BLACK SABBATH: ANNOUNCE (ONE OFF) INTIMATE HOMECOMING SHOW O2 Academy on Saturday, May 19, 2012

Doom metal pioneers BLACK SABBATH have announced an intimate homecoming gig set for 5/19/2012, O2 Academy, Birmingham, England. The show is considered a "warm up" gig before BLACK SABBATH's appearance at the 2012 DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL. The re-united BLACK SABBATH are limiting live shows as guitarist Tony Iommi was diagnosed with cancer and is currently seeking treatment. The rest of SABBATH's scheduled European summer gigs will be replaced by "Ozzy And Friends", at which the singer will be joined by Butler, former Ozzy guitarist Zakk Wylde and other special guests, including Slash on selected dates. BLACK SABBATH has been confirmed for the 2012 edition of the Lollapalooza festival, as the 3 day festival will take place on August 3-5, 2012 at Grant Park in downtown Chicago. BLACK SABBATH shall unleash a new studio release (produced by RICK RUBIN ) in the fall of 2012.

An additional live show has been announced this morning. Black Sabbath will play what’s being called “A Warmup Gig” on May 19th in Birmingham, England at the O2 Academy.  The warmup being for the Download Festival in early June.   They’re playing the O2 Academy.  At this time, there’s no word as to whether there will be any sort of opening act, or more importantly who is playing drums.  At last check, the lineup of Black Sabbath was:

• Tony Iommi – Guitar
• Ozzy Osbourne – Vocals
• Geezer Butler – Bass
• ??? – Drums
• Adam Wakeman – Keyboards

There’s been several rumors over the last few months or so regarding the drum slot, including several news stories that insisted they had the inside scoop as to who was playing drums.  Thing is, there are no facts.  We don’t know who is playing drums.  Even this morning, when the news of this gig broke, there were several people who sent me messages saying they “discovered” that Bill Ward is playing.  Why is this?  Because the Black Sabbath Facebook Info tab lists Bill Ward as a member.  Interesting theory, but that specific text they’re referring to has been there since the official Facebook page was set up for the Sabs, when Bill was involved.
As I’ve told people, if Bill Ward returns, you won’t “find” the news buried in an info tab on a Facebook page – it will be announced properly.   It’s sad to say, but there is NO NEWS as to who is playing drums.  If Bill returns, it will be properly announced.   Until then, we continue to hold out hope that Bill will be manning the skins.

ALL SHALL PERISH: Copyright Troll Causes Chaos By Suing Fans Without Band’s Permission

U.S. (California) death core band ALL SHALL PERISH were shocked when BLABBERMOUTH.NET. printed a story about the band allegedly suing fans for illegally downloading the bands latest release "This is Where It Ends" (NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS). ALL SHALL PERISH sent out a statement though the bands facebook and managment denying any sutch lawsuit. BLABBERMOUTH.NET with a disreputable source (MIAMINEWTIMES.COM) has since printed a retraction as ALL SHALL PERISH have denied the whole story even happened.

If further proof is needed that copyright trolls are only interested in money and couldn’t care less about artists or their reputations, read on. A lawsuit, filed against fans of the band All Shall Perish, caused chaos in the past 48 hours when the horrified band revealed they know nothing about it. Speaking with TorrentFreak, the band’s manager says they are “gutted” by the news and have no idea what is going on.

As reportedhere on Friday, a lawsuit filed April 20th in the US District Court For The Middle District of Florida is targeting fans of American metal band All Shall Perish.

Up to a point it’s a familiar story. A total of 80 IP addresses are listed having been harvested from a BitTorrent swarm sharing the album “This Is Where It Ends”. The plaintiff, a company called World Digital Rights, wants to discover the real-life identities of the alleged file-sharers so they can be hauled into court or, as is almost guaranteed, settled with for a few thousand dollars instead.

After the news broke, predictably the band started to receive negative feedback. But according to All Shall Perish’s manager, Ryan Downey, neither he nor the band know anything about the legal action.

“The band wasn’t consulted whatsoever and none of us have ever heard of this company,” Downey told TorrentFreak. “I spoke to the US label manager and German label president who both are as confused as we are. We are digging deeper and looking into the legality of it all. We are thinking it’s perhaps a sublicensor or some digital aggregator or something?!”

In reality the answer seems more straightforward. All Shall Perish’s German label are Nuclear Blast who according to their site are “the largest independent heavy metal label in the world.” Even if Nuclear Blast’s president is confused by the lawsuit, people working for him are definitely fully in the picture.

According to the lawsuit, on March 12, 2012, Nuclear Blast signed over the rights to “This Is Where It Ends” to World Digital Rights, Inc., an act that made the Panama-based company the “exclusive licensee” of the album. Along with that came the right to sue and it seems the company are now making the most of that right. After conducting another search of court documents today, it appears that World Digital Rights actually filed two lawsuits against alleged sharers of the album, one against 80 Does and another against a further 100.

In both cases World Digital Rights demands that each defendant is held “jointly and severally liable for the direct infringement of each other defendant” and held liable for statutory damages of $150,000.

Downey, who told us that the band were totally blindsided by the revelations, describes this action against fans as “awful” and has promised to stay in touch with developments. Ideally these lawsuits will get withdrawn, not only for the sake of the Does but for the sake of the band. But if Nuclear Blast and World Digital Rights persist with this ridiculous project, All Shall Perish might have no choice but to personally intervene – their reputation could rely on it.

ITP V.012:UPDATE: ITP V.011 REVIEW CORRECTION

ITP V.012 UPDATE: The "sowee, I have a habit of writing ITP REVIEWS late at night (with headphones on)"  as being tied down to headphones, the shitty bands get even shittier reviews. If your release sucks, ya know, It's sucks more to me if I'm tired, reviewing a  release becomes utter torture that late at night, tired, with non remote headphones on.  That's why I feature ITP blastback in case I over or underrated a release.

I do apologize to MITOCHONDRION as ITP V.011 reviewed the bands debut release (gave them a good review) and I'll be damned, I spelled the bands name wrong. :FACEPLANT: Understand, I'm not a "paid" writer, and blogging isn't top priority, despite the obsession in my life to do this. So I apologize, and even "overrated"  MITOCHONDRION  lmao, as they sound like PORTAL vs. INCANTATION in a drunken brawl, on a desolate, snowy mountain. ITP's author will eventually go back, regarding anytime I've mentioned MITOCHONDRION and revamp the spelling error. I'll be damned.  


The whole idea of reviewing releases during the DAY, or sitting on a review for a week, despite that I might be tired that late, is a no, no, where I'm currently situated, it's loud in this  house/neighborhood during the day, and concentration is impossible. Also, when ITP's author reviews releases, I'm LITERALLY writing while listening to the release, hence I stop, write, re-wind, fast forward, ect. As it has been suggested listening to the release FIRST, then writing, nah. I have to be listening to the release while writing.  

So, I stand corrected, NO ONE STRESS ME, OR STFU so I can get shit done.

German funeral doomsters WORSHIP are currently booking a fall (OCTOBER 2012) EUROPEAN tour as the band shall unleash a new offering around that time.

HEAVY DAYS IN DOOMTOWN 2012 will feature notable doom acts WORSHIP, COFFINS, SOLSTICE, NOOTHGRUSH, LORD VICAR and many more. 


FROM HEAVY DAYS IN DOOMTOWN PROMOTERS: 
  "Heavy Days In Doomtown -a DIY celebration of all things slow and heavy" will be a 4 day event at 3 different venues in Copenhagen:
-a warmup show at the alternative venue Stengade, Stengade 18
-2 days of music, art, events and madness at the DIY activist driven social centre Ungdomshuset, Dortheavej 61
- a cooldown day in Copenhagens freetown Christiania with moviescreenings, accoustic outdoor shows and the final concert at Christianias finest rockclub Loppen.

The festival is organized by the association "Undergrundsmusikens Fremme" (translated: Undergroundmusic promotion) based in Copenhagen, Denmark. The association has for the past two years been organizing the successful DIY Death Metal Festival "Kill-Town Death Fest" (www.killtowndeathfest.dk) and has now spread its ventures to the doomspectre.

The whole event is organized by the DIY principles, which means that neither the organizers, the bands or the people who work at the fest are making any profit, and our main purpose besides having an amazing fest full of heavy music, is to promote the DIY principles to the genres who doesn’t usually organize this way.

Besides music, were inviting a bunch of great artists to come and make installations, visuals and more before and during the festival to make the expeirence of the fest visual as well as musical.

We hope to see all of you in Copenhagen in May for Europes heaviest underground event of 2012!

LEVON HELM (THE BAND): PUBLIC MEMORIAL/BURIAL DRAWS OVER 2, 000

 
                                                                                                                                                            Legendary drummer/vocalist/actor (and member of legendary rock pioneers THE BAND) LEVON HELM's public memorial drew over 2, 000 mourners complete with a dixieland jazz band, and a multiple car funeral procession through Woodstock, NY.  LEVON HELM will be buried in Woodstock, NY  next to late BAND member RICK DANKO Friday.. LEVON HELM passed away 4/19/2012 of complications of throat cancer at 71.
EDITORS NOTE: It is total tradition in New Orleans, Louisiana and down south (USA) to have the coolest Dixie Land Jazz band play various funerals, always awesome.
