May be an image of text that says 'CHARLIF WATTS London- August 24. 2021 A statement from his spokesperson: "It is with immense sadness that we announce the death of our beloved Charlie Watts. He passed away peacefully in a London hospital earlier today surrounded by his family.  CHARLIE WATTS, famed drummer of British rock legends THE ROLLING STONES has passed away at 80.

CHARLIE WATTS performed drums for THE ROLLING STONES for over 58 years and was an avid jazz fan.

THE ROLLING STONES unleashed "BLUE AND LONESOME", 12/2/2016 via POLYDOR.

ITP V.021 EDITORS NOTE: I had the pleasure of seeing the STONES on the STEEL WHEELS tour back in '89 or '90 with LIVING COLOUR as support. Needless to say, THE ROLLING STONES put on a great show, WATTS was a solid as a rock behind the drums. When the STONES played "SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL" all of Shea Stadium went nuts. R.I.P Charlie, you were AWESOME.

FROM MIKKEY DEE (SCORPIONS, MOTORHEAD):

Very very sad news!
Charlie Watts was one of my big inspirations in the early years and still is today! A very unique drummer with his own style. He has inspired the whole planet for so many years. Another legend gone! Rest in peace and thank you so much for all the inspiration you have given us drummers around the world! /Mikkey

FROM LIVING COLOUR:

We are extremely saddened by the news of Charlie Watts passing.
The Living Colour family sends our deepest condolences to his family, friends and Rolling Stones fans everywhere. We are grateful for your friendship and advice throughout the years - Rest peacefully #CharlieWatts ✌🏿❤️🙏🏿

FROM GUN:

Hey Gunettes and Gunners, just heard the sad news about Charlie Watts. Gun were very lucky and fortunate enough to support The Stones 1990 urban jungle tour where we got to also hang out with them. Charlie would come into our dressing room many times and asked if we were all good? Made us feel so welcome. He kept saying to us, if we need absolutely anything to just ask!
A real sweet down to earth man who was so quiet but adored by millions. There will never ever be a Charlie Watts, a true gentleman and with his unique style of drumming that made him a one off!
It’s these moments you think about the times with him and the Stones, memories we’ll never forget!
God bless you Charlie Watt
It’s was an absolute pleasure to have met you and known you.
Our hearts are broken! 💔💔XX
More CHARLIE WATTS TRIBUTES TO BE POSTED LATER.

FROM PERRY FARRELL (JANE'S ADICTION):

Drummers are the most ensnared individuals.
Though they are loudest, they are the last to be heard.
They have insecurities due to the fact that everyone has their back turned on them.
Herein lies the band’s secret; there is no greatness- without a great drummer.

 FROM ALEX SKOLNIC (TESTAMENT):

Ugh. Another great one gone. I was just about to post a published piece I wrote about another loss from a few years ago (coming soon), but now hearing this sad news. Beyond the Stones, he was a huge supporter and enthusiast of jazz, with some quite good big band recordings of his own to prove it.
Of the biggest of the “British Invasion” bands, it’s hard to disagree that #CharlieWatts was among the best drummers - some would say instrumentalist, period… Even notorious carmudgeon and admitted rhythm snob, the late great Ginger Baker. May they both meet up, jam and argue good-naturedly somewhere in the cosmos.

FROM WFUV (NEW YORK, NEW JERSEY RADIO):

All of us at WFUV are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of an absolute rock 'n' roll legend: The Rolling Stones' savvy, stylish and incomparable drummer of nearly 60 years, Charlie Watts, has passed away at the age of 80. We salute you, sir.

FROM TOM MORELLO (RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE):

FROM CARL PALMER (ASIA, ELP):

I am deeply saddened that today Charlie Watts has died.
We spoke a few times on the phone about vintage drums and we were always looking at the possibilities of getting together one day. Charlie and I had traded some vintage drums over the years.
Charlie will be greatly missed by many.
I first played on Charlie's blue oyster pearl Ludwig drums in the Rolling Stones rehearsal studio, in south London, back in the 60s. This was at the time I was with The Crazy World of Arthur Brown.
Rest in peace Charlie.
~Carl Palmer

FROM TONY IOMMI (BLACK SABBATH):

So sorry to hear the very sad news of Charlie Watts passing. He was such a nice guy and a major influence in the music business - he’ll be sadly missed. My deepest condolences to his family and to Mick, Ronnie, Keith and all his friends and fans. R.I.P.
Tony

 FROM SCORPIONS:

FROM THE CAPITAL THEATER (ALBANY, NEW YORK):
Rest in Power, Charlie Watts. We send our deepest condolences to his friends, family, band members, and fans all over the world. The music lives on. Thank you for playing our stage on 10/25/97. We will never forget you.

FROM THE MONOLITH DEATHCULT:

Although it was not allowed as a brutal death metal band at the time to find The Roles Stones cool, 30 years ago we listened the phenomenal Rolling Stones Voodoo Lounche album evening after evening. A leading role in this was the brilliant drum work of Charlie Watts. The first 7 (official) Rolling Stones albums have had an unmistakable influence on the sound of the later Monolith Deathcult in terms of songwriting and blusey touch. Unfortunately, Charlie Watts was also an old man and with his death the music world loses another icon. Goddamn...
