ITP V.019 ONLY ONE PER COFFIN: R.I.P. GINGER BAKER (DRUMMER CREAM)

GINGER BAKER, legendary drummer of British rock legends CREAM passed away due to chronic illness at 80.

CREAM, featuring JACK BRUCE and ERIC CLAPTON, were known for many hits including "SUNSHINE OF YOUR LOVE", "I FEEL FREE" and "WHITE ROOM".

GINGER BAKER was also a part of super group BLIND FAITH featuring ERIC CLAPTON and STEVIE WINDWOOD.

BLIND FAITH scored a hit with "CAN'T FIND MY WAY HOME".

FROM GINGER BAKER ESTATE:
We are very sad to say that Ginger has passed away peacefully this morning. Thank you to everyone for your kind words to us all over the past weeks.

FROM STEVE WINDWOOD:
On the passing of Ginger Baker:
"A very sad loss, and my condolences to his family and friends.
A loss also for his contribution to music. He was well-grounded in jazz from very early on, and later managed to combine this with African and rock music to create his own inimitable style of playing.
I was lucky to play with him in Ginger Baker’s Air Force, and to meet and work with such luminaries as Phil Seamen, Harold McNair and Graham Bond. And also in Blind Faith with Eric Clapton and Rick Grech. Although his appointment was very unorthodox (he showed up on the doorstep and said, 'Here I am') - he made a great contribution to the Blind Faith album which has withstood the test of time.
Beneath his somewhat abrasive exterior, there was a very sensitive human being with a heart of gold.
He’ll be missed."
- Steve Winwood

 FROM MICK JAGGER:

FROM PAUL MCCARTNEY:
Ginger Baker, great drummer, wild and lovely guy. We worked together on the 'Band on the Run' album in his ARC Studio, Lagos, Nigeria. Sad to hear that he died but the memories never will. X Paul

FROM JACK BRUCE:
The family of Jack Bruce would like to extend their sincere condolences to Ginger Baker’s family, friends and fans. Surviving a love hate relationship, Ginger was like an older brother to Jack, working together in The Graham Bond Organisation, making history with Cream and later collaborating with BBM. Each and every time, their chemistry was truly spectacular. RIP Ginger, one of the greatest drummers of all time

FROM NEKROFILTH:
RIP Ginger Baker. What an animal!

FROM EVER METAL (FACEBOOK):

HI Everyone - Well this isn't a good day.
First is the news that, one of my fave drummers, Ginger Baker has passed away. Both Cream and Blind Faith were fantastic bands. He was a grumpy sod but damn he could play those drums!
R.I.P. Ginger
