NEW DATES : NOVEMBER 10 - 13

After much deliberation, we have decided to move the dates of Ascension MMXXI from May 2021 to November 2021. While this is probably not a surprise to most, with the core reason being obvious, we still feel an explanation is necessary, as a matter of courtesy if nothing else. Simply put, we just do not have the luxury of waiting to see how the next few months will unfold, vaccine or no vaccine. Ascension MMXXI is a festival with a predominantly international line-up and a large number of attendees travelling from abroad. Therefore, we need to ensure that both our international collaborators and attendees can proceed with plans with the greatest degree of confidence. By making this decision now, as opposed to later, we can move forward with this confidence. To phrase plainly - it's better for us to move the dates now, than potentially having to make the same decision in three months' time, after everyone has already taken holidays and booked flights and accommodation. While this is a disappointment, it is also what we believe to be the only responsible decision.

Other than the change of dates, the only other change to be aware of is the fact that camping is not possible in Iceland in November due to the harsh weather conditions, so anyone who would like a refund for their camping passes, please get in touch with tix.is. Anyone who held onto their ticket from the postponed 2020 edition or has recently purchased tickets for the 2021 edition, your tickets are of course still valid. Should anyone be unable to attend these new dates, refund requests must be made within the next 14 days.

All currently announced bands are still confirmed. And with a little luck, we can throw in some northern lights for good measure! Sure, we have to wait a little longer, but look on the bright side, this time next year, we will be standing at Ascension MMXXI! And to say that we are ready, well, that's beyond an understatement!
