Channeling abstract forces beyond the unconscious to create music is an exhausting process, yet there are few expressions in our languages that can precisely define the extenuating act of bringing “Anthems for the Grand Collapse” to life.

It has been twenty months of recording, dialogue, collapse, collaboration, despair, destruction, and renewal — our beloved eternal spiral of chaos, light, fog, and certainty that, as always, almost consumed us.

We never considered that it could be otherwise, as long ago we abandoned any hope of becoming something else. Otherwise, we would remain with our pre-existing project in vacuous and pedantic act of self-deception to utterly prove ourselves, which witnessing their present lamentable unfolding, it’s painfully obvious there was no way to become anything different.

I still struggle to explain why we do this; I only know that what we create with such

pain and such passion—countless evenings with numbed hands and a mind set

ablaze—resonates with those who listen to SolNegre or read these words.

The silence has been broken. This should not be happening. Yet the ceremony of opposites, of darkness and flashes, of violence and despair that is “Anthems for the Grand Collapse” is now complete. This is what we are down to the last of our atoms, and we will not change it, now not even through physical death.

We have no ego, no aspiration beyond sharing our perception and engaging in a direct dialogue with your soul, bypassing the futile barriers of language, time, and

death. These magnificent and tragic shards of us are not warnings, nor prophecies.

They are written from within the collapse by us, those who already inhabit it.
