Drew Wesely I honestly don't think that Mastodon are overt racists, they're just like Spinal Tap when in the movie they're defending their Smell The Glove album as satire. They're more clueless about what sexism is (Christopher Guest: "What's wrong with being sexy?"). Mastodon is just like Spinal Tap in that way, they're clueless about what makes the shirt racist, in that it eroticizes genocide, rather than being themselves racist.
Will Klatte Yeah, geez, I'm sorry I told so many people to fuck off earlier. I didn't understand the ironic humor in this depiction of genocide and sexual violence, and I still don't, but that's on me. It's not "white" society's fault I don't have a sense of humor. I mean, I'm pretty sure I can say that "white" society is responsible for the ongoing colonization and genocide faced by Indigenous people, along with all the forced relocations, child apprehensions, residential schools, illegal human experimentation, rape, murder, subjugation, impoverishment, and all those other things, but you're right. It's my responsibility to have a sense of humor. Fuck me.Then why is it any different with a Native American? And with all the comments that came in the past hour, I'm fucking annoyed with how self-entitled you guys are. Also, what's even more hilarious are how people saying and doing racists things are calling the ones who actually see what's wrong this as "racist".
This is proof that you don't need to be into NSBM to be racist, the metal scene in general is full of white guys that are "DUR I'M NOT RAAWCIST111" yet in the back of their minds continue to think like this.
