Congrats to the KANSAS CITY ROYALS, their second trip to the world series in as many years, as they have won the world series on a 7-2 come back win in 5 games.
As a NEW YORK METS fan: Thank you SANDY ALDERSON for getting good players in for a very fun, awesome and competitive season. Considering the NEW YORK METS were under .500 in 2014, it was an awesome time, and very fun to see the NEW YORK METS in contention.
CURTIS "GRANDY" GRANDERSON played well for NEW YORK METS all through out the playoffs, and the WORLD SERIES, you couldn't ask much more from him, and he's a great guy.
THE NY METS starting pitching rotation pitched, for most part, well. "Everything and the kitchen sink" is sound advice for the NY METS starting rotation, vary pitches so batters don't sit on fastballs. However, the NEW YORK METS bullpen and inconsistent offense let them down.
WITH A BROKEN HEART: SOME CRITICISM OF THE NY METS IN THE 2015 WORLD SERIES:
YOENIS CESPEDES: CESPEDES was pulled during the 4th and clinching game of the National League Championship Series, apparently he had a shoulder injury.
I figured, while CESPEDES would play during the 2015 WORLD SERIES, I knew he would not be a factor.
Considering CESPEDES SLUMPED his way through the world series, and he was batting 4th and 5th (LOL), MURPHY saw not a good pitch to hit (batting cleanup and before CESPEDES) with no protection in the lineup, and MURPHY was not patient at the plate. Both CESPEDES and MURPHY's defense was questionable, unusual for the Gold glove winning CESPEDES.
METS MANAGER TERRY COLLINS: COLLINS is a good judge of TALENT, btw, as COLLINS helped DE GROM and "THOR" get to the major leagues.
Why bat a slumping CESPEDES fifth or cleanup? Move a slumping CESPEDES down in the lineup. LAGARES and CONFORTO hit well during the WORLD SERIES, either of them could have platooned 5th in the lineup. MURPHY batting clean up will NOT see good pitches, and wasn't patient enough to draw walks with a slumping CESPEDES hitting behind him, there's no protection for MURPH, they'll pitch to a slumping CESPEDES instead. It's not about batters on paper, it's about production and "CES" looked TERRIBLE during the WORLD SERIES.
The top of and bottom end of the NY METS batting order hit well in the clutch (Granderson, Lagares, CONFORTO, DAVID WRIGHT). However, the 3, 4 and 5 ("heart of the batting order") of the NY METS were AWFUL and slumped during the 2015 WORLD SERIES.
STOP PULLING STARTING PITCHERS WHOM HAVEN'T GIVEN UP THE LEAD: Something TERRY COLLINS did too many times during the regular season. GAME 5: MATT HARVEY gave up ONE run (breaking up a shut out, as NY METS defensive errors did not help) with no outs and was pulled from game 5 with a one run lead in the top of the 9th. FAMILA inherited HARVEY's base runners as the ROYALS tied the game for extra innings vs. FAMILIA.
Until the pitcher gets tied or loses the lead, don't pull him. The NEW YORK METS starting pitchers have great (or good) outings and COLLINS pulls them anyway for the bullpen. Let your starters pitch, really, arrggh.
..and there's the BULLPEN issue.
THE BULLPEN:
Not everything is FAMILA's fault, but ughh, FML. Get a reliever with strike out stuff, or have a starter come in for middle relief in extra innings. Middle relief/bridge that's the issue.
ERRORS/ CHOKING: GAME 4 and 5 NUFF SAID. Is it the curse of "BILL BUCKNER DISEASE" in Flushing Queens, or the do NEW YORK METS lack fielding defense?
OFF SEASON "HOT STOVE LEAGUE": YOENIS CESPEDES and DANIEL MURPHY are free agents. Who stays, who goes and do the NEW YORK METS go free agent hunting? It's a tight financial bind for the NEW YORK METS vs. the BERNIE MADOFF situation the WILPONS screwed up on.
Anyway, thank you SANDY ALDERSON for caring about winning, and congrats to the NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPION NEW YORK METS, it was a good time. Despite the heart break, THANK YOU!!!!! :standing ovation:
See ya next year for some unfinished business.
