PHILIP H. ANSELMO: POSTS VIDEO APOLOGY AFTER BEHAVIOR AT DIMEBASH 2016

PHILIP H. ANSELMO (formerly of PANTERA, currently of DOWN, THE ILLEGALS, SUPERJOINT) has posted a video apology after sieg heiling and screaming "WHITE POWER!" as he was lead off the stage via former TYPE O NEGATIVE (current DANZIG) drummer JOHNNY KELLY at the end of DIMEBASH 2016.

Many artists and metal webzines including METALSUCKS, CVLT NATION, MACHINE HEAD, ALL SHALL PERISH and more have spoken out against PHIL ANSELMO's actions at DIMEBASH 2016 and racism.

We consider Pantera to be the single greatest metal band of all time, but we should never be afraid to call out our heroes. Seeing Phil's actions and his cowardly justification is not only disgusting and inexcusable but antithetical to the punk, metal, underground ethos to which we subscribe. No gods, No masters, and certainly no master race. Any justifications or cries of "reverse racism", BET, Double standards, PC Police, Or general white whining are just profoundly ignorant of history, systemic effects, and the lasting impact of state sponsored racism, Jim crow, segregation and slavery. Talk with your black friends, if you have any, and try to gain some perspective. There has never, nor will ever, be a true incarnation of “reverse racism” until white people are swinging from trees en mass, sold into torture, defined in the constitution as 3/5th's a person, denied from public institutions and forcibly segregated from society. In the face of what an actual tit for tat reprisal would look like, affirmative action and understanding the significance and context of displaying black pride seem the least the multi-generational benefactors of being the master race can muster. Racism and its institutions are a stain on American culture; likewise, Phil’s actions are a stain on the legacy of Pantera, Dime’s memory and the metal community as a whole.

Canadian progressive sci-fi metal innovators VOIVOD, who recently toured Europe as part of the “Deathcrusher 2015” tour alongside Carcass, Obituary and Napalm Death, are pleased to announce the release of the “Post Society - EP” Mini-CD. This special release will be available in Digipak CD format as well as Digital Download on February 26th, 2016 via Century Media Records.

The “Post Society - EP”, with artwork by VOIVOD drummer Michel “Away” Langevin, contains 5 studio tracks, including the previously vinyl-only new VOIVOD songs from the split 7” EP’s with label-mates At The Gates and Napalm Death, two brand new songs and a Hawkwind cover (“Silver Machine”) total playing time of 30 minutes. Michel “Away” Langevin checked in to comment on the release as follows: “More songs from out in the woods! Meanwhile, we hope you will enjoy this EP of good old thrash-prog-punk-metal or whatever people want to call Voïvod nowadays :)”

VOIVOD’s previously announced first leg of their next US tour in February/March 2016 with support by Vektor, as well as Eight Bells from February 6th - 287h and Black Fast from February 28th - March 5th, has recently been expanded for a few dates.
