can never fully express what we feel, but we hope that our music and the efforts made to bring it into being can serve as a more proper expression of gratitude for this life and for everyone in it. The writing and arranging of the new album is as good as finished, and we will start the recordings of the new album Raised By Wolves in the coming weeks. The complete process of recording, mixing and mastering is something we plan to take until the end of 2010, due to the complex aspect of the recordings. Time and thought are powerful ingredients for this album! No live performances will be scheduled in the coming year, as we wish to concentrate completely on the creation of Raised By Wolves.

It is usually around this time in the Mourning Beloveth cycle that we would be in the midst of writing a new album but it hasn't worked out that way this time round. Firstly and most importantly we had the pleasure of welcoming a new member into the band so we thought we would play one or two gigs to welcome him. This spiraled around December when we were asked to play the seventh addition of Doom Shall Rise, after a six year break, and how could we say no to our German friends. Suffice to say, after a gig in Limerick we were ready to headline DSR on the Friday night in the chapel and it turned out to be one of our best sets in a while and the crowd reaction confirmed our thoughts on the gig. Next up was SWr in Portugal. What was supposed to be 3 days in the sun with some cheap wine and a 40 minute set turned in to 7 days as the now infamous volcano cloud took it’s toll on our flights and we could not leave for another 3 days, after the initial 2 hours of cursing our luck we made the most of it with plenty of sun, cheap beer and food. The gig was good but as anyone who has heard us will understand a 40 minute set has us only warming into the surroundings and suddenly we are finished but hey at least we got to play to alot of people who have probably never heard us before. Last weekend saw us return to London after 4 years to play with our friends Esoteric. Again a great night, the venue was packed and every band played a great set, sounds like mindless platitudes but this time they happen to be true. We really enjoyed our set and slightly taken aback by the amount of people there to see us. A big thanks to Miika and his crew for the night, hopefully we won’t leave it four years before the next gig And so, next up we have Hells Pleasure in Germany on July 23 and 24 with an underground line up to compete with any festival, and if last year is anything to go by it should be a great weekend. September and we return home to play the second edition of Dublin Doom Day with our friends Officium Triste. We are planning a slightly different set to the usual at this mainly due to the fact that it will be the fourth gig in Ireland in under 2 years so we owe it to ourselves and to the people who come to see us regularly to change things around. Madrid is the Dark fest in October, organized by our old comrade, and cloud metal specialist Adrian Butler will be our first gig in Spain since Doomination of Europe so many moons ago. And keep an eye to the site as we may have one or two more announcements regarding gigs for the rest of 2010. To other news, and finally the 10” split with our friends Wreck of the Hesperus has been released, 5 years of thinking about it, one night of recording and a year wait to press it...at least we haven’t lost our slow touch, but we think it was worth the wait. The artwork turned out perfectly and our take on Nick Cave’s “The Weeping Song” sound s just as we imagined it, bleak, melancholic full of passion and most of all a touch of the MB sound,and judging by the reaction alot of other people think so too. ITP RATING SYSTEM FOR EXTREME METAL CD REVIEWS:
A feature entitled ITP BLAST BACK REVIEWS: A RE RATE of reviews (that year) to see if I over or under rated certain releases. Just the rating, and there's no guarantee that all ratings will change. All ITP REVIEWS are on a BELL CURVE in comparison to previous (band/artist) releases and whatever else is released that year in said genre.
ITP EXTREME METAL RELEASE REVIEW RATING SYSTEM:
***** (5 stars)=Awesome, a classic, timeless, unholy
**** 1/2 (4 and half stars)=amazing, perhaps this bands best
**** (4 stars)=very good, well worth the purchase
*** 1/2 (3 1/2 stars)=Good, standard fare, for fans and not new converts
*** (3 stars)=Good, but flawed, no progression here
** 1/2 (2 1/2 stars)=Bordering on mediocrity, band is overrated
** (two stars)=somewhere between mediocre and SUKETH
* 1/2 (1 1/2 stars)= SUKETH (this release SUCKS)
* (one star)=Awful, this CD can only be used as a beer coaster or a Frisbee.
? (No stars)=this band and release blow goats.

A couple of issues I would like to address:
ITP DOES NOT like PSYCHOTIC people following ITP, you're under arrest, I will sue you.
ITP does not promote local and regional artists/bands and music venues whom have screwed me over, don't reciprocate or bands, labels, venues I don't like.
It is NOT ITP's responsibility for promoting your venue, club or crap band or show, DIY and promote your self, If I don't promote you or your band are awful, the music is awful.
ITP only promotes what SHE likes, go play in your own sandbox.
I don't promote local or regional bands or/and venues just because they are local, nor do I ignore bands and venues from out of state and out of the U.S. .
ITP does not promote main stream music nor mall core..Only extreme metal..
There are a couple of labels that are blacklisted, one that is national socialist.
A few bands are blacklisted from ITP, and one or two venues.
Obviously is someone gets in fight over ITP there will be consequences, NOT YOURS, ITP owns her own copy right.
ITP is not a request journal, it is an extreme metal source for extreme metal news, no hipsters, ITP is my journal.
ITP, while a media partner for most labels,does not write for nor work for record labels and is independent of record labels. ITP is not owned by a record label.
BTW, regarding monetize for adverts, ITP does not normally do adverts and has not committed to monetize, although I'll look into it, depending on timing and circumstances.
