OUR LEIPZIG AND LJUBLJANA SHOWS GOT CANCELLED DUE TO FALSE ACCUSATIONS
On arriving to Ljubljana for our second show of the tour we got informed with very unfortunate news. Our show in Leipzig got cancelled because the venue got informed of our alleged links to NSBM scene, because our ex-bassguitarist played in a band called Krajiny Hmly, a black metal band with which we’ve played a few shows during our beginnings as a band. Krajiny Hmly, which themselves have no NSBM context in their lyrical concepts, are signed to a label called Werewolf Promotion, which released NSBM bands in the past.
We are absolutely astounded that anyone could accuse us of sympathising with such hateful, irrational and damaging ideology and Solipsism never ever wavered in this aspect. The lyrical identity of Solipsism lies in existentialism, finding the meaning of one’s life and overcoming obstacles that your mind throws your way. We want to motivate people to conquer their psychological shackles, delve deep into one’s struggles and come out stronger. This is the message of Solipsism. We never were a political band nor will we ever be.
With that being said, we as members of Solipsism of course, have our own political views which point all the way against all types of totalitarian ideologies and we choose our friends accordingly. It’s one thing that we played some shows with Krajiny Hmly, but we played a lot more with a prominent antifascist post-black metal band called Besna who are really vocal about their political views and with whom we did a numerous collaborations, live or in studio (our vocalist singing on Besna’s upcoming album, Besna’s vocalist singing on ours). We also play antifascist venues in Slovakia (in fact we are booked for one in a month), which never had any problems with us, because who knows us personally knows, that there can be absolutely no speculation about our political views and values.
We stand against all extreme, human rights abusing, toxic ideologies that pollute not only the music scene, but foremost our society. It’s not only the shows that we lost, we feel personally attacked by such atrocious accusations. We hope that whomever this may concern will see the truth behind our words.
