SEASON OF MIST (MAYHEMS LABEL) EXPLAIN MAYHEM's HOTEL TRASHING INCIDENT

MAYHEM and the bands label SEASON OF MIST (FRANCE) have explained the bands hotel trashing incident in Holland a few days ago

. FROM SEASON OF MIST MYSPACE:
According to various national Dutch news websites, seven members and two crewmembers of Norwegian Black Metal act MAYHEM were arrested on last Monday morning. After their stay in a hotel room, the furniture turned out to be fully wrecked. An employee of the Hotel Central discovered the mess in the morning. Plants were thrown onto the street, mirrors and a sink were wrecked, curtains torn apart and also the beds and TV set were destroyed. The walls were fully stained. Damage was caused for around 5000€. The band members and crew were kept in custody until the compensation was paid.

MAYHEM frontman Attila comments on the incident: "Needless to say that I was not involved (and neither was Necrobutcher) so luckily I was not arrested.

"What happened AGAIN is that the 18 year old promoter disappeared with a 1000€ advance on his account, a couple of days before the first show of the tour. That is the problem with internet: anyone can act like a booking agent... He continually lied, saying it was all booked but we found out at the very end that we had no flights booked and nothing was managed except for promotion at the local clubs and sales of hundreds of tickets in advance. So we decided to book our own flights, local transportation and backline from our own efforts on the last day before the tour started, in order to play this small tour just to be loyal to the fans and to the local promoters (who were freaking out too, of course)... I think we were cool, but you can imagine the stress we were under.

"Then of course you can imagine that this tour was not the best of our lives, but we somehow managed to play good shows and make the best out of it and we survived somehow, swallowing a lot of crap. On the night after the last show, the guys got drunk and exploded in that really bad hotel, a hotel in which we didn't even have toilets in the room. I saw part of it, and when I woke up it was a big mess. To me it looked both funny and sad at the same time... Actually, it was not only Mayhem involved, but some people from the local crew too, who worked for us on the tour as drivers. I agree it was stupid of course, but what could I do? I hope they all learned from a good lesson now. Maybe it makes a bit more sense after reading these lines..."

NECROBUTCHER (MAYHEM) EXPLAINS HOTEL TRASHING FROM
AND Dagbladet.no:

On MAYHEM's record label, Season Of Mist, which wrote on its Facebook page following the Tilburg incident, "We're really proud when an established band of 40-year-olds behave like a bunch of inexperienced punks!":

Necrobutcher: "They are so square, they prefer not to have anything to do with guys like us."

On how what led to the hotel trashing:

Necrobutcher: "It was the last night of a three-four day tour, and we were gonna celebrate a little with the guys who had travelled with us. Unfortunately, the hotel room had to pay for this.

"Our rider says that we should get single rooms in three-star hotels. But the local promoter put us in double rooms in a hotel that hadn't been refurbished in sixty or seventy years. When one of us sat down on the bed, it broke. After that, a mirror went, somebody cut themselves a little, there was some blood, and some more stuff got broken.

"We weren't really sober, and we were nine guys: the band, the crew and two Dutch drivers. In the morning, when we finally fell asleep, the police arrived. They saw all the broken rooms, and water was flooding out of some of the pipes. They didn't bother to do any interrogations, they just arrested everybody. Because it was early in the morning, everybody wasn't sober and somebody became a little aggressive. The mood wasn't really great when we were arrested.

"I mentioned to the police that I at some point thought things had gone too far. I think it was when the TV went. For the prosecution, it became a point that I had tried to stop the whole thing. Everybody else was found guilty of complicity."
