U.S.A, based black metal warriors NACHTMYSTIUM, via BANDCAMP, are streaming the bands anticipated EP release "RESILIENT", unleashed 11/30/2018 via PROPHECY PRODUCTIONS.
FROM NACHTMYSTIUM:
Currently in the works of developing a release (vinyl & cassette) that will be a mini LP with all three versions of our track, "Ashes To Ashes", which was originally written in 2002 and was the first song composed for the 2003 "Demise" LP, our second full-length album.
There was a demo version recorded on 4-track analog in our rehearsal studio in early 2003 while rehearsing for the Blitzkrieg Festival black metal fest in July, 2003 (our third show ever at the time) This demo version was a bonus track released on our extremely limited, vinyl-only, live LP "Live Blitzkrieg", released on now-defunct Indiana, USA-based label, AUTOPSY KITCHEN RECORDS. (AKR also released the original digipak CD pressing and subsequent jewelcase 2nd pressing CD of the "Demise" album, along with our limited edition split 7" EP with XASTHUR.
Anyways - there are three studio recordings and two live recordings of "Ashes to Ashes" - the demo version from the "Live Blitzkrieg" LP bonus track (only released there, ever), a live recording from Cafe Lura in Chicago, IL in June, 2003 from our gig opening for Japanese metal legends METALUCIFER, then the 2003 "Demise" LP recording of it, a sound-board recording later mixed in a pro studio multi-track and then mastered from our performance at PARTY SAN OPEN AIR FESTIVAL 2011 in Schlothsburg, Germany, and finally - the August, 2011 studio recording in Chicago, IL at ENGINE STUDIOS (where we recorded "Assassins" and "Silencing Machine" LPs, and then this third mini session in 2011 where we tracked four songs - two for the "As Made" 7" EP - the title track and the original version of "Silencing Machine" track, "I Wait In Hell" for our split 7" EP with MURMUR (Inferna Profundus Records, Lithuania) and finally the re-recording of "Ashes to Ashes", which (as mentioned above) only appeared on the European digipak CD edition of "Silencing Machine", as a bonus track.
This latest studio recording was never made available on any other formats / pressings of the album - which is a fucking shame because it's the best studio track we've probably ever recorded. The reason we like it so much as a band, is because the song was written in the earliest days of NACHTMYSTIUM, when we were between 18 and 20 years old, then revisited ten / eleven years later and recorded far more professionally - we also added elements more commonly associated with our later works to the songs recording without deviating from the core of the songs original arrangement and vibe one bit.
Many of you may not care - but I put this up there because, in 20 years of Nachtmystium existing, "Ashes to Ashes" has been the one song that literally more fans have written to us sighting as being their absolute favorite track of ours, hands down, consistently since it's release. There was a sudden resurgence of interest / awareness of this rather obscure older track of ours once Party San Open Airs staff released the edited / mixed live video from the 2011 set at the festival we played, which we just so happened to play very well that night and the recording sounded great. A lot of people asked "What is this song? Why have we never heard it?", as many of our fans I'm pretty sure don't realize we existed long before "instinct: Decay" (3rd LP, 2005) or "Assassins" (4th LP, 2008). So - we wanted to release a limited 12" MLP and / or cassette simply titled "Ashes to Ashes", featuring all three studio versions of the song and the two live recordings from '03 and '11.
All five recordings of the song are completely unique and different enough to warrant doing this release, we feel. Sure, it's something just for people that are serious die-hard fans of the band, but for me as the main-man behind all this shit for all these years, I think listening through the evolution of the song over the years is a really interesting display of how we grew sound-wise as a band and how the elements that we became known for later (the 'psychedelic' / industrial influences) can be utilized effectively in all forms of our songs - even older ones like this - without changing the over all vibes and atmospheres.
I'll be speaking with our current label PROPHECY PRODUCTIONS about the idea of releasing this MLP / cassette and hopefully they'll bring it to light, alongside our upcoming 7" EP "Show Me How To Shine: A Tribute To SWANS", featuring two covers ("Love Will Save You" and "You Fucking People Make Me Sick" - possibly a cover also of "Celebrity Lifestyle" if we can get it wrapped up in time. These are planned for 2019 while we continue to work on a new full-length)
