It's official. Juneteenth (6/19/1866) is an official national holiday as that marks the date of when the last U.S. slaves were freed in Texas as Federal troops stepped in. .The last U.S. slaves (in Texas) were freed over two years after President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation ending slavery in the U.S.A.
