Promoters for PROG POWER USA have explained in a post that the cost of touring VISAS have doubled.
FROM PROG POWER USA:
We have now reached the point where every single international band will need to be prepared to pay for an expedited application- essentially doubling all fees. There is no other choice as the law is you cannot apply more than a year in advance. Plus, you have to factor in wait times at the U.S. consul in the respective countries once approved along with mailing times. It will now cost an international band with crew a minimum of $14,000-$15,000 before they even get on a plane. Keep in mind there is no guarantee of an approval even after spending that amount.
FROM AEONIAN SORROW:
For
those of you asking why we don't tour in the US and we only do Europe.
Would you be able to invest such an amount without knowing if you get an
approval for a P-1 visa? It's getting more and more ridiculous.
FROM ENTHRONED:
A Message to Our North American Legions
We’ve been receiving messages for quite some time from our fans in North America, asking when ENTHRONED will finally tour the U.S., or why we haven’t been part of festivals like Maryland Deathfest and others of that kind.
The truth is, touring the U.S. has always come with major challenges, especially when it comes to visas. While we've managed to overcome those obstacles in the past and play a few shows overseas, it was often at our own expense.
To put things into perspective, we wanted to share a bit of reality. Below, you’ll find some insight into what bands are dealing with nowadays challenges that make a U.S. tour nearly impossible.
