OV HELL ANNOUNCE TRACKLISTING FOR THE UNDERWORLD REGIME

Norwegian (all star) black metal project OV HELL have announced the track listing for the bands debut entitled "The Underworld Regime" due out in February 2010. FROM OV HELL: Ov HELL, the new band from Shagrath (Dimmu Borgir) and King (God Seed, I, Sahg, ex-Gorgoroth) has completed work on the band's first studio album. The Underworld Regime is due in early February 2010 via Indie Recordings.

The tracks were recorded at Earshot Studio and feature Shagrath on vocals, King on bass, Frost (Satyricon) on drums, Ice Dale (Enslaved) on guitar and Teloch (Nidingr, God Seed) on guitar.

The Underworld Regime was produced by Herbrand Larsen and mastered in
Livingroom studios by Espen Berg and Shagrath, under the influence of the swine flu and Streptococcus, November 2009.

King has written all of the music for the album, while Shagrath has written all lyrics with contributions from Silenoz and Sarah Owens.

The Underworld Regime track listing is as follows:

01. Devil’s Harlot
02. Post Modern Sadist
03. Invoker
04. Perpetual Night
05. Ghosting
06. Acts of Sin
07. Krigsatte Faner
08. Hill Norge

“The majestic Ov HELL has become a band that reflects our roots, raw, ugly,
--arrogantly blasphemous-- with uncompromising truth from two influential Norwegian musicians needing to express our primitive side, straight out Ov HELL.” - Shagrath

"It's been a little hell to actually see this music form into a band but,
when I`m now listening to the final result, it has been worth the hard work we have put into this album!" - KING

Two rough-mix sample tracks from The Underworld Regime can be heard on the band's MySpace http://www.myspace.com/ovhell

And I hate the way you can't say no
Too many long lines in a row
I hate the powder on your nose

And now I know who you are

Just to figure you out

VARG VIKERNES SPEAKS

BURZUM mastermind VARG VIKERNES spoke about his anticipated new release "White God"(due out in March/April 2010) through BURZUM.ORG.
FROM BURZUM.ORG:
When I speak through www.burzum.org I always imagine that I speak only to Burzum fans. If not a Burzum fan, why would You visit this site? Judging from the response to the A Burzum Story: Part X - "The White God", this is not the case. Or maybe it is, in which case I have a whole lot of fans in the media.

When these apparent Burzum fans in the media report the news that Burzum will release another album, the reaction is kind of weird. Most of them have been honourable enough to both print the whole article, or at least most of it, and tell their readers where they got the news from. This is correct and lawful journalism, when dealing with copyrighted material. "Hurray" to You for that.

Apparently my comparing of black metallers with the stereotypical Negro and homosexuals is not taken lightly in "the real world". Because of my thoughtless remarks I am, according to them or their readers, both a vile racist and homophobic, and should ideally be stone to death for being intolerant. Naturally.

The problem is that my remarks aren't really homophobic. What I do is simply point at the obvious facts; some black metallers dress, walk, talk, look and act like stereotypical homosexuals. Both the black metallers in question and the stereotypical homosexuals obviously buy their clothes, their make-up and jewellery from the same "laces & leather" shops. They wear the same clothes, the same make-up and the same jewellery. So they do dress and look like the stereotypical homosexual. End of discussion.

The funny thing is that I never really stated if this was a bad thing or not. Maybe I in fact think dressing and looking "gay" is okay, but perhaps not for black metallers, who think of themselves and try to present themselves as some sort of "dark warriors"? Who can tell? I surely never said anything about that in my article. So, when readers of my words react so strongly it is because they are homophobic: they obviously think that dressing and looking like homosexuals is a bad thing. Maybe they should take a look in the mirror and think for a minute before they start attacking me for being homophobic?

When it comes to the "racist remark" I can only apologize to You all. I obviously live in a different world, where one can discuss ones perception of reality without any fear of harassment; a world of tolerance and respect, a world of intellectual debate and honesty. Some of You apparently don't, so when I speak I must be careful. I must say, though, that if You don't like what I say to my fans on www.burzum.org, then please don't read or refer to my articles. It's a free world, and You are free not to read my articles. I want to point out that my so called "racist remark" was actually not intended to be racist or to offend anyone but the black metallers in question, whom I happen to know have indeed some strong views and opinions. It was purely meant to draw attention to how some black metal artists are more and more acting and living a lifestyle like the individuals they at least in private claim to despise.

When it comes to the title of the next album, "The White God", this has nothing to do with "race" or "skin colour" or anything like that. Please stop this nonsense about "The White God" being a racist album. This album is about Baldr, known as "The White God", because he is a solar deity and because he is pale after spending time in the realm of the dead. I don't use the Baldr name because I want to speak to all the different cultures of Europe, and we all happen to have our own name for this deity. The British/Picts/Gaulls called him Belenus, the Greeks called him Apollon, the Romans Apollo, the Scytho-Slavs Byelobog, and so forth, and before that we all called him Belus. However, we all know him as the White God, and therefore I use this as the title for my album.

The next album is a description of a part of our culture that most of us have forgotten all about. I know this interest many of You, or at least many of the Burzum fans (as surely not all the readers of this are Burzum fans). Maybe You should wait and see for Yourselves, before You start "burning books", like some certain ignorant predecessors in history.

Thank You for the attention, and for being able to bring some colour to Your lives. :-)
Thanks-Stay Metal, Stay Brutal-\m/ -l-

Respectfully,

TOM G. WARRIOR ANNOUNCES MORE ACTS FOR ROADBURN 2010

TOM G. WARRIOR curator of the 2010 ROAD BURN FESTIVAL have announced more bands due to perform at next years festival set to take place 4/16/2010, TILBURG, NETHERLANDS @ 013.

FROM TOM G. WARRIOR and ROADBURN:
Tom Gabriel Warrior, the founder of Swiss pioneers HELLHAMMER, CELTIC FROST and now TRIPTYKON, has announced more bands that will appear at his curated event, titled Only Death Is Real, during Roadburn Festival 2010 in Tilburg, Netherlands on Friday, April 16.

Following is a list of the newly confirmed artists (along with THORR'S HAMMER, TRINACRIA and NWOBHM legends WITCHFYNDE), each of which were handpicked by Tom:

JESU
EVOKEN
PAGAN ALTAR
VALBORG
SERPENTCULT
SHEVER
NONEUCLID

Comments from bands regarding their participation in Only Death Is Real:

JESU: "Of course, it is an honour for JESU to be personally invited by Tom G. Warrior to perform at his individually curated 'Only Death Is Real' event at Roadburn 2010. It goes without saying, that the music of Tom G. Warrior has had an immense impact on the music, I, Justin K Broadrick, have been producing since 1985, in all of my guises, be it NAPALM DEATH in the Eighties, GODFLESH in the Eighties and Nineties, and JESU currently…"

EVOKEN: "It's truly an honor to be invited to play at Tom Gabriel Warrior's 'Only Death is Real' at Roadburn 2010. Tom G Warrior's playing, as well as his work in CELTIC FROST and HELLHAMMER, are not only a staple in the metal world, but one of our main influences and reasons why EVOKEN exists today. When we started EVOKEN, never in our dark imaginations would we have thought this day would EVER come. To be invited by our main influence in metal, who all will agree is one of the most well-respected and talented individuals... Tom Gabriel Warrior. We accept this dark gift in complete honor. We shall deliver nothing less than uncompromising, soul-crushing heaviness that EVOKEN can only bring forth... Be warned!"

PAGAN ALTAR: "The call from Tom G Warrior to join him at Roadburn came as a complete and utter surprise to Al and I as we had not the slightest inclination we would be asked. Recognition from one musician to another to us is one of the highest accolades we can think of and so would like to say thanks to Tom for asking us. PAGAN ALTAR as a band are really up for it and looking forward to playing at Tom's 'Only Death Is Real' show and are indeed proud to share a stage with these guys!"

VALBORG: "We met Tom and TRYPTIKON bass player Vanja in Switzerland before a VALBORG concert and had some really great conversations. So it was indeed a very special honour that we got invited by Tom to play at the Roadburn 2010. In the midst of irrelevance, Tom G. Warrior gave us more confidence to go ahead on the path we chose. We are still fans and he is the master of extreme metal. So, we will slay the world to pieces at the Roadburn Festival to honour his almighty work. Be prepared motherfuckers! Feel the aggression rise."

SERPENTCULT: "We were speechless, but extremely honoured and humbled when we got the invitation by Tom to perform at the next edition of Roadburn. CELTIC FROST and HELLHAMMER had such an important impact on us that it inspired us to pick up our guitars many years ago. Now we find ourselves being invited to Roadburn, by the very creator of this music himself. We can't wait to head back to the stages of the 013 venue! Our appearance at the festival will also give us the opportunity to present our new album 'Raised By Wolves' to the world."

SHEVER: "Tom always supported us to continue in our chosen musical way. We feel very honored and happy about his invitation to Roadburn 2010, and having the possibility to contribute some evil witch doom to this unique event — a dream came true, and we're ready to give all we have for this show!"

NONEUCLID: "We are very honored to be part of this festival, and this special night. I have been into CELTIC FROST since I was 13. I had just started playing guitar, and they were my first contact with non-tonal music — a fact that had far-reaching consequences, since life took me to become a contemporary composer. CELTIC FROST's approach to their lyrics also made a mark on us all; their taking the listener into rotten evil worlds while maintaining a high level of dignity made 90% of metal bands look like embarrassing adolescents in my young eyes, and they set the bar high in the black sonic arts for everyone who came after. When V Santura joined them as touring guitarist, that was the biggest thing ever to happen in the music scene of our home town... it seems unreal that now, so many years after, the mighty Tom G. Warrior tells us he's into our little band. So when The Warrior calls, there can only be one answer from us and that's 'Yes, sir, with pleasure!'"

SHINING (NORWAY) ANNOUNCE TRACKLISTING FOR BLACKJAZZ

Norway's SHINING, whom just signed a deal with INDIE RECORDS have announced the track listing for the bands new release entitled "BLACKJAZZ" due to be unleashed 1/25/2010 via INDIE RECORDINGS.

 FROM SHINING and INDIE RECORDINGS:
Norwegian act SHINING (not to be confused with the Swedish black metal band of the same name) will release its new album, "Blackjazz", on January 25 via Indie Recordings.

The track listing for the CD is as follows:

01. The Madness And The Damage Done
02. Fisheye
03. Exit Sun
04. Exit Sun
05. Healter Skelter
06. The Madness And The Damage Done
07. Blackjazz Deathtrance
08. Omen
09. 21st Century Schizoid Man

Over the course of its impressive 10-year career, SHINING has created its own unique and bizarre hybrid of jazz and extreme metal, which is easily distinguishable from the musical world of their Swedish labelmates sharing the same band name.

Commented Indie in a statement: "With their one-of-a kind-sound and extreme approach to music, [SHINING] are the perfect match for Indie Recordings. SHINING adds the experimentalism, variety and boldness we have been wanting to add to our roster for a long time, and we are confident SHINING will continue to push the borders of what is happening in the scene!"

SHINING's Jørgen Munkeby comments: "After 10 merciless years and four ground-breaking and critically acclaimed albums, our sound is more punishing and extreme than ever before, and our fan-base bigger than ever. For 'Blackjazz', we needed a label that would match our aggressiveness, along with our taste for catchiness. We needed people who shared our dedication to music and art, along with our ambitions of reaching a vast number of people, a label that would match our constantly growing numbers of fans worldwide and the ever expanding interest for our musical mission. Indie Recordings is the perfect match for SHINING's 'Blackjazz'! Their knowledge of the music industry is as immense as their love for good music. It will be a great pleasure to be working with this marvelous and ambitious label in the future!"

What can one say about the legendary California thrash act SLAYER that hasn't been said before? Cult, controversial, the sound on the battlefield or the sound of the apocalypse, and an institution in metal. SLAYER are perhaps the band with the honer of thrash and extreme metals ultimate anthem "Raining Blood". SLAYER inspire some of the most rabid fan worship, and I mean, intense and loyal.Requesting SLAYER during other band/artists shows is as popular as screaming out go for "Freebird". Of course there's the dude who carved the SLAYER logo into his arm (scarification) as the photo of such is featured inside the SLAYER release "DIVINE INTERVENTION". SLAYER have a cult, riotous, violent, dark, energy, screaming SLAYER out of no where seems righteous, and the fans KNOW. With no further introduction.......SLAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYEEEEEEERRRRR!!!!!! (:breaks shit:) SLAYER's "World Painted Blood" kicks off with the title track entering in with an ominous intro, and Dave Lombardo's snare fills, as the intro segues into a good riff, until Tom Araya starts singing. It's SLAYER alright with enough sociopathic lyrics to keep horror movie fans interested: "Killing is my future, murder is my future". However, the guitars on "World Painted Blood" sound thin, not powerful or heavy enough, as TOM ARAYA's vocal phrasings are the only thing truly recognizable and trademark SLAYER in this track. The fact that "riff" kicking off the title track of "World Painted Blood" is buried beneath all this tripe is a shame. Sounds like SLAYER has softened and gone alternative on us..At 4:12 "World Painted Blood" features this awful spoken word piece, until SLAYER picks up the pace. "Unit 731" is classic SLAYER, if not recycled riffs from the bands past, with no dynamics, not much in songwriting, no substance. SLAYER's "Snuff" seems to self plagiarize "Raining Blood" perhaps back wards, but IS listenable with a Seasons Of The Abyss feel. "Beauty Through Order" invokes SLAYER's mid tempo moments, dark in atmosphere as the song would benefit from a wall of sound production. At 2:09 "Beauty Through Order" picks up the pace, thrash core, as at 2:39 a lead riff is invoked as the band ups the ante on the tempo and play with stronger conviction sounding good and tight by the tunes end. "Hate World Wide" is a good tune, if somewhat melodic, not of the dark atmosphere of older SLAYER and kind of a lyrical self parody. I mean. SLAYER's music has never been about love and happiness, entitling the song "Hate World Wide" is kind of, redundant. "Public Display Of Dismemberment" is good, aggressive thrash, with a good breakdown thrown in there, something to mosh too. "Human Strain" is mid paced, dark, and mediocre, uninspired with your typical dark, bleak social political SLAYER lyrical themes. "Americon" is another mid paced, uninspired track of hard rock track. This all leaves me wondering when SLAYER are going to show up with their battle gear on this release. However, "Psychopathy Red" is a mucho better track, with Araya's bass solo audibly clear, played with adrenaline, speed, and intensity, psychopathic music to kill someone to. "Playing With Dolls" features Tom Araya's clean vocals for starters as the track progresses to mid paced hard rock/thrash. Damn boring. SLAYER's "World Painted Blood" closes with "Not Of This God", a slightly up beat SLAYER track for what this release is worth as the song segues into a mid paced tribal beat and then uping the ante to some vicious, classic SLAYER thrash at 3:16..... I don't KNOW why I wasted my time even reviewing SLAYER's "World Painted Blood". Oh, yeh, this IS SLAYER and one would have to give the metal gods the benefit of the doubt despite the bands slow decline since the first five releases. In fact, other than SLAYER's brutal live shows, SLAYER nearly lost me after Diabolus In Musica.                                   However, SLAYER restored my faith with the 2001 release of "God Hates Us All", a post 9/11 classic, and an unlikely soundtrack through the 9/11/2001 crisis. SLAYER's "World Painted Blood" is an uninspired, weak release in this legendary thrash bands catalog as the inconsistency of this release is proof that SLAYER didn't show up with their game face. There is some speed, and variety on SLAYER's "World Painted Blood" but without the 30 minute substance of "Reign in Blood", dark, bleak battle cry of "Seasons Of the Abyss" and the genuine, fore bearing apocalyptic terror/war theme of even "God Hates Us All". I would prefer a punchier production, better songwriting, and stronger riffs. I hope age hasn't caught up with these thrash metal gods, and I know there is a nu thrash revival, and some awesome progressive thrash out there. I just want the Kerry King god bashing lyrics and sicks riffs, and an Araya scream fest and I'm happy. Ultimately, I'm disappointed... STILL, I feel sorry for any band without it's own cult following that would have to open up for SLAYER, as the cult is still alive to the chant of SLLLLLLAAAAAAYEEEEERRRR!
