EFF (ELECTRONIC FRONTIER FOUNDATION) have posted and commented on the the proposed "PRINCE ACT", a perhaps broad off shoot of "Publicity Rights Act".
EFF are concerned that the "PRINCE ACT" could be too broad and misinterpreted as ANYTHING that evokes a persons identity, including catch phrases. "The PRINCE ACT" could be actively used for a minimum term of 50 years via the estate of even deceased celebrities, rock stars, even after copy right has expired.
The "PRINCE ACT" could limit fair use protections.
Media reports have stated that legendary rock/soul artist PRINCE (PRINCE ROGERS NELSON) passed away 4/21/2016 at his Minnesota, U.S.A. home at 57.
While toxicology reports are pending (no cause of PRINCE ROGERS NELSON death to date) , Minnesota authorities are currently investigating.
PRINCE unleashed "HIT AND RUN PHASE 2", 1/21/2016 via NPG.

Minnesota lawmakers are using Prince’s death to push for new publicity
rights that will actually act as perpetual censorship tools. It's a bad
idea, badly executed. https://www.eff.org/…/minnesota-legislators-go-crazy-pushin…
